  BBQ with a Dozen Old ex-JW Friends last Saturday - Good Times!

  last saturday an old jw friend was visiting the area from florida.

  we had reconnected with another friend from the old congregation - a man raised a jw but who had to deal with being gay and all that entails for a witness!

  at any rate, we had a terrific bbq with a dozen ex-jws who used to be in one congregation together, but now live all over the country.

  I was given a thank you just recently for my time in the service in the late 60s early 70s - I was shocked because that had never happened before. It came from a woman who appeared to be my age, and I'm sure she was aware of the common disrespect that was heaped on a lot of us back then.

  Sorry Shelby, but jewelry has 3 vowels, and each vowel is accounted for within a separate syllable: jew*el*ry , with the accent on the first syllable.

  i asked her who told her that as i knew the school would not have covered that subject , she replied " nobody told me , i just know it "!

  i have heard that children have a better memory of that kind of thing but i was still amazed !.

  JW's week after week trying to convert me

  this is my first post.

  i have been a protestant christian my entire life, but over the past few months ive been conversing with two jehovahs witnesses on a weekly basis.

  as they quickly learned that i was biblically versed, they replaced what i would call a trainee, with someone i believe to be an elder.

  Even with my extensive schooling, they have thrown out some interesting points, and insist that they’re not trying to convert me, but show me what God truly says.

  A bald faced lie if ever there was one. What's their point in going door to door if not to recruit new members? That's the only way, aside from born-in members, to increase their membership. If you said, "Ok, I agree with what you claim God truly says, but I want no part of your religion," what do you suppose their reaction would be?
