  i doubt i shall be hearing from my sister in a while.

  she is a jw and has known i am gay and all about the smoking etc etc.

  she said it did not bother her and that i am still her brother!

  Sorry she is giving you such a hard time.

  She sounds like my fanantical sister - a top of the class little dub when it suits her.

  Recently it was my grandmother's 80th birthday, she has never been a JW and so the non JW family had arranged a party for her and my sister decided that, on this occasion, she would make an exeption and attend. That was until she found out that our df'd brother was going to be going. She then threw a huge tantrum (which temporarily resulted in her disowning her parents for a week or so, because somehow this was their fault) about how she could not possibly be in the same room as a df'd person (this is her brother she is talking about!) and that he should be staying away because she was going. This disappointed my gran as she was really pleased that everyone would be coming. What she failed to see was that she had agreed to go to a birthday party, which was already against her religion!

  i thought it might be a good idea to find out at what age or after how long we descided to leave the watchtower.. prehaps we my find a patern in it which we could use .. i think what we need to know are ,.

  yes, i would like to introduce a long standing friend of mine who has stopped attending meetings.

  he missed out on education opportunities because he pioneered at 16. he stopped when he was 24. by then it had taken its toll.

  bad news again.

  my little grand daughter has the pneumonia and other viral infections and is very ill and in the hospital.

  this really hurts.

  Agree LT about Darius, I was sure he would win as he seemed the most talented. But I can see him being snapped up by some agent.

  My wife's anxiety, guilt

  my wife has been depressed each time we see our jw friends.

  she doesn't want to see them anymore, because it reminds her of what she left behind, and it makes her feel bad.. i've offered to go back to meetings for a while to help her break away.

  she never wants to go back, but her guilt and anger make her so uncomfortable around active jw's.....it's really bothering her.. any good books out there on breaking away from controlling organizations, especially concentrating on keeping the friendships but not the allegiance to the organization in question?

  Sorry your having a hard time at the moment.

  One of the hardest things after leaving for me was leaving behind friends, I understand what you mean about the lack of focus.

  I have started working towards a degree, which has helped me greatly, as it gives me something to concentrate on and work towards, maybe learning something new would give your wife the structure and goals that she feels she needs at the moment.

  note: from this point forward begins not only my final journey out of the jws, but even more bizarre and twisted turns in the road.

  i hope you all find this interesting, because to me it only gets more intriguing and weird for the 3 12 years following january 1992... moment of decision: i can point back to the mountain top visit with god, or maybe today i might call it a visit with my higher power, whomever she/he/it might be.
