  Well, if I really wanted to stir the pot....I haven't done anything that would warrant a Df-ing, but if they ever tried it on me I have some dirt I could throw at them.

  My daughter still has a friend who is in the Org who has been accepting of her not ever becoming a JW. My daughter's friend was a pioneer for about 6 years. Any daughter's friend just got Dfd for doing it with one of the elder's son. Now, this was a few years back and the elder's son just confessed it to the elders here a few weeks ago. He had talked about it to a friend and new girlfriend and somehow was talked into fesssing up. Anyway, this kid was just recently over at Bethel working on a building project, etc.

  So what do they do? They call the my daughter's friend who lives in another area now. They meet with her and Df her (and it was a grueling and cruel ordeal). the elder's son gets off scott free without even a public reproof. My daughter's friend calls over to the congo where the guy is and wonders why she is Dfd and he isn't. The elder's told her it was because no one knew about it in this congo and he was repentant. But no one knew about it in her congo either and she was repentant too. So, we have elder's son here who has commited a sin and he didn't get Dfd or publically reproved--maybe I could mention that to the elders if they ever threaten to Df me. What you think?

  PS. The guy that got off Dfing also got to take a vacation with an elder an his wife after his "ordeal" of confession. They felt sorry for him--poor guy--being lead astray by some evil woman. a sad but true story.

  If the elders called, I'll do what's always worked: "... brothers, thank you for your love and attention, I am studying still, and continue to seek Jehovah for guidance, please continue to pray for me as I appear spritually weak also at this time..."

  Gozz this is just too funny, but how could it not work? I don't think they are supposed to Df you for being admittedly humble and spiritually weak. I am sure this kind of statement would perplex them. You could further say that you heard about the Awake mag being discontinued on account of the WT wanting to put more emphasis on the bible and you have taken that admonition to heart and continue to pray for biblical direction. ( personally I could not say this with any honestly)

  It has been 2 years since I have seen hide nor hair of the elders here--hopefully several more will pass before I am contacted.

  If they tell me then they have missed me I could bring out the fact that it has been over 2 years since I have seen them even though the KH is only about a mile from my house.

  I like your style Jeff,

  I agree that what would hurt about being Dfd is that it would hurt others in my family. I like the idea of writing a level headed letter to friends and family if you know that your Dfing going to happen. Instead of lashing out, which would cause them to agree with the WTs Df-ing decision, calmly state the facts, confirm your love for them and behave as a decent human being. This may speak many more volumes than whatever dirt you have on the WT Org, which most who are still involved in the Org won't hear anyway.

  Yeh UD I get pretty pissed off at times myself, but alas I am but small woman, so I never have thought of taking this challenge on physically. The WT and it's inherents are all about playing mind games. My shrink has advised me to have as little contact with JWs as possible, as it is too mind bending for me. We all learned as JWs how to manipulate. Even the ones who are nice are still trying to manipulate me back into the Org and using their niceness as a manipulation to do so.

  I still think that personally threatening them (the elders) with a lawsuit would be the best route. In my case I would be charging them with: harassment, slander and endangerment to family. Can you think of any others? Emotional abuse? false advertising?

  Probably true, but the elders here are such dopes I am sure they don't even realized the vows were changed and they will have to scramble and do a bit of research to try to prove me wrong. They won't be able to and this may shut them up or at least light up a dim bulb somewhere in their dim bulb brains. cybs of the sometimes bitterly sacastic class

  I have thought of a few things to say, as I think I may be getting the call to meet someday soon. If they say anything about meeting with them I will say a simple "no"

  If I am in anyway threatened with Df-ing I will tell them that my lawyer (who doesn't exist) will be contacting them soon and if I am Dfd I will personally sue them for slander and endangerment of family.

  I could bring up the fact that I was baptized before 1985 and since then the baptismal agreement has changed--therefore my baptism is null and void, which means I am no longer under contract with the WT organization. Any thoughts about this one?

  knowing full well that the overwhelming

  majority will reject the organization, together with the real loss of friends and

  family which that entails. If child baptism is wrong, why is baptism of teenagers right?

  Can most teenagers successfully choose a life career or marriage mate? Why then

  place such a cruel and unrealistic burden on them, so that they now can be

  disfellowshipped and cast off by their families? Why should the Watchtower get away

  with endlessly proclaiming that parents should "train their children from infancy",

  knowing that the process is dominated by failure and heartache?

  GOOD POINTS. I have thought of this point a lot, but never articulated it as well. I have seen so many young kids forced into baptism and a few years down the road be DFd. Both my sisters sons were baptized at 13. they were both immature young boys raised up in a troubled household. they say that baptism is a personal decision, but those of us who were in the Org know the pressure a person is put under to get baptized and the young ones in the Org are especially manipulated into performing this life changing ceremony. I remember one girl who couldn't get her ears pieced until she got dunked. Others have been manipulated in other ways. Both my sisters son are out now--one lasted until he was about 16--the other at about 21. Both are shunned by their mom and other members of the family. If they knew at 13 what they know now as adults they would have never made that life changing decision. My sister too has gone through so much heart ache losing her sons and now I have heard that her younger two have just been baptized at 13 and 10! Will these kids make it--well they have a 15% chance of it. My sis will be devastated if she loses them all, but is still willing to sacrifice them to the WT cause. I really don't know how parents in the Org can do it. It would have killed me to cut my daughter off. It's scary to think that loving parents can be manipulated into doing such a thing to their children--despite the family disfunction my sis really loved her kids. The WT cult is wickedly strong that way. this is one of the things I hate most about the org.

  Is it better to just LEAVE or FIGHT?

  although, i have not been victim to the same level of damage from the wts as many of you on this site, i have noticed that it is very difficult to fight such a large entity with deep pockets and passionate (though misled) supporters.. .

  since i am still in the very early stages of leaving/fading, i wonder:.

  i have already spent the vast majority of my life sacrificially serving the interests of this org.

  My shrinks advice is to not waste any more of my precious moments of life trying to reason with any JWs. He told me to carry a big pocketwatch and if ever I have an encounter with one of them take my watch out of my pocket and say "I'm late I'm late for a very important date, no need to say hello, goodbye, I'm late....I'm late...I'm late...I'm late." well something along those lines. His advice was to give them about 10 seconds and that was it. That way I don't get myself upset by their encounter and there is no time to discuss anything that might lead into anything that they can use to manipulate or harm me or my family.

  Of course there are other situations that involve more than a casual encounter--family,etc. There is no black and white on these situations, but as far as I have learned thus far (in therapy) that it is about personal boundaries. You need to create some to protect yourself. I think it has a lot to do with limiting your time spent with people who are not healthy for you.

  Honesty/Vs/tolerance--X-JW dilemna

  this has been a struggle i have had since leaving the wt some 2 years ago.

  i have been pretty low key thus far about the reasons i have left and haven't really gone out of my way to speak to any jws about it.

  i have a nephew that is dfd and my daughter has a friend who is dfd and i have had a few brief discussions with them about the subject of my leaving.

  Thanks for the comments everyone. One hard part is when those still living in JW land try to drag me back into it. The other difficult thing (and insanely twisted thing) is when those who are still in JW land and are being treated poorly by the Org complain to me about their treatment in there. I have tried to comfort a few of these, but it has turned on me and then I am accused of being intolerant of their beloved but cruel organization.

  It blows me away how those who have experienced such cruelty can still be defending it as something good--very twisted.

  It is hard for me to be tolerant in the sense that any contact with people who are still in the JW mode makes me feel rather unwell and upset. sometimes I just want to make the annoucement to them all that "I can't stand this anymore!"
