  heroes and villains for the braindead.

  in a typical action movie, suspense movie or western, there are only heroes and villains.

  the heroes can do nothing but good and the villains can do nothing but bad.

  if the average wordly guy is a villain for just refusing to become a witless, then who are apostates in this movie scenario?

  According to Farkel's "Handy JW 'Apostate' Glossary,"

  "Apostate" - the most evil word in the JW lexicon. Worse than Satan, worse than demons. Say the word, and watch real TERROR well up in the eyes of a JW. (See "Internet")
  
  "Demons" - real SCARY beings. They just can't wait to "get in" to your body and mess you up. A group of bad, bad, spirit entities which somehow love to inhabit used clothing, furniture, lawn chairs, and mostly, apostates, to name a few. They are frequently seen lurking around garage sales, and antique shops.
  
  "Satan" - a token bad guy. Doesn't scare anyone, anymore. But "demons" do.
  
  "Jehovah" - scares JWS more than apostates, demons, and Satan put together. Scares JWs more than any Circuit Overseer ever could, for that matter, or even your typical Elder. Current residence is in, or near the Pleiades Star System.

  "Jehover" - the correct pronunciation of the Divine Name in Israel's Southern and poorer districts.
  
  "Satan Inspired" - to JWs: "them"
  
  "Internet" - hiding out place for demons and apostates.

  i?m sure most of you have seen some coverage about the murder/suicide by a member of the evangelical church called the living church of god.

  the church was founded in the mid-1990?s when it split from herbert w. armstrong?s worldwide church of god.

  the living church observes the sabbath on saturday along with other old testament rituals.

  I'm glad to see you counting time on JWD.

  I often wonder about some of the fringe JWs that might be disappointed with the Tower?s end-time carrot. It?s a wonder this hasn?t happened at one of the Kingdom Halls.

  The Matrix Online....

  anyone here planning on playing it?

  at first, for the first few days i played it...it was like every other mmorpg out there.

  a storyline that follows after the matrix movies is evolving...and its really good.

  Matrix 2 and 3 really sound like video games (actually the best video games ever!). It was all natural that the series would "continue" as a game.

  I borrowed the"Proclaimers" book from the library and read it totally

  when i left jw's in 1993 i remember that year because the "proclaimers"book came out in the same year and i never got a copy because i da'd myself.

  i was recently at the library and was shocked to see the proclaimers book on the shelf.

  i grabbed the book and checked it out and took it home and read it from cover to cover in 2 days.

  The Proclaimers book was a kind of "response" to the Ray Franz scandal in the early eighties and to the accompanying reactions in the years that followed (COC, ISOCF, etc). They made oblique mentions to some of their past embarrassments so they could say they were "rebutting" and "antecipating" objections made about the WT history.

  The Proclaimers book is the magnum opus of Watchtower sophistry. (or is it Jehovah's Witnesses in the Divine Purpose?)

  YESTERDAY'S WT STUDY

  oh lordy, at yesterday's botchtower study, paragraph 17 (i think) asked what we personally found "encouraging" about the 2004 stats that are listed by country in the wt.

  anyway, someone finally put up their hand and remarked about how wonderful it was to see that ethiopia had a 5% increase......ya, i guess if you're starving to death, who wouldn't want to hear that paradise is right around the corner.

  one bro put up his hand and actually mentioned the fact that there was 0% increase in virtually all the industrialized nations, but that we "shouldn't let that discourage us".

  of course you can't say no, and if you say, "nothing" the followup question is "why?

  most of us have experienced the frustration of trying to convince a friend or relative that the wts is not what it claims: an organisation backed by 'god'.. of course, it is very difficult to prove a negative and a real die-hard believer will explain-away any evidence of wrongdoing by the org.

  as they are trained to do so well.. i have found it good to reverse the question and ask them:.

  "what would the wts have to do to convince you that it wasn't god's organisation?".
