Well I know it is annoying and frustrating,, but lots of people have problems and crap going on in their lives and the first person in their line of vision at that time , gets the brunt of their frustration,,She was probably just venting on you..I see people like that in the grocery store.. driving their cars... its a stressful society.. don't give up on everyone because some are self-centred . Look at all the new posters here...we have to be getting thru to someone ..at some point..

People who read the WT are MEAN!
by kristyann ini am having kind of a bad day.
i know that i really should not complain... i know that i have things so much better than most people on this planet, and everyday that i wake up with my health and a roof over my head and something to eat, i am having a great day compared to most.
it makes me think... why do i even bother throwing them out?

Every time I drive by our local congregation, I can't help wishing it would go up in flames or some other fitting destruction,, when it is empty of course....but really,, vandalism doesn't accomplish anything.. it just makes the JWS believe more how they are "persecuted for their faith"

Actually, the most heinous is, "We'll just have to wait on Jehovah."
With those words, dubs dismiss all the personal dreams and aspirations of an individual, snuffing out creativity, fulfillment and the instinctive search for authentic self that humans have been engaged in since the dawn of time. At the same time, this phrase cancels out hope for the future, for a better condition in life, and worst of all, the need to act in your best interests and aspire to achieve personal satisfaction.
It is the worst possible thing one could say to a child or teenager and thoroughly dampens the spirit of persons of all ages. It is a matter of control and co-dependence, and is the WTS' most vicious, evil tool.
Yep.. its true.. they're dream squashers..and they suck the life out of you if let them..

Watchtower Prophesy Guide: Armagedon by 2000AD
by unclebruce in"year 2000" and "20th century" quotations .
from the watchtower societys cd-rom.
following are watchtower bible & tract society predictions of armageddon in the 20th century as found through a word search of the wtss cd-rom.. the society also quoted many secular sources that emphasized crisis in the 20th century.. such secular crisis-quotes would have reinforced in jw minds the prophecies of the world ending in the 20th century.. the following is a list of such secular quotes plus a few more of the wtss own comments.

Well.. I know my in-laws are leaving the society 100 thousand dollars off the top in their will before any family gets any money. And an aunt who owns beachfront property with apartments she rents out in Jamaica is leaving it all to the society , as she never married or had kids but spent her life pioneering. She also worked as a nurse in a resort there, so she was a smart pioneer,,, not penniless... Too bad for my father-in-law though,, when he died he was serving as a elder and couldn't wait to see the great tribulation and God's destruction of this wicked system of things... Guess now he knows if there is life after death,, or if when you're dead.. you're dead..

Death at Armageddon
by lime05 in.
what will happen at armageddon when non-jw's and jehovahs witnesses live in the same house.
how will jehovah make sure that the fireballs hit the non-jw's but the jehovahs witnesses remain unharmed.

That is what we were taught to believe in our congregation- that God would give the GB some special instructions and all faithful DUBS would be led to a safe place to live thru Armaggedon, and then they would come out into a cleansed earth . The part that was so cold and heartless is that DUBS would have to clean up all the dead bodies lying around.,,, after the birds picked their bones clean of course.. How can normal thinking people actually believe that?? I always thought it sounded very wrong even when I still a believing DUB.

My story
by beachbugg init's really good to read stories of other people that have experienced some of the same things i have.
i haven't ever posted or even talked to another ex-jw except for my uncle who i have just recently started a relationship with.
the sad thing is that i am 30 years old and i am still struggling with the past....i'm soo sick of it.

Hi Beachbugg.. Thanks for sharing your story. You have lived thru lots of hard times growing up. but you were strong enough to pull your life together and not let the JWS take over your life. That is a great accomplishment in itself.

Anybody Irish?
by love2Bworldly inhello, have not posted in quite some time.
i put up some st. patrick's decorations at work, including one of those demonized little leprechauns, and enjoyed the look of a jw i work with when she came into the office this morning.
you know the look of pretending they didn't notice those evil holiday decorations?

MY father was born in Ireland to parents who had always lived in Ireland..He moved to England later and married my mother. So I would say I am half Irish- half British,, but born and raised in Canada.

What's Your Typical Sunday Like Since Not Going To Meetings?
by minimus ini usually sleep late, lounge, go out for breakfast....when it's warmer weather, i'm up early, exercising and enjoying *life*.

We usually get up about 8 am to watch Cornation Street( a british soap that's also very popular in Canada , we have a big sunday breakfast and then take the dog out for a hike in the afternoon. Definately better than yawning thru a meeting and watchtower blather..
