Randy has posted on another string that the police in Oregon are keeping the Bryant family murders or alleged suicides "open," and no doubt Dateline is investigating this tragedy as well. There have been documentaries aired of very small dangerous cults, and the one on the Watchtower Society misleading JWs will also be aired. Meanwhile write letters to your area editors.

Lost Diamond, here or to me at [email protected], please clarify if the high suicide rate in Utah which you speak of is among the general population or JWs in particular? I find it interesting that Oregon has JW and Scientology activitiy while Utah has JW and LDS activity. I'm compiling a list of JW-related suicides by states/provinces/nations, so the more details I can get the better.

Both were good communicators with large families. Longo is said to have been a con artist but Bryant wasn't and had he lived his family may have established a local, growing house-church. The Watchtower emphasizes "Jehovah's (the org) tolerates no rivals." McMinnville had also had Scientology helping a church there against Rick Ross of rickross.org Many other JW suicides have also been in Oregon, or one assumes they were all suicides?

More likely the recent murders/suicides in Oregon have them looking into that facet as well, and the research adds more time. Meanwhile, why not write a letter to your local news editors.

So-called "Free" Man, WTS scored nothing. You claim most JWs totally accept the WTS claim about liason with the UN just to have a library card even though there is a collaborating Awake magazine full of pro-UN articles, and the surfed internet shows them using that liason to be on UN Human Rights Committes. When given the website addresses with that Awake which most JWs have in their personal libraries, many JWs do in fact see through the hypocrisy. I know because I've seen it happen personally. Others have to, as with the guy from a Spanish country where he and several elders have quit the WTS. You on the other hand make a false assumption or statement which would have the effect of dampening our usage of this and other evidences. It's a big matter to many JWs knowing the top leadership sold out to the UN. Also their typing all sin-file records into a database that can be easily transferred to the UN down the street or the like sews much distrust of Henschel and company. Are you a naturally negative, depressed guy or what?

Yes, we already miss Stormin' Norman, Jan/Yahn who never made us yawn, and Kent who is unrivaled among the Vikings of the North for his battle-axing website that tears the Watchtower walls down!
And speaking of Kent, your recommended website included this Kent Lent Tart recipe:
In the days when Lent was strictly observed, many cooks became very ingenious at thinking up new dishes to break the monotony of their abstemious diet. This recipe, sometimes called Kentish Pudding Pie, is rather like a baked cheesecake and was particularly popular in the area around Folkestone. Serves 4-6.
INGREDIENTS: Plain flour - 175 g (6 oz), Butter - 150 g (5 oz), Milk - 300 ml (* pint), Ground rice - 25 g (1 oz), Sugar - 50 g (2 oz), Eggs - 2, Lemon - 1, zest only, Grated nutmeg - * tsp, Currants - 25 g (1 oz).
COOKING: 1. Pre-heat oven to 200C / 400F / Gas 6.
2. Put the flour in a bowl and rub in 75 g (3 oz) of the butter until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in 3-4 tablespoons water to bind the mixture together into a dough.3. Roll out the pastry on a floured surface and use to line a greased 20 cm (8 inch) fluted flan dish or tin. Bake blind for 10-15 minutes, until set. Reduce oven temperature to 190C / 375F / Gas 5.
4.Meanwhile, put the milk and rice in a pan and bring to the boil, stirring continuously, until the mixture thickens. Remove the pan from the heat and leave to cool.
5. When the mixture is cold, cream the remaining butter and sugar together until pale and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then add the lemon zest, nutmeg and the rice mixture. Mix thoroughly and pour into the flan case. Sprinkle the currants on top.
6. Bake for 40-45 minutes until firm to the touch and golden brown. Serve the pie warm.
Yum, yum! What you say, Ladies?!!

Most JWs sense something is amiss. Since they can't quit without losing their ties to JW family and friends they let it be known the only other way they can: cutting money in the donation boxes.
Some have said donations have gone down as much as 50% since Armageddon didn't come when predicted and tax laws forced the Watchtower Society to tell members to stop asking for specific book and magazine donation amounts.
They can always outsource printing to private businesses run by other JWs. There must be some gleeful former CO's and DO's chomping at the bit for that money!

Alternatives to JWs
by Xander insince there are new people coming to this board on fairly regular basis with questions about the jw religion, i thought i'd pose this topic.. many, upon leaving the organization, don't really know where to turn for guidance.
"look to yourself" doesn't really cut it when you've been told how to think your whole life.. many choose atheism, which is fine.
however, for those still looking for a religion, here is a site that lists many of the worlds major religious movements.

Here's a link to an egroup for exJWs and others whose main uniting belief is in ACTIVE LOVE AND KINDNESS although many to most are nontrinitarian, believe hellfire is not literal, and resurrections is on earth for some and to heaven for others. The movement is called simply the Christians or descriptively the Free Christians. The Jah Christians are just one Bible reading/study group within it, but the group puts out the Free Christians News 2-3 issues per week via
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jahchristian
The newsletters often have articles promoting Christian Freedom per Romans 14:1-5. Those who get the newsletter are under no obligation to join anything. They are welcome to simply read the articles and retain their most current belief systems, however they prefer. To get the free subscription just go to the link. Besides the news service there are other also free services such as epenpals by state, province, nation. Although Unitarians sound attractive you may not know upfront that they view Christ as simply a good man, and many of their congregations are dominated by atheists and pagans.

Dung, you chose your own screen name so don't say I called you a name. Ditto for "Saint Satan" and Plum Krazy. The suicide information came from ajwrb.org and is correct. As regards the "JM" case that came from another party whose email I won't give you although I have kept a copy in case anyone tried anything real dumb. In the future any emails from me to you will have copies made of them. I told you in the emails to you to which you did not respond precisely what I have said here. My posting the suicides appears to be a great thing since it has caused you who do appear so pro-Watchtower to scream about it. Come on, scream some more. The more you do the more I'll post for that indicates pay dirt. Big Mama Watchtower is so unhappy that the blood of innocents her policies have driven to suicide is coming back to haunt her. Well, I'm delighted! Keep it up. Keep it up. Your baloney motivates rather than dampens my spirit!
