I dont know about you guys, but I wouldn't go out of my way to preach after all the attention about the Candace conti court case. I would avoid even wearing the come look at me I'm a pedeophile supporter badge.
That was my first thought.
i was on a date tonight, eating in a cuban restaurant owned by jws (they have never met me, incidentally, the food was really good) when i realized that there was not just one, but two conventions in town.
one was the standard english speaking district convention folks, the other was the asl folks using the assembly hall in town for their district convention.. my date, who knows all about my jw past, tries to strike up a conversation with some of them sitting at the bar, asks them what they are in town for, etc.
they just said "for a convention".

Getting their undies in a bind over wearing a beard should tell you a lot. Keep your beard and your life and find a different path.
My favorite hatha yoga pose is the corpse pose. Maybe that's what freaks them out.
your wife starts wearing long pajamas and a robe to bed.......and sleeping under a different set of covers?.
Uh...YEAH! Unless, of course, she has something like malaria.

just plain old corporate denial.
let the games begin.. .
I just watched the JR Brown video - too bad they don't back up their words with action. It seems those words are for the non JW population only. What's that called? Oh yeah, hypocrisy.
now, we realize things are tough right now for you guys, but...you are telling the world how unfair the recent damages awarded against you are because he was not in a position of responsability "this is the first time that an organization was found responsible for the alleged misdeeds of a member who held no position of leadership or authority''.
11 the second question asks the candidate, first of all, if he understands that his baptism serves to identify him as one of jehovahs witnesses.
after undergoing immersion, he becomes an ordained minister who bears jehovahs name.
They are experts at twisting the Bible to mean what they want and now we'll watch how they twist their own words to do the same thing.
i've uploaded a video that discusses the dramatic jury verdict regarding the abuse suffered by candace conti, of which you are all aware.
if you're not yet familiar with the story for any reason, please check out my blog article on the link below.... http://jwsurvey.org/general-information/the-watchtower-punished-society-loses-legal-battle-over-child-abuse-case.
john hoyle suggested i get a youtube video out fairly quickly so that we can spread the message more effectively online.
Yeah, nice job.
http://www.jw-media.org/usa/20120620.htm.
they posted on their media page the story and that they are appealing.
they are sounding all vicitimized.
They used the word "alledged" abuse, which implies that abuse has not been proven or admitted. I thought the abuse was admitted to. Seems to me they are not being forthright in their reporting.
as a kid, my brilliant pioneering mother told me that if i stopped thinking, satan and his demons could enter my mind.
am i the only one that was told this useless drivel?
is there a watchtower article that sort of backs this up?.
As someone who recently began to practice zazen (zen meditation),
Good for you!
the only side effect is feeling calmer and more relaxed.
That's right.
Satan hasn't showed up yet.
And he won't.

Yes, total bunk. What's ironic is that spending time in thought free awareness is very liberating because it's from there that one perceives their essential nature. Abiding in one's essential nature in a conscious way is what makes one a buddha (an "awakened one"). As a buddha you are naturally resistant to the influences of outside forces, ie "Satan". This "awakened" state is the antithesis of what Awake! rag magazine is all about.
PS: I believe it is impossible to stop thinking completely, even in deepst meditation. Unless you're dead.
So, does your belief make it true? No. I spend much time each day in the thought free state, so I know what I am talking about.
