  NEW LIGHT in July 15th Watchtower??????

  my aunt just told me that there is new light in the july 15th watchtower study article.

  she won't tell me what it is.

  she said to look close and i would find it.

  the 'new' light she was talking about is actually another subliminal message in a picture somewhere......thats why she can't tell you....

  I'm so @#$%ing mad!!!

  last week, i took my vehicle to speedy because the brakes got squishy.

  i had to leave it with them for the entire week while they fixed my problem.

  they charged me $650, and i picked it up yesterday.

  Uhhhh.....apparently i'm the only licensed automotive technician to comment here so far, and in no way am i defending any company but.....here are a few comments for and against what you went through.....

  Last week, I took my vehicle to Speedy because the brakes got squishy. I had to leave it with them for the entire week while they fixed my problem.

  Barring anything else, an entire week is a very long to fix a brake problem in my experience unless they explained to you they were very booked up (can happen quite often).

  They charged me $650, and I picked it up yesterday.

  Depending on what they did and what vehicle, this is NOT unusual or necessarily a sign of getting ripped off. (Talking Canuck bucks too!)

  The brakes were EXACTLY the same as when I took it in.

  Did they thoroughly understand that this is why you brought it in? (just asking)

  I got on the blower and told the guy that I'm not happy, and the brakes had the exact same problem. I'm so @#$%ing mad about this.

  Why be so mad - people all too often are completely ignorant of the complexity of any modern automobile - diagnosis and repair of many automotive problems can be time-consuming and detailed. If people don't like it....replace everthing and give 'em a REAL bill to stop a heart!

  I'm getting married next Friday, and I NEED the truck by Tuesday.

  Sure, and HOW long did this vehicle have this problem and you only now brought it in? (just asking)

  Today, after work, I'm taking it back, and I'm bringing my fiance with me (she knows how to effectively tear people's heads off). We can't afford to blow any more money on this.

  The last thing a technician needs to worry about is the decisions OTHER people make to buy some piece of you know what. If you can't afford to blow money on YOUR chosen mode of transportation - TAKE A BUS! (lol)

  Bottom line to me coming from the trade side is....yes, you could be getting ripped off.....Is this a given? NO!

  Is an automobile like a fridge that'll last (hopefully) 20 yrs without much maintenance? NO! Heat/Cold/Vibration/Wear and Tear/Operator abuse/Age/Environmental conditions/Complexity and other factors will make these vehicles big on Maintenance/Repair.

  Just randomly underline study WT or book?

  did you ever get into just doing random underlines and notes and all that on your study wt or books just to look like you?d studied it without ever having even looked at it before?

  yup, but only a coupla times before I realized how stupid it was to do it.

  however, probly equally as dumb are all the times (many more) that I couldn't find the right wt for the meeting or forgot it so I 'pretended' by using another wt to go through the motions. If you paid just a little attention, you could even comment with the wrong mag in your hands, since its all comic book stuff regurgitated over the last 80 yrs -

  or even the 'underline the whole paragraph' trick - works in a pinch but takes a bit longer

  Internet...the best revenge against the Watchtower

  for over 100 years the watchtower was used to getting their way.

  they had complete control over their faithful members and those who left had no voice to speak out.

  the law was on their side protecting their teachings.

  Heh heh....I chuckle cuz I have a possibly soon-to-be exjw at my house this very day - he's thiiiiiiis close to breakin' out.
  I didn't see any q's for this thread, so I'll simply add a bit of a story to the Internet being the best revenge against the Watchtower......

  I don't really consider myself 'against' the Watchtower but arriving one day at this site WAS the key needed to help me leave the borg and getting deassimilated.

  Wifee also able to exit together with me due to information received here and through Franz' books and subsequently the courage to act on it.

  I have several friends and a few family members heading out bit by bit due to all of the above.

  The good way to be a Jehovahs Witness

  did anyone know witness families who were seemingly able to juggle getting a good education and career while maintaining good standing and even high positions in the congregation.

  while from the platform, encouraging ones to pioneer from school (like i did), they themselves would be leading a completely acceptable double life, encouraging their children in their careers.

  some people were better at that kind of double life than others.

  great thread ball.....and Yes, I know of several who straddled the fence perfectly. They remained 'faithful', 'active', and even had 'privileges' such as the father eventually making elder.

  The common component was

  This might be controversial but I think that factor often co-related to wealthy witness families.

  MONEY. They had lots, made lots, and spent lots. Their kids would never have to worry even if they did some pioneering. The people I knew 'witnessed' through business contacts thus reducing the amount of time to have to do the 'humbling' door-to-door work. The mother of this family hated meetings and service but was able to play the game anyway and live a good life. They were always looked at out of the corner of the eye by their less wealthy brethren but what the hell would they care about that!

  Nope, they didn't do this either. They use some not overly clever arguments no one is allowed to question maybe, but no proof. Once you know what Rutherford was up to in taking over after Russell, the whole 1918/1919 doctrine reason d'etre becomes quite clear - POWER!

  They are not clear in presenting any evidence that they were selected, or that even any selection occurred at all!

  Yup, you got it.

  Their claims are merely made up, improvable statements! Fantasies!

  Yup, this is the game and fantasies are what many people want whether jw or not.

  hello everyone, i am new to this discussion board.

  my name is pinned blouse because once i was wrongly df'd and i no longer attended the meetings, i noticed all my blouses had pin holes in them where i fastened safety pins in them to make sure i was always "modest" lol.

  mind you i do not have large boobies but i did not want to "tempt" the brothers.. .

  this summer jehovah's witnesses will host 211 conventions in 63 cities in the contiguous united states.

  the public is invited to attend any of these three-day events, which will feature free bible-based presentations under the theme "walk with god.

  I just knew Alaska and Hawaii didn't really matter to US convention stats!

  The public is invited to attend any of these three-day events, which will feature free Bible-based presentations under the theme "Walk With God."

  The public invite doesn't include 'postates or happily df'd/da'd ones (or danny hazzard either lol) The....barf....loosely and rarely 'bible-based' presentations have to be free so anyone will attend and even then jws still won't tip at the hotels and restaurants!

  The sessions promise to be interesting and informative for all in attendance.

  Heh heh heh....need I say more. This is classic crap speaking for 'all'. The last few years attending were painful, a waste of time, boring and most uninformative. The best part was all the hotties during the lunchbreak - the one good thing about the convention being in the summer. Thank God for campers so I could get a little post-lunch shut-eye!

  Wow! Congrats to Simon, Ang and all the others who make this the lifesaving 'ark' that it (usually) is.

  The thing I really appreciate about this site is that it isn't all about its founder unlike the cult of e-watchman and that closed and controlled environment over there.

  Hope it all keeps on as long as possible....
