i'm new here, so please forgive me if i'm getting this all wrong.. i read on one of the web pages that the society has written "we should pray for the death of apostates".
i think this was a 2000 watchtower, but to be honest i was so shocked at reading it that i forgot to make a note.. .
can anybody enlighten me please??
Hi tsarina, welcome to the board.

i was just wondering if there is a verse in the bible that points out what jwd is doing as far as exposing the watchtower false prophet?
This could be fun! How about Joel 3:9-11"Proclaim this, you people, among the nations, Sanctify war! Arouse the powerful men! Let them draw near! Let them come up, all the men of war! Beat your plowshare into swords and your pruning shears into lances. As for the weak one, let him say: "I am a powerful man." Lend your aid and come, all you nations round about and collect yourselves together.
To that place, O Jehovah, bring your powerful ones down. etc, etc, etc.

if you don't like this location, go ahead and move it.. i was raised as a jw.
around 14 i stopped believing, for the most part.
Hi Benjamin, welcome to the board.

i've been reading this forum for a while and i felt it was time to post my experience.
i am very comforted when i read others experiences and how similar they are to mine, i don't feel alone.. anyway, i learned the truth in 97, got baptized in 98. all of sudden i was getting prvileges, parts on the ca and dc and had friends that seemed to care about me and i cared for them.
eventually the love started to cool off, the meetings felt like watching reruns of a bland tv show.
Welcome to the board, Fading Away.
My non-JW parents were also very happy to have us back. And, my husband also threw away his martial arts stuff when he got baptised. The next round of disposals, 10 years later, was of WTS literature. It's nice to be free!

a couple months ago we had a garage sale.
we gathered old useless boxes of stuff from friends and family.
stuff they were wanting to just trash and we took it to sell.
Contact Replacements Ltd. I know a little bit about china. But I would suggest contacting Replacements Ltd., they'll do a pattern identification for you.
PM me if you need to know anything else. Personally, I'd find out what I had and what it was worth before taking it to a local dealer.

some of the kids my age in my hall are just an insult to my generation.
at the service meeting last week i was talking with one and we were near the front of the hall and there were a bunch of little kids running and jumping around the stage.
she goes: "what a shame.
OK, I stand corrected. Information board. I haven't been inside a KH for 14 years and I am thankfully starting to forget the terminology. This fine Service Meeting part was shortly before we quit, around '90/91. If I remember correctly, it was a part out of the KM.
The only thing I was ever called into the back room by the elders for was to help them identify a plant substance. Someone turned in what they said was marijuana and for some reason the elders thought I might be able to help.

i'm on a diet and so far i've been hanging in there.
i have a minimal goal weight and a maximum goal weight.
if you are on a diet, what do you do to keep yourself motivated to staying on the diet.
Whenever I still feel hungry but know that I've had enough to eat, I think of a funny saying I read once.
"Happy are the hungry, for they are sticking to their diet."
For some reason it helps me.

I remember, just before we quit, there was a meeting part that admantly stated that the Kingdom Hall was holy. No "thank you" card, invitations or announcements could be put on the bulletin board without the elders' approval because it was holy. There was a big long list of things that couldn't be at the KH, not even outside. Also, it was inappropriate to put a drum beat behind the "Kingdom Melodies" because it was holy music.

does anyone remember when the picture of the married couple was changed in the live forever book?.
it was the chapter on marriage, and there was this one picture of a hottie basically posing in a provocative picture on the bed, hair askew, beckoning her husband to join her.
she was going to render her due.
A bit of a side note. The woman in the bathrobe who was then was not, they lifted her from a magazine ad. I used to have it, but I think I threw it out.

if i had i would have noticed what i do now.
for over 40 years, 1874-1914 and beyond the wts claimed that there was a time of trouble like the world had never seen before going on.
this was to be a terrible time leading up to armageddon in 1914. bible students used to write to russell and ask if his calculations were correct because they couldn't imagine the world going on much longer.
I just finished reading a book called, "The End of Days" by Erna Paris. She named the book that because all the religions were saying that things were so bad the end must be near. It was a book about the Spanish Inquisition.
