Was Rutherford a good lawyer? Or was he Bluffing?
by VM44 inwas rutherford a good lawyer?.
this is a question i have asked myself several times.. the facts are tha rutherford took a course in shorthand, and worked in a law office for a time, and then became a lawyer (passed the bar) by passing an oral examination given by a panel of lawyers.. does that qualify for an education in law?.
rutherford, as it is well know, filled in for the travelling circuit judge a few times, for a total of four days.. years later it was published that rutherford was a member of the "new york bar", but there is a question if that group even existed.. there is no record that i know of indicating rutherford ever won a case in court of law.. when ct russell sued the brooklyn daily eagle for libel over a cartoon of him that they published, another lawyer instead of rutherford was used (although rutherford was there and involved in the case, he just was no the lead lawyer).

Gary-
I am a 'preacher's kid', tho' never a JW.
ABSOLUTELY the best and most affirming action my father took was to make it unequivocally clear that he loved ME more than the perception of the crowd, or 'what people might think'.
NO grey area!
My Daddy loved me enough to CHOOSE ME and my growth as an individual over 'how i might reflect on him'. I LOVE him for it!
Take your children outa the 'fishbowl'-

Execution in United States Are You For It?
by jayhawk1 infrom the ap.... raleigh, n.c. - a man who killed his wife and father-in-law pinned his hopes on last-minute intervention from the governor or the courts as he awaited lethal injection early friday in the nation's 1,000th execution since capital punishment resumed in 1977. kenneth lee boyd, set to die at 2 a.m., spent the day receiving visitors, including two sons who watched him gun down their mother and grandfather in 1988. .
my questions are; are you for or against the death penalty?
what was your opinion of the death penalty as a jehovah's witness?.

Execution by the state was always contemplated, and mandated, in the Old Testament. This doesn't contradict the commandment re killing because the state had the right to create and apply consequences to those who chose to kill.
As one who regularly contemplates great evil in my chosen profession, i am in favor of the death penalty.
I do not, however, support the manner in which it is currently administered.

Plus, there may have been prior reports, and yours provides additional evidence of possible criminal activity and harm to a child.
Often, probable cause for a search is predicated on additional evidence lending weight to another report.
ESPECIALLY if the original report was anonymous.

Taken advantage of
by Nicole24 inhi....so here's my story....i was working at a local salon, and met an older guy ( i was 18) who seemed quite fun, and we soon became friends.
he was 45 and recently divorced, and he knew i needed extra money for college so i began to clean his house.
it quickly escalated into a much deeper relationship.

...what this does is puts them 'on notice', legally, that this guy has this sort of history.
i.e. it gives them a duty to protect, depending, again, upon the past behavior you report.
This is particularly important if his past behavior, reported by you, was predatory.

hmmmm...
I'm not sure from your post what exactly he did, but if any aspect of it was legally questionable or ethically shady, I'd write it up skillfully, largely devoid of emotion, and send it certified mail to the PO of the KH he currently attends, and copy it to the WTS in Brooklyn.
Keep your green card (from the cert'd mail), and keep the letter factual.
Otherwise 'they' can say the report was never made...
