I would love to see a Physics major create a thesis based on applying Heisenberg Uncertainty Principal to the passage of time at the quantum level.
I'll get to work on it right away! Jim W.
after working on it for a year.
now the judicial comittee thesis committee has two weeks to decide if it's good enough.
if not i don't graduate until they say it's good enough.

just pondering....what are your thoughts?
Yes, they would exist. They would have had a different set of explanations for the timing of events. Likely, they would have used WWII instead as their time of Satan being kicked out of heaven, etc, etc. They would have been much the same as they are today.

i find myself doing research and came across this today.
i know it is long but with the un ngo and popes statement that the un was the last hope of mankind, i feel compelled to print this off.
the united nations meditation room and popes.

Very interesting quotes. The UN is controversial, and will continue to be. To date it has been ineffective at much of its mission. On smaller fronts, it has done some good. But right now the "oil-for-food" scandal is dominating the attention on the UN. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Carmel,
No disrespect intended, but where did you dig up this righwinged neojw pap?
While some of the quotes can easily appear in so-called "right-winged" publications, the existence and mission of the UN is debated on both sides. Some so-called "left-winged" nuts do want a one-world government. Both sides fear each other, and both will likely be proved in error. My guess is that the UN will continue to be a weak and ineffective organization.
Personally, I do not care for the UN because I believe that it is dangerous for humans to centralize and concentrate power in one body. Rather, I like the current system where there is local national authority, and the UN is little more than a forum for debate and some international agreements. The problem is that there are forces in the UN that are seeking to make it more powerful, have more authority, and use it as a force against capitalism. That thought is very unsettling for me and many others.

.......instead of wtbts?
i always called it wtbts for watchtower, bible, & tract society.
The Pennsylvania corporation (the most important and founding corporation) is known as the:
Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania
Whereas the New York corporation (used mainly for printing and publishing) is known as the:
Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York
So, depending on which acronym one uses, will suggest which corporation is being discussed. The Pennsylvania corporation will have an extra letter because the word "Watch Tower" is split into two words.

thank you quotes for bringing this up, i've never read such a bullsh** in my life.
those people up in writing dept.
Hi Cyborg,
Thanks for posting this link. It is a great find. I spit my coffee out as I started to read it. It is the most foolish idiotic article on the topic that I have ever read. Its stupidity resembles the lunacy of later Watchtower articles on topics of science, medicine and human behavior.

something i?ve wanted to ask you all for a while.
had you 100% denounced jw doctrine to yourself at the time of your leaving the org?
i know many have said that specific issues prompted them to leave i.e., wt membership in the un, silent lambs/child molestation policy, malawi political party card issues, inconsistent changes in doctrine i.e., 1975/1914 generation not passing?new light begets old light begets new light etc.
Hi Frog,
Changing from a JW into a normal person depends on a number of things. It has a lot to do with why we leave the religion, how long we were JWs, when we became JWs, our world view of God, and society in general. It also has to do with our individual personalities, emotions, guilt mechanisms, willingness to deal with the issue, and the impact on our relatives and friends.
I got involved with the JWs when I was 17, became a JW when I was 19, walked away thirteen years ago when I was 42 years old. I was finally disassociated ten years ago. At first I was very active in a local church, and in helping people leave the JW religion. Then, I got sick of it all, and didn't discuss religion, pray or read the Bible for three years.
Then, the Internet emerged and I soon found the H20 board, followed by E20, J20, Newlight, JWD, etc. To my surprise, I still had many issues to address, including the most important: Helping to identify and bring JW molesters and the Watchtower Society to justice. In the last year I have gradually slowed down posting ... and now I am so busy having a normal life, going back to college, etc. that I hardly think about JWs unless I am on this forum.
While it has been thirteen years since I left the religion, I don't think that I could have shortened the process much ... well, maybe somewhat shorter if I had been able to get on the Internet sooner. During these last years, I have learned a lot, but also had the satisfaction of helping others to leave and move forward sooner than they might otherwise.
One therapist told me that leaving the JWs is much like getting a divorce ... it takes about the same time to get over the previous marriage and move forward with one's life. He had in mind three to five years to work through the process. So, in my case, I used a few extra years ... but that is okay.

PS: I see that "Dogpatch" Randy Watters posted a great list of resources. I am the author of the article on http://www.freeminds.org/psych/exithelp.htm . Also, you may want to read my exit series, the Amazing story of Jay Walter: http://www.exjws.net/pioneers/partintro.htm
i'm just watching da vinci code programme on history channel.
... wondering what you guys make of it all.
does it make any sense or is it wt-like publisher's stunt....
The author of the Da Vinco Code made significant historical errors. I saw a good post on this a while back by Jim Pention, historian and author of Apocalpse Delayed. I will ask Jim Penton about his comments and repost them here. - Jim Whitney

i have been attempting to follow the money and have obtained not only the wtbts financial records for the uk but the ibsa financial records too.... if you would like a peek to see where your money has gone or is going pm your email address to me or post here.. as interesting as the wtbts financial records if not more, in my opinion...... db
Hi Diamond,
Once again, count me in. And thanks again for the last e-mail. I aso sent you a PM. The last set of records are very interesting, and I am sure the IBSA will be too. Here is my e-mail once again. [email protected]. - Jim W.
i remember talks at the "kingdom ministry" meeting.
and at times, you'd hear talks (in a past tense) about why so and so didn't make it in paradise.
and they'd say dumb things like "oh, he pinoeered, he gave good talks, but he didn't make it because he was a drinker.
Essentially, in Watchtower-ese, being a JW gives you a chance at the lottery of eternal life ... a chance that the rest of the world will never have ... but, a chance nontheless. Good luck! - Jim W.
further to another thread which got my interest i have obtained the watchtower & bible tract society of great britains 2003 accounts in a pdf file...if anyone wants a look...either pm me or post and il send you a copy via email.
the results are quite hair raising!?
