My first kiss was at my junior class beer party. With a bit of alcohol coursing through me all inhibitions didn't stand a chance as I brazenly approached the hottest girl in class and asked to kiss her. Equally uninhibited she obliged - Bliss! And by the way, at 53 she is still the hottest female I know.
Unfortunately, I spent most of the night making out with one of the "plainer" girls in class, but at least the barrier had been broken.

Another one of my art pieces (read the warning)
by seven006 inin my last thread where i posted a link to some of my recent art, in the last post in that thread, i said i would post a piece of art i have wanted to do for many years.
this next piece may upset a few of my christian friends, for that, i ask that you please do not click on the link.
i have learned to separate people as the person they are, and not as the religious belief system they have settled on.

Stunning! It's amazing nobody (to my knowledge anyway) has come up with this basic idea of a woman cucified. Very thought provoking - thanks for sharing this.

I would first advise people to discover who this "I" is who would entertain thoughts about god.

While working as a substitute teacher a 4th grade girl asked if she could pass out some literature to her classmates. When I saw it was religious in nature I told her no. Seeing that it came from WTBS it got me wondering what would compel someone so young to do such a thing, so I searched the net and almost immediately came to this site.

"What I was really talking about was the ability to analyse thought patterns. God forbid we leave a high control group to find ourselves forming similar dangerous thought patterns for some other cause, whatever that may be. And some people may not know they are doing it."
You are wise to see this and to consider the possibility that even those that are outside high control groups are subject to being misled. Most everyone doesn't see what is actually out there, but only a distortion of what's there due to the influence of thought. The mind is great for certain things but when it comes to realizing truth it fails miserably. But like in the movie The Matrix most everyone is soundly asleep because of a lifetime of taking the blue pill.
There are no thought patterns that make the world 'right' - there is just the world, and all of our ideas of what that world is has nothing to do with its reality. Sounds to me like you are on the verge of waking up - by taking the red pill you will see the world without the distorting influence of thought, and then you will find true freedom.
Such a radical break from the norm is rare, however, because to relinquish the illusion of control of the mind is threatening to one's identity. "If I drop my opinions, beliefs, and thoughts then who am I?", goes their thinking. People for the most part are all too willing to accept what others say because it relieves them of the burden of investigating for themselves who they REALLY are and therefore what the world really is. -

Walk with Gawd District Convention - Video!
by Elsewhere infor those of you who are inclined toward sadomasochism, you might enjoy watching a very very very long video about this year?s district convention.
it is video of the setup, the baptism (more victims), the infamous drama with the demonized kid and many short interviews with jws at the convention.. one interview that stood out to me was of a teen who commented on how "nice" the small district convention is... she totally failed to connect the dots that the convention is small due to falling attendance and budget cuts.. something that stood out to me was the glaring absence of any talks.
maybe they know that the general public would find what is said to be very "cult like".. .

This was the first time I've actually seen something like this, having never been a jw. Everyone came off as quite robotic yet starry-eyed. It reminded me of those people from California a few years back who couldn't wait for the UFO to emerge from behind Hale Bopp comet so they decided quicken the meeting by performing a communal check-out.

"Undaunted Courage" by Stephen Ambrose - about the Lewis and Clark expedition
"Scurvy" by Stephen R. Bown - a absolutely fascinating story which traces how the cure for scurvy was found, lost, then found again - no kidding, it's great!

I see you have Jane Austen on your list. Do yourself a favor and watch the A&E/BBC production on DVD too - a masterpiece of adapting Austen to the screen. I've watched it many times (and I'm a guy) and each time I get swept up in the story. Movie versions of "Persuasion" and "Sense and Sensibility" are also very good. -
