i had a text message from an ex last week, she wanted to meet to discuss some jw's she had met that were really nice people but wanted some advice.
so the other night i drove over to a town in the north west of england to meet her and a really bizarre story unfolded.
we shall call our heroine julie who has recently moved into a new house along with her two children who we shall call janet and john, both children are in their early teens, julie is mid 30's.
I'm with the rest of you on the window washing - my first thought was, geesh - what are they doing, mud slinging so they can come and clean the windows? I mean, homeowner's have a gardener that comes once a week, but WINDOW WASHERS?

The nearly constant pages for employees over the loudspeakers is completely distracti ng.
I have never gone in to Walmart and come out without my head spinning and being irritated as all get out. Several times I have gone looking for the manager and tried to convince him that they just have to provide some kind of training for their employees in the usage of the microphone! ( He must think I'm a JW.)
The majority do not speak, but SCREAM through the dang thing and the loudspeakers are always at full throttle too.
im 20 years and i had been "studying" for a year, convinced that the world was going to end and if i didn't do as i was told that i would go with it.
encuraged to leave my parents and live on my own so i could reach my "potential" as young, no comitments etc...pioneer ugggh... creepy.
discuraged from going to uni, whats the point i might well focus my energy on more "productive" things.

You've made a very wise decision in recognizing the need to get away from JWism. Bipolar or not - it's a very unhealthy environment.
You will enjoy your studies at the university much more and you have so much to look forward to in this life - not waiting for their dream to come true. Please take care and try to keep the stress level down, listen to your body, pay attention to meds dosages and you will do fine!

evidently, according to my mother, her friend has all sorts of perfume allergies and has been attending meetings in the ladies room with a door open so as to hear the vital spiritual information.
anyway, the elders told her she could no longer sit in the stall.
now she's depressed and doesn't know what to do.
I also had the problem with those wearing perfume, or even smelly hair products. Often I would have to change my seat during the meeting when I realized I was about to pass out. It got to be somewhat embarrassing especially when someone would arrive late and happen to sit nearby and stunk. It was so obvious that I was getting up because of them, sometimes with the whole family, and moving to another spot. Even worse was when the next place I chose was just as bad.
The announcements made about this problem never got through the fumes to those that needed to hear it.
It's a good reason to stay home.
one of the comments i have heard many times is what good manners i display.
i open doors, allow others to cut in line ahead of me, say please, thank you and may i all the time, stand for a lady and many other simple little and often goofy actions that seem to have been lost on the current generation.
in fact the thing that attracted my present girlfriend was her observation of my good manners.
Using good manners, I won't go with what I was going to say about Mulan's words, nor will I even put them in a quote box.
so i'm sitting here having coffee and i hear a very distinguishable sound out on my deck.
i looked out and this is what i saw.
i know they are around but i've never seen one come so close to the house before!

It just reminds me of the time my step dad took my moms pet cow and made meat out of it! After she scared the crap out of him with the shotgun, he slept on the couch for two months.

Now I believe most elders KNOW they're unqualified in such areas...(hopefully).
Minimus ~ if only it were so huh? In my experience I've never seen any admit it.
Just one example: When a qualified instructor on educating people regarding mental illness presented an elder and CO with materials on dealing with the mentally ill, the elder after looking over the material stated, "Well, to present the info to JW's, we'd have to change some of it" ??
my brother's wife gave birth this afternoon to a 5lb 7oz baby boy.
he was five weeks early (we knew he would be a preemie) and both mom and baby are well.
it's quite a relief really.
