.
a jw once told me apostates print their "own" version of the publications with "convincing" covers to "trick" people - apparently they used to stand outside a shop in sheffield and jws had almost taken literature from them.. has this got any truth to it at all?
i'd have thought most self-published apostate literature would be photocopied leaflets.. other than the brilliant photoshopped spoof covers people post of course!

S: Thank you so much for the possible solution
How did you know you had to be so specific with the directions? Did the condition of my home's desks give you that perception? Just wondering... I'm not that much of a handy woman but do have a small paperback here called: " A Woman's Guide to Home Repair" - circa 1973 - haven't yet referred to it but the cover reads::
" Here is the fixit book women have been waiting for - a sympathetic but noncondescending approach to home repairs addressed to women as intelligent people who simply lack instruction. Anyone who can bake a cake can fix a broken oven - and save on expensive repair bills. In combining practical instruction with delightful wit, this is the first home-repair guide for women - both single and married - that really works!"
...loved your way of putting things, 4JWY

Special K ~
Thank you - I will try that right now .....
P.S. I have a sensitivity to odors too, and it's not like any pheromone that's ever drawn me in.
edit to add: Google thinks I want to "fix a DISK that smells like shit" - and OMG on the rest of the selections
Good for a laugh!

Hey bem ~
did you say, "use the desk?" What makes you think I do that? The pile remains stationary until I get some boxes to put all around me labeled file, toss, urgent etc and sort it all. Feather won in a bike race held by the Warrior's Society! It signifies completion of what is called a "visionquest".
Cic ~ I also had always wanted a rolltop and got a good buy on this one used.
... but....
after I got it home I realized why I got it so cheap - there is an odor in every drawer that I can't figure out what it would be -
it smells like shit, seriously. (& literally)
Anyone here work with wood to advise what it could be?? It has never aired out for years now. I'd appreciate thoughts.
I am green with envy at all the beautiful desktops shared! ~ 4JWY
i know a bunch of jw's for over 30 years , and most of them aviod me , they hate getting twisted into a pretzel.
but some of them do talk with me .
and i allways ask them how are you doing?
Walter ~
thank you
Being "tired" is negative?? Another instance of telling you to shut down your honest feelings and don't express them. Appearances are everything and they wrote the book on negativity. My dad wrote the final chapter.

My JW dad took his life one year ago and I'm just having brought back to mind through this post one of the things he used to answer when a person who he knew really didn't give a crap, would ask, "how are you?" He said, " if I told you, you would go home sick."
The "how are you's" used to annoy him more than anything because he saw so many were just putting on a facade of "christian love" to an old guy and couldn't wait to keep moving through the crowd of robots.

you'll see it's silver shimmer.
you'll see it's craters, honey.
{{{ColdRedRain}}} ~ loved your poem and so happy you shared those moments with your dad. I know you will treasure them for a lifetime of warmth.

They say a messy desk is the sign of a creative mind, don't they?
These desks show 2 years worth of a new creativity and freedom for all
The 1975 Yearbook is a pretty interesting one to keep - all about Russell and Rutherford and the beginning days of the cult. I weeded through all my dad's pubs and wish now I would have saved them for an Atheist Bonfire I recently saw advertised!
