okay i got back from the doctor yesterday, and in the past 11 months, without doing anything in particular for diet and exercise, i've lost 12 pounds.
12 pounds!
i've been overweight my whole life and being able to "live" while losing is huge.. i joined curves and will be doing that 3-4 times per week.
Thanks for the info...when I move to the US I'll look for the On Demand.
What is the difference between Hatha yoga and other kinds of yoga? This is the kind of thing that befuzzles me. Is it just the philosophy behind it, or the movements or ???

Thanks for the congrats and the Curves tips. I used to work out 5 days a week, many years ago, so I'm pretty in tune with how much my body can take, but I'll definitely keep an eye out for the repetitive strain injuries. I'm giving it a year and we'll see how it goes; Curves is really just to keep me motivated because I tend to fizzle fairly quick. I also plan to, when I move to the U.S., join the Y with my honey so we can exercise together, so I plan to give my routine a "rounding" out via that. And the yoga, if I can figure out up from down.
i am soooooooo damn sick of this crap weather here in southern ontario........i can't believe it: we've got snow and f*cking hail coming down!!!!!
!.....i guess i shouldn't complain.
this is an open request to anyone (and i mean anyone) who lives some place nice and warm where you don't have to worry about snow and hail in may or any other time of the year: will you marry me and get me the hell out of here???????
Is this the part where I tell you Vancouver is having record high temps? *runs away before you can catch me*
Seriously though, you really should move here if you can...it's like not being in Canada, while being in Canada.
I'm sorry you still have winter.

I joined Curves and will be doing that 3-4 times per week. I'm also removing sugar and processed foods from my diet, as much as I can. The other thing I want to try is yoga. I've never done anything like it, but want something that will allow for stretching and movement and relaxation. I have a yoga mat and an "all levels" yoga dvd to learn from...and would also like to research online/books. However, there are soooo many places/types/styles, I'm feeling very much out of my depth.
Can anyone point me to a resource, or be willing to share their experience? Much appreciated.
.
how did that make you feel?
could you believe how "invisible you were made to feel" after you did most of the work, and received no recognition or appreciation?
That's terrible codeblue. I'm sorry you were ignored and your efforts not appreciated.
I've been in similar situations, not with a husband but with roommates where we would both be having the party but I'd be doing the work and she'd be getting the thanks. It does make you not want to put forth the effort any more, in the face of such ingratitude.

I'm glad hubby is empathetic to you and your feelings.
well, my sil and best friend came to this site on my recommendation (jw).
i just wanted her to check it out without judgement as we have always been able to talk about everything.
she basically was disgusted, said it was full of crap and lies and would never look at it again.
One can only hope that she's still lurking and can see what damage she's causing. Because make no bones about it, she's the one who's not acting with love in this instance.
.....................i received an sms from mrs ozzie last night informing me that ozzie is having an extremely risky operation on wednesday morning, 8am australian time.
i can't give more details at this stage as to the procedure due to confidentiality but i can assure you it is going to be dangerous!
mrs ozzie said that it had to be done despite the risk.. so if all of us here could take a moment tomorrow and send positive thoughts.
I hope everything is okay and a speedy recovery ensues. My thoughts and positive energy are with you.

I am SO sorry for what you have had to go through, first at being estranged from her, to making the decision to go back for her, and now to this betrayal. I wish you peace of heart and mind and a healing grieving process.
Remember, she's the one who is missing out.
i have been getting headaches for the past year or so.
i have never had this problem in my life with bad headaches.
now it is not huge pain but a 5 out of 10. it is everyday and hits me at 2 pm.. my neck is stiff and it hurts.
Someone already mentioned food issues. I know women who get them from eating chocolate and from chicken, but they can't leave them alone. We are talking bad migraines too. Who does that on purpose?
Unfortunately, it's quite common to crave the foods to which you're allergic/sensitiveand the craving drive in the body is pretty strong. You have to be right on top of it at all times, and that can be wearing depending on what foods you're talking about. (PMS/hormonal cycles can be a brutal battleground.) I tested positive to pretty much everything they test for (except yeast). That's beef, chicken, pork, green beans, apples, oranges, bananas, dairy, corn, wheat...and more. You can see how completely avoiding all those foods is a little difficult (I've opted for watching the high-trigger ones and varying my diet enough that I'm not eating too much of any one thing repeatedly).
I've had headaches pretty much every day of my life, mostly due to being raised in a "5 pack a day smoking" household. Once out of that house, I was in a car accident and sustained a minor whiplash and had spasmic headaches. About 6 years ago it became apparent that the headaches I thought were sinus-related were actually migraines. I went from 6 days a week with migraines at their worst, to now, where I get them like clockwork cyclically.
If the headaches are sudden to your life and cyclical, the first thing you need to do is record everything...a doctor will want to know what you're eating, your environment, if anything's changed in it (i.e. at work they're using a new photocopier...different environmentals), your stress and stressors and what may have changed in your life. If you can, try to figure out how the rest of your body feels (i.e. are you feeling pain anywhere else, tight muscles, aches, noticeable differences in your heart beat or breathing and the like) before, during, and after.
I hope you find relief soon!
Edited: At the top of this page is a box that says "Headache Diary" and gives a .pdf for filling in. The idea is to fill it in when you get a headache and look for patterns. http://www.quailhaven.com/migraine.html
