the plaintiff claimed harrassment and physical abuse by the elders.
apparently the court awarded costs amounting to around $30,000 australian to the plaintiff.

ok.. firstly let me see i can explain this with out too much rambling..... for those who know me, know that i was disfellowshiped in june this year.
before this time, my mother, stepfather and sister shunned me.
since my disfellowshipping, i have not had contact with my parents and an occasional text message from my sister.. i found out last week that my sister was getting married on the saturday just gone (11th october) so i decided to give her a call on friday to wish her luck for her wedding.

Interesting thoughts.
I think it is like growing up in a sense, and being in control of your choices in life.
I dont think going back to religion in general or JW's in particular is going back to innocence, I think it is a life style chosen in order to abrogate having to think to deeply about the future of either the worlds destiny or ones own. Leave everything to the big man in the sky.
So in that sense it is childish but not innocent.
Innocence once lost can never be regained.
I will probably annoy some by these thoughts. If so I am sorry, but at this time they are what I feel and believe. (After a religious life for more than 40 years).

Maybe when a country like France (who dont seem to be afraid to go against the tide) picks up on what they are really like than action will be taken by governments.

okay...so i'm invited to a baby shower for my daughter-in-law which will most likely be attended by myriads upon myriads of jw's.
i won't go into the nasty details...but they've been married four years now and have another little daughter...their wedding was boycotted by most jw's because she was not baptized yet (but grew up a jw)...and my son was.
so every since the wedding fiasco...they have been pretty much shunned by the jw's...and attend meetings infrequently.

first i would like to thank you all for your courage to tell the truth about " the truth" and watchtower, and by helping ones like my family get so much information about witnesses.. just a quick introduction: we came to canada from yugoslavia 12 years ago and two years after we were baptized as a jws.
because of that , our relatives in canada shunned us for betraying ortodox faith .
now 10 years later we are shunned by our jw "friends" even thou we are not disfellowshiped nor did we disassociated ourselves.after reading information on this board about un, paedophilia and inhumane treatment of many who just did not agree with some practices, we just couldn`t go to meetings anymore.
