  not sure about Burns -- is he a director or producer?

  Both. He does amazing work.

  I know he does films on sports, but sorry, other than the titles (Baseball, eg.) I know nothing. :(

  Another question for those who attended the "Mentally Diseased" Watchtower

  nugget and i are helping amelia prepare for her statement to the police tomorrow.

  one of the possible objections is that the term "mentally diseased" is metaphorical.. when people answered on this paragraph did they say "people who leave are metally diseased" or did they say "they are like mentally diseased" people?.

  if they said the former it would indicate that they did not take it metaphorically..

  Even if it were metaphorical they still treat people as if it were a literal statement, and they shouldn't be allowed to get away with that. They can claim it's metaphorical knowing that the rank and file will follow through as though it's literal, and that's despicable.

  one of the things that most bothered me about the bible, is the narcasist, lunatic jehovah who orders killings of women, children, starts wars, etc....and the advent of peaceful jesus.

  some people say that jehovah was a killer to protect "his" people, but couldn't a perfect, all-knowing god have found a way better then to walk on the earth and tell abraham to kill his first born son?.

  on my spiritual journey, i now see how the earlier gods (roman, greek, pagan) are intertwined into the old testament.

  A Course in Miracles

  i've just started reading a course in miracles and wondered if any one here has any thoughts or any contact with this book?

  as an ex-jw i find it hard to accept reading any other religious publication but i find the idea of the ego's attempt at separation as the real issue against the idea of original sin a fascinating concept.

  also the book was channeled!

  It's too wordy and formulaic for me, although it works for some people. So, if it "speaks" to you go for it, but if you want something simple and basic read Eckhart Tolle's Power of Now. It's not a religious teaching even though fundamentalist Christians say otherwise. They are a pretty paranoid group.

  one of my all-time favorite actors.

  i was surprised that he was 88 - he's always seemed to exude such youthfulness, that i would have guessed him younger.

  I saw PT 109 when it first came out and I was just a kid - I loved it, and Cliff Robertson instantly became one of my favorite actors. Sorry to hear of his death. Thanks, sizemik, for those tidbits about him and the events of 911.
