I do not have access to the site. If you don't mind the 8 dollars I'm sure it would yield a lot of other interesting news items for us all. In return I can email you some other news items that I and some other friends do already have. I'll come back to look at this string to see what you may come up with, and thanks in advance for any help you (or others) can give.

This prompts many questions such as which "Times..." is the Watchtower's spokesperson enraged at?

They found out we celebrated Christmas
by Mulan ini was told today that an elder in a nearby congregation has just told another elder in his congregation that he saw we celebrated christmas last year.
seems he was doing a job on our street (he's a window washer, like all good jw elders) and saw our decorations.. several things bother me about that.. 1. no one could have seen any of our decorations by driving by.
we had no lights outside.

Did you ever unscriptually end a trial? June 1st Watchtower
by truthseeker init almost seems like this non-study article takes a perverse pleasure in allowing witnesses to "keep their trials" instead of ending them.
how would you fare with a trial?
do you want trials?

In some congregations there are elders who put non-elders under a state of trial or tribulation as when they isolate, verbally abuse, push on them, thump them or put others up to thumping or, pushing or jostling them.
The Watchtower-promoted view is that those who are put under such deliberate trials are not to harm the elders as with fistcuffs or weapons.
Doubt this if you wish, but not all elders in all congregations are peaceful but employ such abuses as part of the "theocratic warfare" training.
This is used, for example, to punish those especially disobediant, for example those allowed to come back to the organization who once left it and who must now be tested extra thoroughly, persons who may be apostates or are such free-thinkers they might as well be, someone whom an elder believes has beaten upon him or another elder verbally, and the like.
Those congregations much into this often do not do the testing of the person while he or she is in their own kingdom hall but send a letter or orally recommend to the next congregation that the person moves to to do the testing or trying of the person. While at the original hall they may be very well or extra well treated.
Upon moving they are put under trial or testing. The person may, if lucky, be told something like "sometimes a person with a dental cavity needs a dentist. The dentist drills and the person hurts but in the long run there is a reward provided you stick with the dentist. At the time you may not appreciate the drilling, but in the long-run you receive something much better."
The tested person, according to what they will hear from the platform and magazines, must simply bear any verbal slights, isolation, physical actions and the like or peacefully do something such as not attend locally.
Talks may also, however, be given encouraging all hearers to stay at all hall even if put under trial by others including, of course, the testing elders.
The ultimate goal in such cult reasoning is to test persons, cause them to "grow" in the fullness of Christian maturity, produce good fruits of repentance (person lies on bed praying loudly to Jehovah asking Why, oh, why am I treated this way?), etc.
Elders in other groups including LDS and the like also do such "tried and proven" tactics. Although some readers here will say they never had it to happen to themselves or others they know, not even after being a JW (or LDS or whatever) for generations and around many JWs, others know what I am telling you here is factual. There are also elders (and their partners) who are pedophiles and wiretap their flock to hear what's being said, fearing word will get out.
Supposedly doing this is a fool-proof system for keeping out pedophiles, apostates etc, but when the elders doing it are themselves anti-God pedophiles or protecting murderers and the like, then the system is not only illegal but it is also not fool-proof - more like an ugly gaping hole.
Some readers may think only 1% of kingdom halls has such strange burning trials by fire going on but remember that there may be a pedophile is every fourth or so kingdom hall (most often, as news clippings prove, elders themselves), and then you realize there may easily be 25% or so of kingdom halls.
Brooklyn's Service Desk trains people to treat the mother organization as a real nation. In the Awake they teach to turn in fellow believers suspected of being anti-mother or Watchtower, even if they work in, for example, a doctor's or district attorney's office and come upon information showing the JW has done something the Watchtower Society is against although it is okay according to secular law "worldly authorities."
I have been so abused and have seen it done to others. Call me a liar if you wish but it is true.

I mentioned this to Bill Bowen who said to pass it on to you, Kim Norris, that in the late 1980s or so a news article said a Larry Kelley testified that while an elder he had heard a sister say her genetic brother had sexually molested her (incest) and that (in his own words) the WTS wanted this and like matters handled "in-house." Please use your powers of discovery to confirm this.

I have JW family members and was a devoted JW member but qauit after discovering the criminal hiding of child abusers and murderers by the elders. Most JW are like myself pretty decent but this is not the case for those still being elders and knowing breaking the law. Scholar, you are really mistaken. The bulk of today's elders, compared to 20 years or so okay, are corrupt, some vicious molestors, and they have wanabee pioneer sisters and ministerial servants who are just as culpable, preferring organizational status to saving the children. There are even now some good-hearted elders etc but those who are such and in leadership positions are leaving or being called names and disfellowshipped. This is not Christian, Scholar. Quit calling those who tell the truth on this issue, i.e. Alan F, names and face the facts.

Scholar, the Watchtower Society (WTS) has indeed said JWs must do what elders over them locally and up into Brooklyn headquarters say including breaking the law on confidentiality. The specific article saying to do so mentioned that if a JW sister discovered that a JW patient had had an abortion then she must report it to elders even if state law outlawed her doing so. Besides which elders are instructed to shield pedophiles and murderers and this is proved in Letters to the Elders from the WTS. If you find that hard to believe then believe it for you can see the proof in the WTS's own literature.

Where did they get their brainwashing tecniques?
by cyber-sista inwhat is really the most disturbing thing to me is that i really do feel that i was brainwashed in those 20 + years in the org--i mean seriously brainwashed.
i am not an idiot, but there were times that i look back on now where i was a radical jw, though this is not really my personality to be such.
i remember after assemblies (while greatly relieved it was over with aching back and all) i would feel different--sometimes i would start donating more money to the wt and at one point i seriously thought of puttingthe wt in my will.

Barb Grizutti Harrison (see online book on freeminds.org) said founder Russell's dad and his dad-in-law were Masons. Not all but some of the higher level Masons in particular use the techniques. Many Masons have done some good things (Shriners), but some are worthless. Many other cults such as LDS use such techniques. It's to be expected, and is why they are called cults, not so called just because some of their beliefs are unusual. It's the tactics, techniques, abuses.
