I would say:
"You go first!"
well the c.o was visiting the congregation a few weeks ago and he made an interesting comment.. he said that years ago when the society said "jump" the brothers would respond "how high?.
now when the society says "jump" the brothers ask "why"?.
this tells me that the walls of this spiritual paradise are cracking and that many are not willing to put up with all the crap that jw's of the past did.. what do you think?
I would say:
"You go first!"
.
i'm the type that rathers not answer the door, when an elder will come over, to try to bring me back on the road of eternal life.
how about you, do you rather answer the door to them, or just avoid opening the door, when you know it's them?
We gladly answered the door the one and only time an elder appeared - on the day of the memorial to invite us two years ago.
Guess our ability to reason scared 'em off as there's been no contact since.
Who knows ? - maybe the guy's left the org himself by now due to our 'witness'.
Didn't so many while in the org, repress their true self long enough? Be courageous, firm, and bold - answer those doors! Share your new truth.
a few months ago i ordered some of the videos that i didn't own.
it is a strange video that follows the drama they had a few years ago at the circut assembly.
between the digital effects, strange makeup, odd dialog, and commentary by governing body member samuel herd, this might be one of the societys strangest videos ever.
We need to follow the leadership in the local congregation without question. It is hard on stressing the point that we need to respect the authority that Jehovah gives to imperfect men.
The suicide note read in part:
"I tried.
Hope for the best. I weakened."
Elsewhere & AK - yep.....or I shoulda stuck in the Dateline tape at least.

Hmmm......my 83 year old JW dad who was struggling with severe depression and was overwrought by the fact that my family and I had recently walked away from the WTS had borrowed a VCR from some one in the congregation just so he could watch that video. He had made a suggestion that I watch it too, but I declined. Anyway, he had just watched it days before he committed suicide.
It may have been the clincher for him, who knows.
After his death, I had to find out who he had borrowed the tape and VCR from and return it. When I did, they were less than enthused to have to have any contact with me, having no doubt judged me as the wolf among the sheep. They told me when they wouldn't be home and said to just leave it on the porch.
sorry how long this is but i found the meeting very exciting.
the short version is i said directly that i do not believe in the wts, feel being d/f is unfair on my jw family so asked them to just leave me alone.
it didn't work.
jwfacts:
For you, attending that meeting felt right. At least you spoke your mind in a way that some are afraid to.
I personally would not have attended any such meeting, showing them that they have no authority over me whatsoever. When an elder came a calling to our door, we told him forthrightly that we do not go by their rules anymore.
They've not attempted to make contact with us since. We are not df'd nor would we ever consider da'ing.

Thank you for the example of being courageous, firm, and bold!!
My prediction: You will be a mentor to many and save lives.
All the best to you,

just a brief observation.
the whole feng shui thing is really going mainstream.
everywhere everyone is trying to order their world using priciples of the ancient philosophy.
.......S I G H.............is there nothing that is not analyzed to the Nth degree by those guys? All I had wanted to do was put the head of my bed in the North for the benefits I was to derive. (Terry, it was a joke!)
Thanks for the copy Blondie.

I believe the AW article would have been around 2001 or 2002.
Something like,"Feng Shui, is it for Christians?"

Yes, of course it is demonic I can't refer you to the exact issue, but before my walk away a couple of years ago, there was an article on it and full condemnation was the theme.
when i was a kid, we used to spend every weekend at my grandparants house.
my grammy had a huge leather brown couch, on which we watched movies (i was either on the couch or hiding in her arms cuz the movie scared me sh*tless).
one day, we were watching a movie, which endscene has haunted my mind ever since.
Vivamus:
With your first descriptive words of the movie, I was anxious to see if anyone told you (1939) "Wuthering Heights". As a young teen, I too, was enthralled with that movie, and scene, as he held her dying in his arms, looking out together at the heather growing on the moors. Several times I tried to watch it without my parents coming around the t.v. as I felt the JW moral code couldn't withstand the subject matter.
I read that a 1992 version is supposed to be just as good. Happy viewing!
