To Loyal Witnesses: Please Listen!
by metatron inif you are a loyal, zealous witness, please listen to me.. i'm going to tell you straight from my heart, right out of.
my hard-won personal experience, how to avoid unhappiness.. here it is:.
don't bet on games you can't win.. let me illustrate.

Hi Metatron, you sound like my husband. He thought that by being loving and kind as an elder he could make other elders act the same. But they dont you just get burnt out.
It can take years to realise that ignorant and arrogant elders are actually just what that society want and that kind and loving individuals are a nuisance to the org.
Kind elders will even question the societies policies when they see people being hurt and mistreated, so the ones who are willing to be society men with all its evils are the ones who prosper.
Metatron you werent a fool. You were innocent and naive as to the orgs true colours. Only someone who has been an elder for years can begin to understand what they are truly like.
Thankyou for your interesting post. -

If Noah had to build an ark today he'd...
by Wayne inif noah had lived in the united states today the story may have gone something like this: .
and the lord spoke to noah and said, "in one year, i am going to make it rain and cover the whole earth with water until all flesh is destroyed.
but i want you to save the righteous people and two of every kind of living thing on earth.

Tonight's memorial. - The Point.

i strongly encourage you to take the time and see 'the point' for yourself.. .
you begin to sign and then you see that the number of pints of blood to be taken is empty.

I am sorry but I find that type of emotional blackmail sick.
What people like you fail to acknowledge is that the whole scenario of death to combat death could/should have been avoided by an omnipotent being.
Do you do something good for your child and then hold that over them for the rest of their lives as some kind of IOU. -

Meetings
by OrangeBlossom indo you think the wts will ever reduce the number of meetings per week, maybe drop one night a week?
just curious!
it seems that everyone is so whipped from working all day, i really think that's why there is such a drop in meeting attendance.

Can anybody tell me why there are 5 meetings a week?
Where and why did such a format start.
It is not even hinted at in Heb 10 about a set number os times to gather as my daughter has pointed out to the local elders many times, but none of them can come up with an answer.
Can anyone out there? -

Hi Mr A
Welcome.
I have often wondered along similar thoughts.
What do they get from it?
Are any of the GB wealthy?
Is it for a cushy lifestyle?
Is it to boost already inflated egos?
Any more ideas? -

A different thought re "flickering light&q...
by comment indoes it seem plausible to you that some of the society's apparent flip-flops on doctrine are simply errors by the writing department?.
for instance, take the question of whether the inhabitants of sodom and gomorrah will be resurrected.
around 1989, the revised edition of you can live forever in paradise said no, the insight book said something else and the revelation climax book said something else.

Thats absolutely fine by me if anyone wants to claim pressure of workload or lack of attention to detail for sloppy and inaccurate information being printed.
BUT NOT when people are supposed to alter and live according to such seemingly abitrary thoughts and understandings.
How much concession would the r&f jdub be given if they reacted in a similar lackadaisical way when applying these supposed missives from above-you must keep up with the chariot etc-.
We must judge them as they do us. -

Assemblies...conventions...special days...
by NikL inthere is a phenomenon in dub dom that i have always hated.
the circuit/district convention.. people will spend hard earned money, use up any vacation they may have to travel to a city they don't really have any particular reason to see to sit for entire days and listen to the same b.s.
they could sit and listen to at the meetings in their home kingdom hall.

Yuck assemblies and conventions.
I never in 20 years enjoyed one. They were hard work with a young family, expensive and boring.
Sitting in a football/rugby ground - designed for men in casual clothes - in your new/best clothes and heeled shoes trying to keep warm, dry and awake.
I remember the last prayer always seemed to go on and on and if you were holding a tired child in your arms standing near the top of terraced seating you felt very unstable, and then everybody clapped afetr the prayer, was it because it was sooo good or because ha had at last finished. I will never know ( I never clapped). Then joy of joys at the next SM we could discuss it all.
I miss them like a hole in the head.
