!
Same ol', same ol'!!
"Amos" is just an excuse for the Watchtower to say the same things over and over! Even Governing Body members find nauseating to sit through a study like that one!

Hi Country Girl!
"Well-Thought Out Process"? Hahahahahahahaha!!!
This topic is already being discussed at:

Something that caught my attention:
Today, the nations of the world, including those of Christendom, reflect the corrupt condition of ancient Israel. While some people prosper, many are ruined financially and damaged emotionally by the immoral practices of dishonest leaders of big business, politics, and false religion.
Thanks for the opportune information, Watchtower! Most JWD members can attest the veracity of the above words.

In the last few years, the WT has had three-part symposiums on one of the Minor Prophets in each District Convention, and the talks are published in WT mag in the following year. The "study" on the Prophets are merely an excuse for the Watchtower to advance their propaganda and scare tactics. Ask any Witness right after these studies what's the main idea in, say, the Bible book of Amos, and barely anyone of them will be able to sum it up in a straightforward manner.

Spot the contradiction:
"The reason we go door-to-door is because Jesus went door-to-door and he told us to do it," said Cathy Lou Pogainis, a church member at the Kingdom Hall in Glenwood.
and
Jehovah's Witnesses are not required to participate in door-to-door work but those who do learn how to talk to people about God's hope, Pogainis said.

PS: BTW, what are the Scriptures that say:
1. That Jesus went door-to-door?
2. That Jesus told people to go door-to-door?
i have the feb magazine with the new report in it.
if anyone is interested to know any of the figures then let me know and i will post it over the next half hour or so....

how did it just so happen that a world war took place in the very year that russell had attached so much importance to?
i realize that he expected 1914 to see the end of the world's governments, and of course that didn't happen, but it still seems to be quite remarkable that this war happened that very year ... a war that would later be construed to be the fulfillment of jesus' prediction in matthew 24:7.. the explanation given on the e-watchman site is that satan deliberately caused the war to happen so as to mislead jehovah's witnesses into thinking they had actually seen the fulfillment of bible prophecy, in order to make them think that jesus had returned invisably.. any ideas?.
The eschatological predictions in the 19/20th centuries need a proper historic contextualization.
Apocalypticism tends to rise in times of social/economic/political upheaval. In late nineteenth century, it was not hard to see that a great war would come up sooner or later; it wasn't a hard prediction to make, specially in view of the arms race in Europe. The great war was just a matter of time.
Even some political analysts themselves at the time tried to predict the year for the war outbreak. It's not difficult to understand, then, (1) that a great number of fiction novels were written in those years speculating about when and how the war would come and (2) that many religious people tried to pinpoint an year for the war/end-of-the-world in an outburst of date-setting prophetic speculation. There were so many date-setters in those years that eventually someone would get it right.
Ironically, Russel himself knew there would be a war coming up (he just needed to read the newspapers) and specifically stated that the future war had nothing to do with the end of the Gentile Times in 1914!

There were so many apocalyptic date-setting groups in America in late nineteen and early twentieth centuries that eventually one of them would have their predictions "quasi-fulfilled" in some year.

Feel welcome, max! There's a lot of good information here; hang around and read a lot - you'll find out many things about the Witnesses that the Watchtower knows about but would never be sincere enough to tell you.
