I just wanted to chime in to give you a huge hug and tell you to bide your time. Well that and I'd like to kick your parents on the teeth for their isolating, horrible, unhealthy, and narcissistic treatment of you. My wife's parents kept her from TV, school, the computer, friends, just about anything and everything. It's sickening to me, which is why I've read but not commented so far. You're a brave and lovely girl that deserves better.

Im sick of my life

recently my dad was made an elder so my family has been doing a lot more "theocratic" activities lately.
every morning i wake up and put on my itchy dress and stupid makeup and heels and then pretend that i love what i'm doing and that everybody is my friend when in reality i feel horrible and all the other teenage girls at my hall hate me for some reason.

How do you feel about the expression "The Truth"?
by stuckinarut2 init's amazing how the expression "the truth" has become such an ingrained term used by witnesses.. "we have 'the truth'".
"is he 'in the truth'?".
most here have found out so many facts about the organisation, and felt the effects of being "gut-punched" as we realised these facts.. so how do you feel about the expression "the truth" now?.

I'm with Punk ^^^^^.
It is indeed loaded language, used from early on to manipulate people. It instantly puts all other positions in life at a disadvantage, calls them all into question, while deflecting any inclination to question "The Truth". I know it had a powerful affect on me as a rather word literal kid.
I guess it did have an reverse affect later. I realized that it wasn't some beacon of absolute truth and then every outright lie that I came across stung even more. At a point that loaded language can backfire if one is honest and open minded with themselves.

'Worldly' man looking for a little more understanding...
by Verecocha insaw similar title in a google search so thought i'd read more and now simply have to share my experience if anything to hear that i'm not insane and it is that simple.. met and fell madly in love with a witness, and her with me.
what began as love at first sight turned into a 6 year relatiomship which simply ended very bluntly.
there were many painful twists and turns along the way, first from her inability to leave her husband, then my mistake in finding someone else as i simply couldn't take the pain of her coming and going with such simplicity, but in the end she got a divorce and suffered many consequences within 'the truth', and i sorted my issues which were many and admittedly dug with my own hands and stupidity in trying to protect a young girl who had done no wrong in this long affair.. eventually we found ourself on what i believed to be the home straight.

To me it sounds like the whole JW thing is just a scapegoat for the bad decision after bad decision made by you two along the way. If you left out the JW part altogether I could see how that probably went wrong. I'm all for blaming the religion where it deserves it, and I don't believe you can divorce anyone from their upbringing in such a controlling and indoctrinating cult, but dude, you guys had dysfunction spread all over this so it isn't surprising that it turned out badly for someone. -

the word translated "his own day" at job 1:4 is the same word translated "day of his birth" in job 3:1. .
seems deceptive, does it not, to change that translation.

@Juan. Hmmm....maybe I got the successive days idea from them. It's been a while. How about the tornado? If that was during such a feast the dubs would use it like all of the others. -

If I remember from previous research on the topic the days you're referring to seemed to be celebrated in succession, so unless they were each born one day apart it wouldn't make sense. Additionally, if memory serves it was during one of those times where the kids were all killed by a tornado, again even if they were birthdays not a ringing endorsement.
With that said, my wife and I kind of celebrated ours for the first time last year, and nothing happened. We did disassociate a couple weeks following my birthday though. Best gift ever.

but instead of retaliating, maria calmly continued on her way.

Oh yeah, as kids both my wife and I had parts on assemblies where we were helped to make our stories "more encouraging" by embellishing and exaggerating. I don't buy much of their stories. -

i think that i became a jehovahs witness because of my immaturity.
i had some quirky personality traits, and i joined finding that i fit in because, as i said to myself: these people get me.

Love this thread. You see it so much on here. Too bad those who show their dubness are often not as humble as you. Often they're too lost in their own hype to consider anyone else, just like the dubs. Beautiful experience, thanks for sharing.
