Turn away from these wicked ways!
by Proud Witness inwell as you would have guessed from my name, i am a proud witness and i feel obliged to preach to you about the promises that our wonderful creator, jehovah god, has promised each and every one of us, of any race or background.
i know that you already know what he has told us through his word, but i am curious to wonder why you have chosen to jump off the narrow road which leads to everlasting life.
is it because you have had a bad experience in god's organization?

A most polite hello to you Proud Witness.
Welcome to the greatest jw forum on earth.
You are a much needed balance to all of us, and I for one hope you stay around.
I am truly open to any honest statement or argument you may have to help me to find the truth.
If you do not want to do truly help, your motives will become very clear if they aren't already.
Yours truly,
boa

Oh catalytic converter, where art thou?
by Elsewhere inthe p0420 code is showing up again on my car... everyone i talk to agrees that the problem is with the catalytic converter(s).
the problem i am having is that no one (including the dealer) can tell me how many or where my catalytic converter(s) are.
i have heard people say that there is 1, 2 and even 3 catalytic converters.. so far the most plausable (and financially disturbing) thing i have heard is that there is one "catalytic converter" just before the muffler and two "pre-catalytic converters" attached to the exauhst manafolds on each side of the v6 engine.

uhhh, without knowing what car you have, I'll just explain a bit about the catalytic converter and o2 sensors on your car.
if the car is newer than '94, then it likely will have 2 o2 sensors per catalytic converter. The first one is used by the computer to help control the fuel ratio - the main purpose being emissions, then mileage. The second o2 is to monitor the effectiveness of the catalytic converter. If it has a problem reducing/oxidizing the engines emissions, then a code will be set from the signal of that second o2. The same goes for if the sensor itself has a problem...a code may be set.
If you have factory dual exhaust then you may have 2 cats and 4 o2 sensors. The reason there may be some confusion over how many cats you have may be due to the fact that there are two main parts to each cat itself and is usually internally divided. One section is designed to do a 'reduction' chemical reaction (primarily for Nox emissions) and the other section will do an oxidation reaction (for changing carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon emissions to make them less harmful).
Catalytic converters will almost always be as close as possible to the engine. The reason for this is that they will heat up to their necessary operating temperature quicker and stay at that temp better in all driving conditions.
Other components that may seem similar to cats are : mufflers, and resonators..However if you can be virtually sure that the cat is the device right inbetween the two o2 sensors on one exhaust pipe. One o2 in front of the cat, and one just downstream of the cat.
hope this helps....

What happened to me?
by boa ina few years ago....before i went to bethel....i was very troubled in mind and heart and quite fervently prayed to jehovah asking for help.....i really really poured my heart out when all of a sudden...... i went completely catatonic (i was lying down in bed on my back).
i was still concious, but i felt like i was no longer a part of my body and in fact don't think i could've moved if i'd tried to.....it was very strange and i believe its only happened once since then (while during a heartfelt prayer).
has this happened to any of you?.

thanks mark for your comments and everyone else for the different ideas on what happend. Chevy I saved those links to look into astral travel more....interesting ideas.
I currently look at most things from a non-'mysterious' view right now....an strong inclination that contributed to leaving the org as there are many many 'mysteries' in that religion like any other (the 'anointed' KNOWING their anointed for example)
Special K - please keep kidding...i enjoy it a lot. I also have done some lucid dreaming....it seems to happen in spurts though....suppose I should get some information on how to do it more regularly since I find being the 'director' of a dream 'movie' kinda fun.....

Why I don't discuss Scripture or doctrine
by Maverick inmy fathers mother was a jw all of her life and she die two years ago at the age of 97. my mother and father divorced when i was three and my mother remarried when i was 5. turns out my mother and grandmother hated each other.
so my mother raised us kids religion free.
she figured we could work out the god issues on our own.

maverick you said it. I'm pretty much in the same boat, and kinda like the ride so far! Wifee and I want to leave the place perhaps a wee bit better than we arrived (life) and don't really seek 'answers' or 'higher purpose' than the life we have now......
its funny, reading coc and isocf.....I tend to move as quickly as possible through the doctrinal sections as it isn't really interesting to me anymore....that is ray's choice but not my at this point....still both a great read though

Why are the publications anonymously written?
by boa inthe society would like to say this is done (except for the 'life stories') because 'all recognition' blah blah blah should go to jehovah...but what do you think are the real reasons why everything is published anonymously?.
and, is this also a common practice in other religious articles/publications?.

Why is it even ex JW's run scared when they hear the word apostate?
by happehanna ini just told them where i work as a volunteer, that i am going to a workshop for those that have left a cult tomorrow.
they were all fascinated and wanted to know which cult i had belonged to.
i said jw's and this one guy said i he used to be one of them.

LOL XQ! You make sense (most of the time) and are bang on with your comments on jwism (most of the time) and yes, I realize that if my relatives were like YOU, that angle wouldn't work!
The key is that most dubbies (dare I say 'most') are NOT like you but instead are just 'normal' people under the deep mind control of a religious (non)authority, many times because they like it that way for jeece sake!
Most of my relatives don't stand a chance when it comes to the facts about their beliefs....in a battle of wits and facts, they are unarmed! I was the same in every way, and I still have hope that things may change for them (sounds arrogant but its seems to be the pitiful truth)

Mark....since the experience was my first one, and I was a good fully indoctrinated dubbie who was taught to avoid anything 'out of dub norm' in life....I was somewhat scared and yet actually had an undercurrent of thinking 'hmmmmm, where is THIS going to lead?'.
I'm a very unlikely candidate to join any new 'belief system Mark. However, I could accept the possibility that there is more to conciousness than this body (and what a hunka burnin love - according to some ladies. They usually check out my ass from what wifee says lol). I could accept some of the ideas of the 'astral' body from a scientific viewpoint without all the religious explanation.
I plan to research it further...after a ton of other research I already have on the go with exjwism.
