10 years ago i stopped attending jehovah's witness meetings for good.

walked out of the kingdom hall cold turkey never to return based on injustices i observed among others and myself at the hands of elders giving out not god's counsel but personal opinions as counsel .

some of them weren't even giving out wt society counsel- just personal opinions.

I haven't posted on here in years! Just thought I'd drop back in and see what was going on. I enjoyed your post. I've been out 13 years now and I'm so glad to be out from under the control of a cult. Yes, it is a CULT....the mind control part is very difficult to overcome when leaving. It literally takes a number of years to undo all the damage that has been done to our brains. I posted a video earlier that uses imagery showing the affect the organization has on our minds. There are a lot of ex JW's making good use of YouTube in the last few years. I just happened to come across a few as I was researching something entirely different and it actually made me think about this site....I didn't know if my password would still work! LOL! I had to look through a lot of info to find it. Which is a good thing, because I got on with my life! This site really helped me to work through all the issues with leaving the JW's and I'm so glad it's still around helping others on their journey out.

I love it!!! You have to be from the south (or Southern at heart) to appreciate all the inside jokes, etc. I have a neighbor, that is very nice, and he looks and acts like the "Duck" family members! LOL! He has the beard and hunts and fishes all the time. So, I grew up around these kind of people.

i had a hard time stomaching this, just made me sick that someone could do this to a helpless animal.

I've taken in 2 stray cats in the last 2 years!!! I just can't sit back and watch when any animal or person is hungry! I can't believe the rising cost of dog and cat food, though. I've been fortunate to get rebates and coupons and that has helped a lot.

I can not imagine how anyone can just leave their pets in that condition! I couldn't sleep at night!!!

After reading the article, I have to admit that it's hard to place the blame on any one group, there were so many that had their hand in the cookie jar! I think I've had 2 homes with adjustable mortgages and of course the payment varied with the interest rate. When I purchased the homes, I took the highest figure and determined that I could pay it and left myself a considerable margin in case things went wrong with my job. I'm having a hard time understanding why anyone would get a mortgage at the lowest rate and not allow themselves room in case it reached the higher one.

I can completely understand if someone lost their job, but this isn't the cause in a majority of the cases. These people are not that stupid. Why would the borrower risk this? Greed? Perception that home prices will forever keep rising? Drugs?

Brant Jones Letters to and From the Watchtower- 2005-06

thanks to scully, i have figured out where to put these letters so all that would like to access them and read them can do so.--just click on the link below.. don't expect a lot from the letters, as i am a brick mason and not the brightest bulb on the (new) christmas tree.. in my correspondence with the wt, i exerted all my effort to keep the discussion on just the un, even though i did have misgivings on other matters.

i thought if i was able to keep the discussion on just the un that it would prove to be more difficult for them to disfellowship me, as it was their conduct that i was opposing, conduct that violated their own teachings.. it worked to some extent, as they had to trump up charges on us that we started our own religion because we had the memorial celebration in 2006 with our family rather than at the kingdumb hall.

it was a real pleasure to be disfellowshipped for their sin.

I almost quit in 1995, when the WT changed the generation teaching. The reason being was that I promised myself if they EVER abandoned the 1914 teaching that I would quit. Not because I was so sold on the 1914 date, but because they hung so much of their 'internal' evidence as being God's Organization on that date. So when they changed the MEANING of the GENERATION teaching, I became fairly hostile, recognizing that they CHANGED the 1914 teaching in its most basic sense, but then by changing the meaning of the generation, they made it difficult to prove that they really abandoned the 1914 belief, while we all know that is exactly what happened.

Great minds think alike!!! I still remember the day I read that Watchtower and how I felt. For me that was the beginning of the end, and the U.N. issue was the icing on the cake!

Getting the forum back on track

recently we seem to have had a few different dramas and subsequent fallout on the fourm which i feel has detracted from its purpose.

with this in mind we have decided that we need to bring the forum back on track and as such we will be clamping down on a lot of the aggressive / insulting posts which have begun to become the norm for a few people.

we will also be clamping down on the paranoid assusation type of comments against newbies, if someone joins the fourm and you do not believe everything they post - so what, why do we need to hound them away with shouts of troll and fake etc, just ignore them if you dont beleive them.

Why I like being a Jehovah's Witness

there are so many reasons why i like being a jehovahs's witness.. 1. we get to count time when we share our faith with nonbelievers or our young children.. 2. we don't have to go to college to get a good job as a janitor or a window washer.. 3. we get to celebrate the birth of a child but not the anniversary of the birth.. 4. we don't pass a collection plate at our meetings and we get to put in our wills that when.

we die that our house, cd's, jewelery, life insurance, and cash can go the the watchtower society.

so that our family doesn't have to worry about those things.. 5. we don't have to be with our families during the holidays to enjoy each other company and eat the.
