Do You Recognize Your Baptism?

154) i brought this up, although it has probably been discussed before, because i am sure some people right now are worrying how to handle an elder's visit or call.

NO ,I do not recognize my baptism, I was only 15! I was still living under my parents roof and should have still been under their protection. Would they have let me get married at 15? Hell No. How about move out on my own? Hell NO, Yet I was allowed to dedicate my life to god and open up the possability of being disfellowshiped if I stumbled in my faith and did something wrong. There is a pattern here and I have always found it very disturbing . Does ANYBODY get baptized later in life who was raised as a witness? All the ages are 10, 12, 14 ,15 ,etc. ,etc.It seems the society only baptizes children 95% of the time. Why don't we follow Jesus' example and get baptized in our 30's? If everything is written in the bible for a reason the fact that his age is mentioned seems significant to me. But then again I am blind now and stupid and don't have gods Holy Spirit telling me whats right, AND I'm a woman so strike two for me. I know , i know ,I'm just "twisting things" You know how us EX-witnesses like to do that .LOL.

Does the bible ever mention children getting baptized??? Can anyone find a scripture to back it up??

Would You Wear Religious Jewelry Comfortably Now???

would you honestly be comfortable to wear a cross, a crucifix or a religious medal of some sort?.

i'm curious as to how many would feel "weird" about it now..

oh yes ,i have no prblem wearing the cross , when and if someone asks me about it I say" oh yes I love to wear the lower case T. THATS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE SO THATS WHAT I CALL IT.

WE just had our baby boy!!!!!!!!!

well we now have a wonderful happy healthy baby boy ,as of march 30th.

not getting much sleep ,but oh well , he is a joy to have.so wish us luck, we have a 18 month old also, so this should be interesting.

so far my in-laws have not even come to visit or see him at the hospital or to our home , even though they have been told they are always welcome.

So yeah, this really makes me want to go back , seeing people who should be loving, being so cold and heartless as to not even want to see their brand new beautiful inocent grandson. Not even a phone call fron one family member on that side to see if he and I are doing well after the c-section .How loving.

When JW parents shun their df'd children...and grandchildren

this seems the epitome of "lacking natural affection".

can you imagine being a parent and not being interested in how your own children are doing?

and what about carrying it even further, having nothing to do with your grandchildren, just because the parents are disfellowshipped?

My husband and I are not df'd (yet) We have just faded out over time and no longer go or believe the witnesses beliefs.We have a 17 month old who has never had his grandparents, my husbands parents, visit him ,even though they only live about 30 minutes away from us. We did at first drive to their house every month so they could see the baby but have stoped doing that as of this past August,and since then we have not recieved one phone call asking how he is doing or a visit ,even though every time we went there we always made sure to tell them to stop over whenever they wanted , that they were always welcome. I am due March 30 to have our second baby and since we told them that I was pregnant when I was only 5 weeks along they have not once called to see how I am doing and how the pregnancy is going. So now our problem is do we even bother to tell them when we are having the baby? will they even bother to come to the hospital? or will we be rejected by them once again. I am not so concerned for my son and soon to be second son, my family who are not witnesess showers our son with love and attention. But I feel very bad for my husband who has to see his parents acting this way. Because they are dissapointed with our decisions they are shunning out inocent children ? that just makes me sick that people can just be so cold like that. What kind of witness is that giving us? is that suppossed to make us go back? They call that LOVE!? I have seen more love and understanding from who we were trained to call "worldly people",than I have seen from witnesses.

it was quite a shock.

my husband and i have been married for 5 years.

Congrats!!!! I am also pregnant , due April 8. But am having to go in for a schedualled C-section. Enjoy your pregnancy, GOOD LUCK!!! Keep us posted on how its going.

Harry Potter? Are witnesses told not to read it????

i have not been to a meeting for some years now so i would not know if it has been said ,but have the witnesses actually been told straight out not to read the harry potter books?

i ask this because my in-laws have seen me reading them and now think i am into evil stuff because i have them .

so is it just them or is this what is now taught in the orginization?

And if so are they also not allowed to read or watch the Wizard of Oz? since this has witches and magic in it also and so does almost every fairy tale and Disney movie. so are all of these banned? I mean if Harry Potter is banned should not all of these other stories be also? How do they argue on this point?

Noah's Ark ....How did Noah......................

how did noah put bitumen on the underside of the ark, did he get his family to lift it up allowing him to slide under and paint this on?

the underside being the most important face to be treated needed to be waterproof to make sure it did not allow leaks to occur, and had to stand up to extreme conditions for a whole year.

My husband just last week asked his brother who is still a witness if the flood happened how did all of the animals get back to their country of origin? for example the buffallo is only found in north america so how did they get back? His answer? Well maybe they just floated back over on some wood or stuff? HA HA HA !!! oh yeah and next week I'm going to take some wood and float over to England for a nice vacation. LOL! They could not answer it so it was said if we came back to the truth our questions could ALLLL be answered. LOL. Many animal such as koalas only eat a certain type of food how did all of the different foods that these animals eat get over to the ark to supply them with enough food not only for their time in the ark but for there journey to it and back? There's more holes on this story than swiss cheese.

Baptism and At What Age?

i have seen and noticed that most people who are raised as jw's get baptized at a young age.

ages like 14-19. how is it that someone can dedicate their life to jehovah at these ages, when maturity is still in development?

this seems to be something that jw's push and practice on a regular basis.

I was baptized at 16. i noe consider that null and void. If I legally was not able to get married at that age how could they baptize me that young?

I have always wondered why if we are always told that the things mentioned in the bible are there for us to follow and live our lives by, WHY do we not follow the example set by Jesus and wait until our thirties to get baptized? Why is his age specifically mentioned if not for an example for us to follow? If Jesus had been baptized at 16 and that was mentioned in the bible you sure as hell can believe that that would be the age EVERYONE would be baptized by. Are they scared that with out that control over us that even more of us would leave the org? And so what if more did leave why would they want them around any way if there were not right for their organization. Shouldnt they be concerned with the quality of each witness rather thatn the quantity? If Jesus felt comfortable going around and preaching and teaching to others through his teens and twenties and not making that public declaration of water batism until his thirties why is that not good enough for us to follow?
