Isn't it a great feeling when the heavy mental load of the WTS is lifted off?

WOULD YOU BE AN ACTIVE WITNESS IF????
by minimus inwould you be an active witness or even an inactive one if you could change a few things?
for example: let's say the blood issue could be resolved, would you stay?
or if 1914 doctrine was dissolved or the disfellowshipping/ shunning view changed?

No. Never. I have developed an allergy to any activity that requires any sort of meeting attendance at all. And that's nothing compared to the allergy I've developed for religion. ;)

My first post!
by Crafty Lady ini've been reading a while and decided to join in.
my jw experience: my mom got hooked during a vulnerable period (marriage split up).
we went to a couple of congregations in queens, ny, and then moved to the finger lakes area of upstate ny.

HEARSAY....RUMOR...FABLE...LIES....or..INERRANT WORD OF GOD???
by Terry ini was almost 50 years old before i really knew anything factual about how the bible came into existence!.
it is astounding.. i was reading it since i was a child never with a doubt in my head.
i was told by people i trusted (who had no reason to lie) that i could be confident the bible was the word of god almighty.. and, it was as simple as that!.

Excellent points, Terry. I remember when I was a new JW and read about the history of the Bible. I felt very disturbed and uneasy inside about it all, but I was able to silence the little voice of alarm. It did resurface years later though.

Remember how great the get-togethers were in the 1980's??
by PaNiCAtTaCk ini remembers skating parties at least once a month, volleyball at the park, get-togethers where everyone would play bible charades and sing kingdoms songs, going to the river to swim with the whole congregation after the sunday meeting, spending the afternoon at the lake eating watermelon and water skiing.
it was a great upbringing!
also, i dont want to leave out the strong feelings of eliteness that i had even as a child, of having the truth.

In the early 80's our congregation would rent a hall at least once a year. It was in the country with lots of room for baseball, soccer, frisbee, horshoes, etc. That was for the afternoon, then there was a potluck dinner inside with live music and dancing in the evening. It was alot of fun. Individual JWs who had the room hosted barbeques and parties also.
Towards the end of the 80's the WTS started clamping down and "discouraging" large gatherings. They worked very hard to strip the JWs of all personality. Control, control, control. They wound up with a dead, lifeless bunch of congregations.
