  these significant rulings overturn objections regularly made by the watchtower in recent lawsuits and may serve as a precedent for future lawsuits.

  In March 2004 I gave testimony affecting JW abuse cases in California, as some of them come from congregations with which I was associated. Alan F commented very well on the second point about "confessional" confidence. However, the first point is significant, because the Society has tried very hard to shield the Pennsylvania Corporation from being involved in these proceedings. They did this by claiming that the Pennsylvania Corporation has no real connection to local congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses. This ruling means that the Court does not accept the Watchtower's argument, and the Pennsylvania Corporation must be included. This will have serious ramifications for the Watchtower Society as they cannot play the shell game with their plethora of corporations. It looks like the buck stops in Napa, California.

  i talked to him on the phone.

  i said that i wanted an apology for him molesting me and my brother by sunday or i was going to take it to court on monday.

  he denied what he did to us, but he acknowledged yes on all the identifying questions.

  File the lawsuit. Stop posting details for a while, because anything you have written, or is in public domain, his lawyer will have a right to a copy. Everything you have said and written can and will be twisted against you. But, keep us posted as to the general status and especially if you need support.

  how would you answer the jehovah's witness comments (especially the one comparing the library card to a white house press pass)?

  The "e-Watchman" kind of JW is just looking for plausible excuses. The Watchtower Society joined the UN and a NGO because it needed a platform to deal with JWs being persecuted in places like Africa and the Middle East and Asia. When such organizations join the UN as NGO's, they sign an agreement that they agree with, and support all that the UN stands for in its mission and goals. By doing this the Watchtower Society compromised its own teachings against being part of this world. There is no excuse for this, as there was no need to be part of the UN.

  The Field Service Numbers Don't Add Up

  i took these figures out of the 2006 yearbook:.

  total # of hours in field service: 1,278,201,985. total # of peak publishers: 6,613,829. according to my calculations this equals 193.2 hours in field service per publisher, which includes pioneers, special pioneers etc.. no one in our cong.

  averages even close to 100 hours, let alone 193.2. can someone please explain this?

  Warlock,

  Your own comment solves the problem. You state that the total hours include the Pioneers and Special Pioneers. The large amount of Pioneer hours is hurting your results. You need to take the total number of Pioneers and their total hours out, then divide what is left by the number of Publishers. The result will be about 7 to 8 hours per month per Publisher. This has been the case for many decades.

  No. If you are Christian, then you believe that Jesus defeated the Devil and demons when he died and was resurrected, so that they have no power over us anymore.

  Wicked conduct (assuming you are speaking of the Watchtower blood doctrine and the child abuse policies) is a result of either extreme ignorance and stupidity "if" it is being done as sincere following of one's beliefs ... however misguided such beliefs might be, or, it is a result of extreme selfishness and a criminal heart with utter disregard for other people. One can see both elements in the conduct of Watchtower leaders.

  Jehovah, nor Jesus Christ, nor the Holy Spirit have anything to do with the Watchtower, its doctrines, or its conduct.

  if you are a christian, how do you personally relate to the holy spirit?

  do you hear an audible voice external to yourself when he speaks to you?.

  do you hear an inner voice when he speaks to you?.

  Do you hear an audible voice external to yourself when He speaks to you?

  Do you hear an inner voice when He speaks to you?

  If an inner voice, how do you distinguish between your own voice and His?

  Do you not hear a voice, but just have an awareness of what He wants?

  If you have only an awareness, how do you distinguish between Him and your own conscience?

  Do you hear the Holy Spirit by other means, such as through wisdom from people, the Bible, the Church, or when you commune with nature?

  Finally, I would like to compile your responses as part of my BRCI paper. I will not quote you or your exact statements. Rather, I only wish to get a general sense of experiences with the Holy Spirit, if any, and categorize these accordingly.

  Would you shame someone for going back to the Witnesses?

  i was thinking about this, as i have a former witness friend who is showing signs of wanting to go back, even though they have expressed over the years a lot of frustration and lack of belief for the faith.

  as much as i find their decision to be a mistake, i do understand why.

  after all, unlike myself and family, i have never been shunned by the few family members left in and i moved on over the last decade to build new friendships and hobbies.

  About two years ago, a former JW couple I had known for 30-years went back to the Watchtower. They were childless, and their only family are in the organization. Oddly enough, they had been out of the JWs for 20-years before deciding to go back into it.

  What greatly disturbed me was not the fact that they went back, or that they might have to curtail open association with me, but it was the manner in which they returned. One week they were all nice and cheery to me, and the next week I get a call that sounds like they like e-Watchmans' site, and that the Watchtower has some truth. I tried to get them to understand what e-Watchman was about, but that did not work. Then, a month later I get this bombshell e-mail stating that they have been reinstated, and that I am deceived by Satan, and that I am working against Jehovah.

  I did not shame them, because they did that for themselves. But I felt betrayed as a friend. I feel that they had enough time out of the organization and enough exposure to fair information. For they read both of Ray Franz's books, and other material. So, on what basis they returned in the manner that they did is beyond me.

  You are making this far too complicated. Had the verse said, " And as they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the John Smith said, "Separate me Barnabus and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them." - KJV / AV If John Smith said those words, would you have any question about a "person" speaking? Or would you simply think that some bloke named "John Smith" was speaking?

  Let's try this exercise, " And as they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, God said, "Separate me Barnabus and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them." - KJV / AV" If God the Father said those words, would you get all complicated trying to parse out the meaning of the word person, or would you read the verse as God speaking?

  My point is that when it comes to the Holy Spirit, JWs and many ex-JWs seem to have a built in paradigm which demands squirming and wiggling to find another meaning other than what the text simply says. I said nothing about the Trinity. I could care a less about all the legalistic parsing. My goal was to see how people in certain traditions cope with certain phrasing, especially when that phrasing may not match their built-in paradigms.

  I included and continue to include myself among those who still have JW dust afecting our perceptions, and to some degree, controlling our reactions and responses. IW was the first to really get respond to the question without finding it necessary to add in a pile of other stuff. That is all I meant, and nothing in my comments were directed at or to you. I too left the Catholic Church at age 17, so we have a similar issue. Among the reasons I left was that I did not like the Trinity and I liked the simplistic material offerred by Jehovah's Witnesses.

  I am not trying to prove the Trinity or anything. What I was wondering is whether anyone had the ability to answer a simple question with a reasonable response, regardless of what the outcome was. Instead, I get a lot of other "jibber-jabber." - Boston Legalese You are afraid of the Trinity because you, like me, do not like the concept. So anything at all that even remotely approaches the possibility that it maight have some basis, threatens your world view, and you are not able to keep your responses intellectual. I do the same thing at times. That is one reason why I stopped talking about politics, because I fall into the same traps sometimes. Why in the hell do you feel the need to fight me at every turn on this? Why can't you accept me with the benefit of the doubt that I have no agenda to prove anything. My entire series of postings was to elicite ex-JW non-Trinitarian responses. I did this in several ways in order to verify my hypothesis about ex-JW views. I will post a summary of my series with respect to its purpose and its findings for all to follow just where I was headed. Perhaps then, if not now, you might see just what I was trying to accomplish. Finally, if you had really read what I wrote you would not have made such inane allegations about my views. I donb't give a rip what you believe or do not believe. And, other than stating that I affiliate with the Orthodox (free classes in Koine' Greek), I have not stated whether I am even an atheist. I have been closer to what some call "Christian Agnostic." There is even a website dedicated to that cause. All the emotions and presumptions are on your part. You made up your mind decades ago, and will not open your mind. And frankly, "Scarlet, I don't give a damn!" - (Gone with the Wind)
