yeah, I think he probably is. scientology turns them gay. all that whisking them away to remote golfing locations with other men. probably showering with them and who knows what else.

It's a Deeply Held Religious Belief, Charlie Brown!

wow. you know, I don't think they would allow that cartoon to be printed now in my part of the country.
at least linus didn't waste years and years of his life on the false beliefs. at least he wasn't in denial after the pumpkin god ? let him down. as so many of our families continue to be.

Whats left for me to say?
by KW13 ini can't describe what i feel, when i see my mum as a jw.
sometimes (like today) it really gets me down knowing she and millions of others are living a life that is not going anywhere.. she's been to the british musuem, i've gotten e-mails from the british musuem.
we've read literature/websites/bible e.t.c.

I know what you're saying. it's truly frustrating, but the only person we can ever change is ourselves. Just let her figure it out on her own. let her know you are there for her always no matter what, and that you have boundaries she must not cross as long as she is a witness.

Thank you Jehovah for answered prayers
by Annie Over inwhen i got off for lunch today i decided to go to the walmart deli and get something to eat.
it is a huge store, groceries, a bakery, mc donalds, a bank , eye center, beauty shop, a great deli, and a huge garden center.
i had taken back a 80 gig hard drive dvd recorder ( i couldn't figure out how to hook up <smile> and had received 238.00. i picked up a couple of things in the store then went to the deli.

annie, 2 things.
1) You are very disrespectful to the people you think are being disrespectful to you. Jehovah jehovah jehovah blah blah Jehovah blah Jehovah. That's disrespectful to the people who have been hurt by the group bearing your god's name. and don't think saying "at least I don't hate jehovah like you do" is a valid argument. you are misrepresenting most people's true positions. I for one do not hate jehovah. I just do not believe in his existence but hate those who by their actions prove they do not believe in Jehovah but are claiming to speak for him in order to lord it over others, ie Jehovah's Witness leaders.
2) The very people who have hurt you also pray using Jehovah's name. think about that one.
It would be a real shame if this annie person was really some poster attempting to make christians seem petty. That's a line even I wouldn't cross. Annie I hope you are for real, but I will hesitate to be baited by you again in the future.

My Experience (become JW and DF)
by windchime inhello guys!

i was born in 1969 at northern side of japan and started bible study with my brother when i was 10. later my mother joined and baptized when i was high school student.

wow. welcome, windchime. I think the culture in Japan probably has a lot to do with your experience. Jehovah's Witnesses would be more strict anywhere, but I never considered how much pressure would be on the witnesses, especially the women, in Japan. Thanks for sharing your story. I am glad you married this man who loves you and you are free from the family who wanted to control you too much, but I know the loss hurts. You had a very hard decision to make and you probably feel really bad about it sometimes, but you did the right thing.
thanks for sharing.

it wasn't his will, purps, it wasn't his will, or so they would probably say. god needed more angels? something like that?
Years ago, I spoke to a man in door to door who was an atheist. the person with me knew his house and that nobody could get through to him. I, being a good little show off JW, figured I could get through if nobody else could. And that man said something I will never forget. I asked him why he didn't believe in god and he said that when he was little, his father was very abusive and every day he prayed that god would stop him from getting beaten, but god never did. And that's why he would never believe in him. What could I say to that? Nada.
Hold that story up against the found purse story and how does everything look? Not so great for the purse, I think.

"....you will be like gods, knowing good and evil."
by Lilycurly ini know this has been mentioned before, but i'd like to bring that question to the front again.
not only from a jw's perspective, but also from all other christians.. who lied to man and woman in the eden story?.
yahweh god says to men: 17 "nevertheless of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you are not to eat, for on the day you eat of it you shall most surely die.

I know. So many things about this story really bother me. Of course it's a complete myth, but the way some religions actually believe it's real, for one, that bothers me. And the way it was the woman's mistake that brought misery on the human race? that bothers me. Knowing good and evil? what kind of people did god want, anyway, people not knowing anything? innocent little children in adult bodies, naked? and the whole not dying in the day they ate from it, it bugs me that people swallow the WTS explanation for it by deciding "day" is not literal. so if "day" is not literal, what else in that story is not literal, huh? and the devil comes out looking best in this story, IMO. at least he didn't lie and punish people for something so petty. I don't think this myth is really going to fly for most people any more. religions need to let it go.

Primetime--Ammish "shun" for 6 weeks only...
by crazyblondeb ini'm watching primetime on abc.
it's about the ammish, mainly their problems with sexual abuse.
the girl that is telling her story about her brother raping her says that they "confessed" in church to their elders.
-

too bad, I am sorry I missed it. of course JWs believe any bad press they get is untrue because satan is behind it or something like that. throw evil forces trying to sully jehovah's name into the mix and they will never see their flawed logic.

I couldn't believe what I heard
by snarf ini posted last week about wanting ideas to bring up for a visit from my old teacher and her elder husband.
the visit went awesome, they only managed to stay for 3 1/2 hours then made up a lame excuse and bolted out of here as fast as they could.
i am very grateful for the responses i recieved, although we never made it to those issues, i didn't get a chance.
