  Wow that UN scandal really DOES work wonders

  i'm totally amazed.

  i gave that un report to my (hardcore jw to the extreme max, but in a nice way) aunt, and she didn't speak of it for several days.

  when she said nothing, i knew i'd gotten somewhere.. today she finally spoke up.

  After my last post, I feel that I need to add that my mom thought she was doing the right thing. We have a very good relationship and she has apologized and cried many times for raising us in this crazy religion. By the way, I am apologizing to my own sons for trying to raise them in the same religion. They both got over it as teenagers....I have apologized to them for putting them through this insanity as well. I was just a little more liberal in believing that they had a right to choose the road they wanted to take as they were older. MY sons and I are very close and I never went along with treating them badly because they didn't attend meetings. They meant the world to me and still do.

  dozy...I don't know how long you have been a JW...but I'll tell you what effect this info had on my mom. She was a dyed-in-the-wool witness for over 50 yrs. She could count on one hand the times she ever missed a meeting or service. I had chicken-pox when I was 6 and she didn't miss the meeting for that, and I was SICK!!!!

  When she read the info about the U.N. which she had despised and preached about for 50 yrs as the "great harlot" and that the WTS was an NGO...she NEVER attended another meeting!!! She left a year before I did. I kept thinking they would apologize, but that never happened, only a "library card" excuse! Just wasn't good enough!!! Yeah, it is a BIG DEAL to anyone who truly bought into the organization!!! The ones who see this and don't leave have DENIAL issues that they can't address!

  Had a nice surprise today

  i had a phone call today from an old friend and, to be honest, it was one i had been dreading.

  the lady in question used to be my pioneer partner, we got baptised on the same day, march 26th 1983, and started pioneering at the same time, and have been friends for well over 20 years.. a few years ago yvonne and her husband steve left derby and moved to south wales, but we have kept in touch, and i have visited them on several occasions, but haven't told them that i am no longer a jw, so when i got the call today i thought she was ringing me about our baptism anniversary, which would have been this sunday.

  she had tried ringing my old number, which i am no longer on, and decided to try my mobile.

  While Bubba and Billy Bob were in the local Wal-Mart, they decided to get in on the weekly charity raffle.
  
  They bought five tickets each at a dollar a pop. The following week, when the raffle was drawn, each had won a prize.
  
  Billy Bob won 1st place- a year's supply of gourmet spaghetti sauce and extra long spaghetti.
  
  Bubba won 6th prize- a toilet brush.
  
  About a week or so had passed when the men met back at Wal-Mart. Bubba asked Billy Bob how he liked his prize, to which Billy Bob replied, "Great!, I love spaghetti!"
  
  Billy Bob asked Bubba, "How 'bout you, how's the toilet brush? "Not so good," replied Bubba, "I reckon I'm gonna switch back to paper."

  "Bubba, where'd you get that truck?!?"

  "Bobby Sue gave it to me" Bubba replied.

  "She gave it to you? I knew she was kinda sweet on ya, but a new 

  truck?"

  "Well, Jimmy Joe, let me tell you what happened. We were driving out on

  County Road 6, in the middle of nowhere. Bobby Sue pulled off the road, 

  put the truck in 4-wheel drive, and headed into the woods. She parked the truck,

  got out, threw off all her clothes and said,

  'Bubba, take whatever you want'.

  So I took the truck!"

  "Bubba, you're a smart man!. Them clothes woulda never fit you!"

  Legolas...I missed last weeks performances! Sorry I missed the spider bit! She just needs to grow up and get out of the backwoods...I know people around here that have never been to the beach or mountains. They live their entire lives seeing very little of the world...it's really sad! It's amazing to me that she can sing and remember the words! LOL!

  howdy all.. it's amazing how modernized the world is now.

  i'm wondering if any of you people think that computerized and new technology is taking away the fun of natural life?.

  eg 1. children are behind computers games more than playing in the park.

  Blessed Star This sounded like a nice post to me...nothing offensive and yet you would think by the comments that you had walked into a beehive!!! Can anyone start a thread about anything besides sex and not be eaten alive??? Sometimes if you don't have anything nice to say....say nothing at all!!! Ever heard that one? Swalker
