Do you think people take the bible too seriously?

i know the bible has a lot of important lessons in it, but such a controversial book that is likely changed and such is quite a bit to live your life by.

i mean, how do you know that daniel wasn't a constant opium user?

or how do you know that the bible is complete?

Two problems I have with the authenticity of the bible.

1. Bible says man is only 6,000 years old. We know for a fact man has been here for over 20,000 years.

2. This may be personal, but I feel it makes sense: I look at the extremists of the middle east (Jews & Muslems) and I think... These are the people who wrote the bible! I don't think they've gotten worse over the centuries, if anything they have lightened up. They believe in stoning women for adultry but of course not the men. Don't eat this, do that, cover your face... bla, bla, bla...

I would never follow people like that.

I called my friend, Carlos, in Madrid

Quoting myself,

I did not mention that when I spoke to Carlos yesterday, he told me he and many of his classmates (College Freshman) went to give blood, but had to turn around and go home... because there were so many people there already to give blood, the hospital was turning people away!

Thank God for non-jws.

generally, i never get depressed and am fairly resilient when having to cope with change.

all my life, i suddenly stopped everything last december.

I joined groups as well. Museums, symphany, live theatre. I would go to the mixers and funtions as well, that's where you can really meet people.

the pertinent information dealt with confirmation that a ngo by the name of the watchtower bible and tract society of new york , inc. (watchtower) held an ?associated ngo?

this may not seem as an important issue to the united nations.

1) a photocopy of the original 1991 letter from the watchtower to the dpi requesting an application form for ?associate ngo?

One thought occurs to me: the ever-opportunistic WTS would spin the UN posting all of that information on their NGO application as the very fulfillment of the prophecies that the United Nations would turn on Jehovah's people. I am dead serious that they may indeed take that approach and use it to feed the persecution complex.

Also, Witnesses love be persicuted! Look we are God's people - we are being persicuted! So, that's us! The ex-jw's has turned against God's people, US. My god we are rightious (sp) bla, bla, bla, bla...

I called my friend, Carlos, in Madrid this morning when I awoke. Unbelievable! At least for me (a bit selfish I suppose), not my friend nor his family or friends were hurt.

My love and empathy to those who were affected.
