What must we do to be saved?
by Dawn injw's love this topic and have a long list of "do's & don'ts" that need to be completed in order to be saved.
as you all know - it is a "works based" belief - if you do enough you might make it.
i have struggled with that concept since i was little, wondering how in the world we could ever do enough to be considered worthy.

my number one thing is finding out that the name "jehovah" was not in the bible like it was in the new world translation (tm).
christians did not call god "jehover" "jehovah" or by his first name, no more than you would call your father by his first name when you were a child.

i left the jws as a teen/young man, df'd for fornication, with no witnesses, and i never showed for the judicial commitee.
when i came back in (in my 20s) and was re-instated, i was "super jw", very zealous, and very vocal and knowlegeable of the bible.

What must we do to be saved?
It is what leads to salvation that is important, not all the manufactured interpretation of Scripture to try to make it fit an organization?s pre- conceived notions. We should not turn our backs on what is important for salvation- Faith in God, service to him, faith in his Son's ransom sacrifice's power to redeem us, practicing the fruitages of the Holy Spirit, prayer, doing our utmost to avoid sin, and helping others do the same are what matter. It's all there in the NT. Want some citations? You can look these up online at http://bible.gospelcom.net/bible/ there's 17 Bible versions available there.
Putting faith in God (YHWH), his Son, Jesus Christ, his Son's ransom sacrifice's power to redeem us, and his inspired word the Holy Bible - Hebrews 10:12, 26; 11:6; 11:1-40; John 3:16-21; Romans chapters 4, 5 & 6; Romans 10: 9-17; Acts 4:12; 10:43; Matthew 26:28; Mark 3:28-30; James 4:17; 5:15; 1 John 4:9-14;Luke 13:23,24; 1 Timothy 4:10.
Real faith compels us to works, service to God - James 2:26; Acts 26:20; Hebrews 10: 23-25.
Practicing the fruitages of the Holy Spirit, doing our utmost to avoid sin -Galatians 5:19-25;1 Corinthians 6: 9,10; Matthew 12:31.
Prayer - Matthew 5:44, 6:9, 26:41; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; James 5:16; Romans 12:21; Phillipians 4:6; Colossians 4:2; 1 Peter 4:7.
There are many more scriptures that provide insight on these things necessary for salvation. Everthing else outside the scope of these things is principle, prophesy, trivia and dissertation. It's all a matter of setting priorities and importance.
I choose to keep the Bible based moral rules and principles in mind, and let the Fruitages of the Spirit guide me, along with faith in God. I pray to him when I feel compelled to do so, and try my best not to sin.
Leaving the JWs, just another part of Babylon the Great, is one of the best things any of us can do. But we shouldn?t jump from the fire into the frying pan. Avoid at all costs walking on through the broad gate that leads top destruction, as tempting as it may be.

However, there are many who've done the same and never been DFd or DAd- my girlfriend, for instance.

Yes, they CAN, but not ALWAYS. It depends on their mood-du-jour, I guess, STILL, nothing in any publication that says they can do so. Go figure. They MAKE the rules, THEY can break the rules, I guess.

Two years later......
by flower insomeone said something recently that reminded me of a post i made just after discovering this board and the 'truth' about the jw's.
in fact, it was two years ago this weekend that i posted this http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/21607/1.ashx .
the thread sparked some very interesting conversations, at least in my opinion and it also was the day reality really hit me hard.

NO ONE but God can PROVE thee is or is not a God, a Creator, etc.
You choose to believe one or the other based on your experiences and observations.
I choose to Believe because I see creation, I see the beauty of it, and I feel the "ring of truth" in his word the Bible.
If there is no God, or other gods, you, out of free will, have the right to choose. Make your decision wisely- it may be the difference between life and death.
I will ALWAYS believe.

The TRUE religion is one seen by God alone, one that binds it's believers by their heart condition, and their LOVE. NOT an "Organized" religion, period.
