Dwight Eisenhower was raised a Bible Student, and left before Rutheford renamed them "Jehovah's Witnesses" in 1931. Also, there was a football player on the Oakland Raiders who left in the 1970s to become a JW. I think his last name was Sweeney. - Jim W.
i believe that most people are what they are----whether they were jws or are exes.
for example, if you were a basically happy go lucky person in the hall, you probably have that same nature now.
conversely, if you were accused of always complaining and being miserable then, you probably still bitch and moan now.

Essentially, I agree with your points. I do think that most do have some additional personality changes ... but these are in areas where they can now grow as never before. Has they never been JWs, they would have made such growth sooner. So, in some ways, leaving the JWs does cause some changes, but they seem to be mostly delayed growth that would make anyway. - Jim W.

Huh? Perhaps you mean classical Greek.
There is no equivalent noun in Greek for the English noun, Apostate. Apostasia, as it was written in the Greek translations of the Bible, is a verb. I have had some good discussions on this with various Greek experts, including university professors, who have stated that Apostasia is not a common verb, and is rarely found in secular writings. Its primary usage is found in the Bible. Therefore, the Mormon, Adventist, and Watchtower usage as a noun is a modern English twist, unique to these religions. If I am in error, then please cite specific references and example where there is a Greek equivalent for the English noun, Apostate. - Jim W.

The term apostasy (apostasia) is not a noun in Greek and carries no special meaning. It has a basic verb form to "stand away from" or "separate." It is closely linked to the Greek word Apostasion, which means to divorce.
The Watchtower spin it for their own controlling cult purposes.

i happen to work 8 floors up and i get a great view of the road and all the cars rushing around and it got me thinking about how from a distance people all look the same and things start to look a little ridiculous...anyhow.
then that got me thinking about how easy it would be for it all to fall apart (not like an end of the world scenario - but just a society thing.

I am known as Jim to most of my friends. My birth name, James, means 'one who supplants or takes the place of another.' So, when I became an anointed JW, I felt a slight justification in that I was one who replaced a unfaithful anointed person. Since my JW days, I like my name as it is, with no special significance. Any significance will be based on how I lived my life, and not on meanings from history of others. - Jim W.
I really love my duaghter's name, Jennifer Lynne Whitney. It is old english, meaning a "White Wave Cascading against a White Island."
when you were before a judicial commitee for whatever reason...did they try to get you to see the error of your ways and thus save you from destruction at the big a...or were they just happy to let you die.. .
i have a theory that goes like this...if you are sorry they think that you are not and df you...if you are not sorry they make an attempt to try and save you because its a kind of feather in their cap.. .
i was sorry...so sorry i thought i deserved to be df...and said that i expected to be..and they later told me i said i wanted to be df...which i didnt..(i was a mental and emotional wreck on the night of the jc although i tried to portray otherwise)....but even if i had, surely they had some responsibiity to try and 'readjust' me.. .
