Wow, I haven't seen hide nor hair of them around here in a long time. It's been since memorial time since I've seen an elder and the KH is really close to my house. All my old friends have dropped me like a hot potato and I don't get any emails or phone calls either. Sometimes I think this is a bit sad--like was I ever loved by these people at all? After reading your post maybe I am glad they leave me alone. Maybe you should just tell them you want some space right now and it would be best not to talk. Or if you are reallly going crazy think of something to say to make them leave you alone.. Maybe I just want to be left alone. Or you could say there are things about the Org that is really bothering your conscience these days and then drop a bomb or two on them about the UN, silent lambs, broken families, hatred displayed towards anything or anyone who is not JW...pick one or two and toss it to them--that will probably send them scattering. Sorry you have to have this hanging over you. I am also protecting my relationship with some family in there, but they are not talking to me now either (for the simple reason that I am not attending the meetings anymore). I may just give it up one day and say what I need to say and get it over with. It depends on the situation. Do what you think is best or just let the cards fall as they will...that is all you can do.

I can think of nothing worse than the thought of having endless bar-b-ques in a paradise world filled with judgemental clones... I can imagine JWs frowning upon Pochahontas' wearing that type of garb to the Kingdon Hall.

I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. There are many people out here who send you their most heartfelt sympathies. I am glad that you had your own personal memorial with those that could truly share with you in your time of sorrow and remembrance. Those people back at the KH are emotionally and socially retarded to behave in such a manner at a memorial service. What a terrible witness they give to everyone as to the true nature of their religious practices. Maybe seeing you stand up and leave will wake some of the JWs up and make them think about what they are doing.

Hi Blondie,

Seems like all the articles in the past months have had the strong underlying message of Preach, preach and preach some more. (Advertise, advertise, advertise) They are throwing it at the JWs from every angle now using every motivational tool they can think of from guilt to fear to get them out going to door to door more and more (which means they are having a lot of problems in that area.) It's been a while since I've read an article about the life of Jesus, the meaning of true Christian love or developing the fruitages of the holy spirit. Does anyone remember the WT being a little bit more scholarly in the past? Or at least it seemed so when we learned the Hebrew and Greek meaning of words and some of the "deeper things" of the bible. Well, a lot of that was B.S too, but at least it had the appearance of being more caring and intelligent--or maybe that was my illusion. These articles are just rehashes of the same old same old. JWs have to be getting more depressed when they read this sort of info--it's all so uninspiring. Thanks blondie for keeping us posted--your WT studies are the best.

This is a picture from the newest version of the "Learn from the Great Teacher book." A JW woman commented to me that her little boy just loved the new book because the pictures were so "realistic." I have a question though--Why was Po-co-hon-tas ressurected wearing a leather deer suit--and that cowboy in the background has leather pants on too--hey looks like that little girl is wearing leather shoes too. Of course the WT would argue that these are only artist"s "depictions". Hey but aren't these Wt publications supposed to be inspired by Jehovah--if so woudn't the pictures be accurate too? Does this mean the writings in these publications are also speculations? hmmmm makes a thinking person wonder...

Please don't blame yourself for living under the JW illusion, especially being raised up in it--you were truly indoctrinated. I chose to be a JW at almost 30 years old and stuck with it for 20 years of my adult life. I was finally slapped in the face by the Org and rudely awakened to the truth about the truth. I too have a lot of questions as to why I allowed myself to be involved with this Organization, but for myself and like many others who have not had certain needs met in their lives we fell prey to groups who appear to be able to fulfill these needs. Sadley when a group like this gains control of your life and begins to lead you in a negative direction it becomes unhealthy. It's just been a year and a half since I have not attended any meetings and less than a year since I landed here. It has been a process much like deprogramming. I have sought help from others here on this board and also professional therapy. Many here have been through the same type of things. Please be assured that life can be better. Learning to take control of your life will give you the power to be stronger, more confident and to live happier and more fulfilling life. Accepting our perceived imperfections as part of being human is important too (we are not BORG). Please be careful about presenting information to other JWs right now--do some reading first. Many here have had experience in what happens when you do this. A hardcore JW can not be easily shaken from their world even if you present them with the most convincing of proof and for some who are fully indoctrinated it can even be dangerous. Even though I had my doubts for a long time when I was finally hit full force with the facts it was a very traumatic experience even though I have a loving family outside of the Org. Please continue to seek help for yourself personally and become stronger before you make any moves as to what you will reveal to others who are still under the control of the Organization.

I have a very visual mind so when I first heard the word pioneer I thought of covered wagons, women dressed in prairie dresses, cowboys and Indians and Davey Crocket. This wicked system of things brought up images of a septic system. Publisher of course made me think of a book company. I thought colporteur was some guy dressed in a funny suit that took tickets on a train. It took me a while to learn the real JW meanings behind all the "theocratic" language or what the word "theocratic" meant, but even after I was fully endoctrinated I still retained the above images and many others in my head. If I had to pick one Pioneer would be my "favorite" of them all because of the above images that this word conjured up in my head. (For me it took the dignity out of the supposedly dignified position--maybe that is one reason I could never Pioneer--the title was just too corny.)

Sometimes the little kids in the congo would misunderstand the words too. One little girl in our congo was really excited about the circus overseer coming. I don't know what the vision in her head was on that one, but I'm sure she was disappointed when some old boring guy in a grey suit showed up.

I see the core of the U.S. organization of JWs to be a group of aging baby boomers. One of the problems with this generation is that they were raised in a time where education was most definitely frowned upon. Many have spent their life working menial jobs and have not prepared financially for retirement. Many of these are experiencing increasing mental health problems and a large number are using antideppresant medications. I knew so many on these types of medication I thought it was the norm for society as most all my JW women friends were on them (a lot of the men too.) Taking a personal survey of the people I know now the numbers are much lower with the non-JW people I know. The few JWs I know who I still have through the grapevine contact with seem to becoming increasingly more mentally disturbed and some are even displaying more outlandish behaviours.

If this generation is truly the backbone of the JW Org I don't think they will be able to keep it together much longer as far as financially supporting the Org. Many of these will be financially strapped in their aging years. Part of the depression I can see is because of so many broken families. A lot of these have lost their children "to the world." So along with having poor finances in their aging years, they won't have the family support of their children ( a lot of sadness here). With so many young ones leaving and very few young ones joining up (the only new ones I knew who came in were strange or didn't stay for too long) the U.S population of JWs will decrease. The Org's only hope of staying alive is to head into the 3rd world countries, which they are doing right now...
