  celebration of birthdays...a matter of conscience?

  my family and i have argued about this for awhile now and i would like someone to confirm this.

  back in the late nineties at a district convention during the late sunday afternoon (yawn) symposium i swear i heard mention that the society now views the celebration of ones birthday to be a conscience matter and should be done with extreme caution so as not to affend others who may still view it as wrong.

  forgive me for not remembering which year it was that this was mentioned.

  before i go into the explanation of what xenu is trying to do on this board and presenting the information about his cult i would like to express my agenda up front and absolutely clear.

  this board is now just shy of 5000 registered users.

  i'm sure the amount of unregistered lurkers drives that figure up much higher, possibly more than double.

  i was born and raised a witness.

  baptized at 14. pioneered after high school and was accepted to bethel when i was 19. got booted from bethel on my 21st b-day because someone exposed me for underage drinking prior to my 21st b-day.

  after i left bethel, nothing was ever the same, and my eyes began to be opened and i started seeing more clearly.

  Help with "APOSTATE"

  we call the wt the "borg" & their followers "dubs" etc., these are describtive words that (we) have given them.. my question is this: why do we refer to ourselves as "apostates"?

  this is their (derogatory) name for us.. what can we call ourselves, how bout "liberators"?

  I was in some personal denial when I read in this post about the dictionary definition for apostate so I looked it up.

  Wooohooo! I'm an apostate!!!! First thing that came to mind was to go get a vanity license plate made at the mall for my car that reads "APOSTATE".... LOL

  What does your ID or Nick say about you?

  someone replied to a post i entered and got me thinking what others perceive about us due to the nicks or id we have chosen.

  some of the nicks i am sure are just self explanatory , others are cute, or simple.

  although i suspect that very many in this room,took time to think of theirs and definitly the nick holds some little secret as to who they are as a person.

  Questions to ask the Dub at your door

  You guys must all have attended different service meetings than I did because I was taught that when someone posed a question that was intended to trip you up and say something that was contradictory to the WTS teaching you were to politely excuse yourself, for that person was directed by satan to waste your time and that there were other "sheep" that wanted to hear gods word.

  BTW, I secretly moved my family over 1200 miles away just to distance myself from the harrassment of my parents. That pissed them off royally!!! Now my mother resorts to emailing, calling on the phone, and sending videos.

  Moving doesn't solve anything...

  I want to thank all of you for taking time out to post on this topic. I'm going to print it out and start making some notes based on some of the posts for future phone conversations with my mother. You all are great! Thanks again to all that posted!!!!

  I told my mother that I did not want to live forever in paradise because I can't stand the religious zealotry that I see in a lot of the witnesses.

  Her retort was that "we will all be moving closer to perfection then and things will all begin to work many times more smoothly than they do now"

  When I was about ten I was sitting in the B school waiting to give a number two talk and I leaned sideways and let one reverberate on the the metal folding chair I was on. I could hardly make it through my talk with out laughing.

  It was one of the highlights of my years as a JW...LOL

  answering the door nekkid...

  i remember several times in the past knocking on doors in the ministry and some bodacious babe would answer the door naked, semi-naked, or extremly suggestively dressed.

  how many of you guys/gals has this happened to?.

  i think i'm going to answer the door naked the next time some witness sisters show up at my front door....lol i can't wait.
