my question to you: why does god permit evil?
this is not a bait but something i'd really like to get your view on.
thanks.. bradley
Raising at least the following two questions:
To what extent is "free will" free?
What can be categorically considered to be "evil"?
Good questions, LT. What are some of the possibilities in your opinion?

for those of you that have seen recent documentarys (i can't remember the program names), there seems to be a few finds of importance regarding man's earliest ancestors.. .
one documentary i watched was about the discovery of an unusual skeleton, they suggested it was a bipedal - it walked on two legs.
but, the jaw and other parts of the skeleton were not completely human like.. .
LOL @ steve.
I saw a thing on the Discovery Channel or some such cable station that talked about the unusually tall skelton's found in caves that were carbon dated back to right around Noah's day. (The first thing I thought was how in the world did they trace Red Skelton's ancestry that far back? JK) I think they called them some kind of Neandertal Man, but the first thing I thought of was the Nephilim. I don't know much more about it, tho.

shaken, but apparently not stirred.
yesterday in a q & a with editors from detroit area newspapers president bush said he was "shaken" by reports of abuse of prisoners in us military custody in iraq.
yet, according to his press secretary this morning, he hasn't even looked at the taguba report, the one people around the world are buzzing about in disappointment and outrage and half of washington seems already to be reading.

my brief membership to the e-watchman's site was a sickening reminder of the brainwashing and hypocrisy of the wtbts.
through my sources, i have obtained a rare picture of the illusive e-watchman.
why does he look so familiar to me .
Yes, I have read many of the posts. It is the same JW crap with the Watchman's own perverted twist. The gayest thing about the board is that while they all speak out against the organization, it's lies and deceptions, they encourage all to stay in the organization and keep quiet about what they know. They openly say, "where else would be go if not the organization? We will wait on Jehovah!" They do not consider themselves apostates, but do you think they would dare talk openly in the congregation about their gripes? No. They know they would be spat out faster than a straight double shot of Bicardi 151 and denounced as apostates. What chickenshytes. If you ask any real questions that threatens their mindless dogma, you get deleted real fast.
They are apostates by the WTBTS's standards and they know it. It is disgusting to me, an apostate who came by my status honestly.

Regarding "free will", is it not so that many of our choices in life are a matter of deciding which is the lessor of two evils? Choosing between mere good and evil would be too easy. God seems to allow for lots of shades of grey.
As was said before, the WTBTS's explanation of why God permits evil is probably the most well thought out I can think of, and such an explanation isn't limited or confined within the WT's other teachings and could be given weight when applied to many other religious doctrines from other faiths.
Personally, if I were God, I would have made the earth like an Echa-sketch; when mankind goes too far south, just shake it and start over . . . that's shaken, not stirred. :oP

being only newly freed from the wts, there are many people who were my friends that i would like to be able to explain the truth about many of the points raised on this board.
so i have decided to compile a publication that i can mail to them with short succinct, hardhitting reasoning on areas where the wts is misleading them and also areas where they are saying one thing but practising another.
i would like to be able to limit the explanations to one topic per page with the hope that if there is not too much too read they may just bother to read it.
Just to add regarding the cross: While it is a good thing to clearly indicate whether or not the WTBTS has it right about the cross vs stake, I have never understood in either case why the instrument of Jesus' death would be significant, or why "Christians" feel they need to venerate the instrument of Jesus' death.
If Jesus had've died in the electric chair, I suppose "Christians" would be wearing a scale replica one of those around their necks instead.
