Yes. I think religion has caused many wars in the past and splits people up into groups of what they believe as per their religion. I also know that religion does do a lot of good charitable work to help others. But that could be accomplished without religious organization as many groups who are not religious care about and help other people in need. We will never be rid of the snare of different religions as many people have the need to belong to an organized religion to know god and serve him. That is their choice in the free world. As long as you have people forming these religious groups, there will always be greed, oppression, status and intolerance for others . There are always going to be people who enjoy the power, status , the monetary gain from organized religion. God never said in the bible to organize yourselves into a religious organization to worship him. He only asked that you love others as you love yourself and treat others as you would be treated. I personally don't believe in a supreme being and have no need to believe that way. My life is much more fulfilling now that I am free of the need to worry about pleasing a god that is fashioned by how people perceive him to be.

Ignorant Dub Friend Just Don't Get It
by GetBusyLiving inman i spent two and a half hours chatting with a dub friend of mine about how messed up the wtbts is.
i explained to him that i'm agnostic too.
it was soo frustrating, he just couldn't get it.

I think too, that for some raised as a dub and the beliefs are so drummed into your brain , its almost scary to think differently or even let an idea that differs from the dub train of thought to enter your head. I know , even as a dub, when I was starting to doubt, you have this fear that Jehovah will abandon you.. and what if the new system really comes and you aren't there???? I think to really explore their doubts, JWS have to be ready to accept thoughts other than what the society allows. For some,, its a slow and difficult process. Some will never be able to break away from the WTBS's hold on them. I see the sisters I grew up with still out in field service. Its easier than facing the truth about the truth for some.

Thanks for sharing your story, Brooke. You had to grow thru many hard times but the hard times make you stronger and give you character so you can face what else life throws at you. I can tell you have become a strong and caring person because of your life experiences. You have a loving husband and beautiful children. It shows that everyone can make a happy life even if their childhod wasn't the best...

Hi moses, congrats on your escape. Although I am sure that there will always be believers in the org. Especially some of the older ones , It is might be harder for them to really accept they have wasted their whole lives this way..........

Does being a JW make a person physically sick?
by Gill indefinitely mentally and more than likely physically.. i have read on a few posts and freeminds about an increase of mental illness amoungst jws of between 2 and 40 % and it seems understandable considering the amount of stress being in the borg puts on people.. but what about physically?.
what are your experiences since leaving the borg?.
do you feel well and fitter than ever before?.

I used to become physically ill when I had to give a talk in the Ministry school.Eventually the elder in charge took me off the talk list as I was always ill when i had to give talks.

watching your children grow up to be accomplished adults and achieving their dreams (especially so when you gave up your dreams because you were told not to dream or aspire for your life by the witness organizationn)
