first off let me thanks for your contributions in advance.. i read this term in post that gave it a negative slant.. masterbaition is good and whole some,,why would some one use it as negative,,unless they veiwed it a negative??

The same issue is being discussed in the "That's so gay" thread. It seems that the easiest way to derogate an activity you don't like is to sexualize it in some negative way. Masturbation and homosexuality, even if some of us feel are not negative in any way, are still stigmatized in many sections of society and are thus semiotically legible as indexers of negative attitudes towards the activities described in such a manner.
Is that your way of saying that those who disapprove of homosexuals and masturbation are gay?

What Made You Feel Most Guilty While You Were A Witness?
by minimus infor me, it was knowing that this wasn't the only "truth" yet feeling responsible to carry thr "party" line and "encourage" others to remain steadfast in the "truth".

For me, spanking the monkey was the big issue. I used to think that Armageddon would come while doing it, and that somehow people would be able to tell that I had done it, just by looking at me. I was afraid to go to the Dr. Office, as the Dr. was a brother, and somehow he would be able to tell. The WBTS can definately make one paranoid!!!

Throwing mags away in public places
by gwyneth ini did a search and couldn't find another post on this subject, so i hope this hasn't been addressed too recently already.... i systematically throw away wtbts literature that i find in public places (restrooms, and most recently, eight, count 'em, eight mags at the train station that had about 20 chairs in it (four sets of the same magazines--someone had a good month!
) i rolled them up and deposited them into the trash, my father was shocked and said that people should be given the chance to read them.
i said i was saving people from exposure from a cult.

Memory Lane
by exjdub inmrs. exjdub and i were talking about the jwd board the other night and, after discussing many of the topics that are on the board, we started reminiscing.
pretty soon we started laughing until we had tears in our eyes remembering the "joy" of conventions in the old days.
mrs. exj remembers camping in scarborough, maine during the convention and waking up in the morning to damp sleeping bags from the moisture in the air, trying to run to the community showers before the session, feeling dirty all of the time because of the dust, sitting in the blazing sun at the racetrack, getting rained on, etc.

1983. Dodgers Stadium.
We were camping in our camper in the stadium parking lot with many many other JW's from out of town. Danny, a local brother from our hometown was camped, along with his wife and kids, just a couple of spaces down from us. One evening he appeared at our site to see if one of the sisters hangin out with us had a maxi-pad.
We all assumed he was asking for either his wife or one of his daughters, but it was kind of odd that he was the one asking . . . and so openly too.
Turns out that Danny's hemmoroids were on fire! What was the old boy's protocol for relief? Slather a gob of vaseline on a maxi-pad and stick it right between your buttcheeks!
When some of us younger brothers gave him a ribbing about it he simply replied, "hey, when your butt is on fire, you do what you have to do. Besides, it sort of feels like you are riding a bicycle . . . it's not bad."

I am not attracted to overweight women, and genetics and all kind of other stuff really determines what is a healthy weight for each and every person. Even at that healthy weight, some women fall short of mirroring the ideal image of what a woman is supposed to look like inour society. How sad that so much emphasis is placed in looking so unnatural and how it is all guaged by such an unrealistic standard.
Neither am I attracted to skinny women. Aside from weight and size, there has to be some kind of confidence and determination in the eyes of the one that attracts me. No matter how fat or skinny, they must display a love and respect (for self) and confidence in themselves from the start. To me, that is sexy as hell!

My ex-wife use to tell my kids the same thing, that if I did not get reinstated I was going to die and would not make it into the new system. Finally my oldest daughter, who was around 9 years old at the time, told my ex-wife, "Then if dad is going to die at Armageddon, I want to die too".
While my daughter really did not believe I was going to die, and she was just making a point to her mother, her mother then used what our daughter said ("Then if dad is going to die at Armageddon, I want to die too".) to guilt me. My ex-wife would tell me, "OMG, Corvin, you see what you are doing to your kids!? What kind of an example are you setting for them? Because of you they do not even want to serve Jehovah and live in the new system . . . "
What a wicked bee-yotch.
