I am ABSOLUTELY SICKENED!!!!! But I am also reminded of how I was smacked at the meeting repeatedly for talking to someone next to me, or sleeping or drawing, or having to go to the bathroom more than once. And it wasn't always my mother who did this. My mother sometimes allowed the woman who studied with before she was baptized take me outside and pretty much beat me. Not one smack or two, but like 10 or 15. That;s all I have to say. BBBAAAARRRRRFFFFFFF!

I think they all look like they are on PCP or LSD. I used to think as a child that they couldn't be real people because real people don't smile like that.

Nothing positive to offer!
by cornish inthe biggest objection that most current borg members have to leaving is that even though there may be false and wrongs in their religion there is nothing better or nothing else which is positive that anyone else or anything else has to offer.
it seems that truth is not the primary criteria of most j w s even though they use the word truth in a completely habitual way, but they will not be shifted from a nice cosy illusion true or false, so how would you answer the objection that there is nothing positive to offer outside the watchtower?
how would you answer this in a direct and forthright way ?

Well, this is a tough one. I agree with Hippikon, but most people don't like reality. There is a saying that drugs are a crutch for people who can't handle reality. Religion is the same. The people who use that excuse for not leaving are the kind that need social acceptance, etc, etc. All I can suggest is that they attend other church groups, and see what they're like. I myself struggled with this for a long time, sometimes I wanted to go back. But then I just realized that we are already living in hell, and there is nothing you can do about it except for make the best of it, and do what you feel is right. In the words of two great men, Tryone and Puma, "Hakuna Matata".

Hawkaw,
I know your pain from an up close and personal standpoint. My mother is a JW, and she is mentally handicapped. She was sucked in around the late 70's, but never got baptized until the early 90's. I feel that they prey upon people in a state of lowered mentally capability, because they know that they won't question what they say. It makes me sick as well...I have tried many times, to show my mother proof that they are wrong, but she just won't listen...she's brainwashed. I think I need to use the barf bag now too.

Richard Scarry's Best Field Service Story--EVER
by LDH inok so pardon me for the take off on richard scarry--he really is one of my favorite all time children's authors.. but i had to share this field service story with you--it's the gospel truth!
hopefully, you can add some of yours.. while pioneering in upstate ny, my sister and i had frequent occasions to work in service with a married pioneer couple.
yes, they were window washers, but that's not the real story here.. they had a return visit on an elderly gentleman who was kind enough to take the magazines every once in a while.

My story isn't super funny, but i'll let ya'll decide.
One Saturday, I went with my mother to this bible study of hers. THe lady's name was Catherine, same as my mother, and she was quite old, probably in her late 70's. She seemed a little on the senile side I remember, but my mom is mentally disabled, and senile a bit too, so they worked well together. Anyway, I was sitting in one corner of the room, while my mother was sitting in a chair. The woman got up to get my mother a drink, and I noticed something white on the back of her pants, almost like a post-it note, but I really couldn't tell because the lighting was very bad. When the woman came back from the kitchen, she walked over towards my mother, and I got a real good look at the white thing. Turns out the white thing, was a sanitary napkin. Apparently the woman forgot how to apply them, and put it on the outside of her pants!!!! I'll never forget that one. My mother wanted to tell her, but couldn't bare to embarras her. There was another sister there that day, and the other sister told her while we were all standing outside. Two neighbors looked outside because they heard what the loudmouth said. The woman turned so red, excused herself and ran into the house. She died a week later!!!!

What Will Occur In 2012 When Mayan Calender Ends?
by Big Jim inwhat will occur in 2012 when the mayan calendar ends?
when people say the mayan calendar ends in 2012, they're referring to the end of one 5125-year cycle that began in 3114 b.c.
this cycle ends on december 21, 2012 (although some peg the date as the 22nd), marking the end of the mayan cyclical calendar.

People...you are being rude!! Jim, I think that was a very interesting post. If you could, share some more about this theory, because i've never heard of that before. I doubt the world is actually going to end, or that time will disappear (time only exists in the human mind to set a limit anyway) but i think that something has to happen sometime.

3 meetings per week NOT FIVE!!!
by sawthelight inam i the only person ever to fall under the influence of the borg who can count?.
no offence all but jws meet three times per week.not five!
i consider the familiar statement about 5 meetings per week to be a good indication of just how indoctrinated a person is.
-
AngelofMuZiC
Sawthelight,
I know your pain. The whole five meetings a week thing really pissed me off too, and I even brought it up to an elder once. He told me they worded it that way because each meeting was about a different subject in the ministry..(they all sounded the same to me)

Disfellowshipping--The Christian View
by comment inexcerpt from the watchtower, october 15, 2006: "disfellowshipping--the christian view".
12. likewise in modern times, the christian congregation is compelled to disfellowship unrepentant wrongdoers.
but what of those who sincerely regret the reproach they have brought upon jehovah's name, organization and people?

YEAH.....AND PIGS FLY!!! It would be real nice to open up a WT and see that, but I truly doubt that would ever happen!!! But, good writing though. Maybe you should send this to the WTS, eh?
