Hey Done, if you want to tell your story go to my site, shunnedpodcast.com, and fill out the contact form with some information. Heck, just copy and paste the above if you want. I'll add you to the list of people to contact. It sounds like you have some unique stories, and you touched on something there that I find very interesting, and that is how some people do horrible things and aren't shunned yet a person like you is.

The "shunned" podcast is now up and ready to go...
by dubstepped inalright, we're now itunes official, and the new podcast has been approved.
the first episode is my wife's story, and after that i'll be helping others to tell their stories as well.
my goal is to shed light on the real lives of the shunned, to tell the stories that these religions don't want you to hear.

My wife's story is the first episode that I announced here of "shunned". I will be lining up more interviews soon. I woke up to three emails from people that want to talk. I'm thinking there won't be a shortage of material. The bottleneck will be my time and energy.
@NY44M - I'd be happy to drink with you only I don't drink much other than water so I'm inexpensive to buy for, lol.

I wish my wife would have imitated her dad's sound effects with the comb, lol. Or his EXcuuuuuuuse ME when he'd burp or fart in the front row.
She certainly knew colorful people.

Thanks Funchback! My wife worked very hard on her story. I gave her the questions and she ran with it. I don't know how interviews will go in the future, but my goal is to draw out people's stories, how they felt, what happened, and to keep it more focused on them than just hating on whatever they came from. I want this to be something that anyone can listen to more in the lines of other storytelling podcasts about the realities of people's lives.

You're very welcome. I'm already getting others reaching out that want to tell their story. This should be very interesting.

Alright, we're now iTunes official, and the new podcast has been approved. The first episode is my wife's story, and after that I'll be helping others to tell their stories as well. My goal is to shed light on the real lives of the shunned, to tell the stories that these religions don't want you to hear. Obviously Jehovah's Witnesses are front and center, but my goal is to include other religions as well. Shunning is a cruel practice exercised by cowardly religions that are afraid of facing the truth in order to silence those that wake up. The real story lies in what leads to the shunning and life after.
At the end of each story I have the interviewee pick a song that meant something to them on their journey. I feel like music helps people to express things that they may not be able to in the moment. Due to copyright law I can't even play a clip legally in my podcast, so if you go to the website there will be a link to each one. I'll also include them in these announcements. My wife's chosen song is by Rise Against and is appropriately called "I Don't Want To Be Here Anymore".

"Prayer" and answers to it , positive / negative ,or is it all in the mind ?
by smiddy3 inspeaking from my own experience and that of my family of wife and two now adult sons do not believe that prayers to jehovah /god are answered .. so it must also be true of all other religions and their believers also.. my wife and i were jw`s for 33 years and and i don`t believe anyone prayed harder than my wife and i at various trials we faced during those times in those 33 years.. we may as well have been like the present day jews who pray to a brick wall .

To quote the old Cranberries song out of context, it's "in your heeaaad, in your heeeeeeeaaaaad". Add a dash of feeling powerless, some focus on the issue, belief in that there's a reason for everything because we can't face the facts of how random life truly is, and a heaping helping of cognitive bias, and voila!, your prayers have been answered. Remember, your prayers may not be answered in the way you think they will be, so keep looking real hard until you convince yourself that they have been somehow.
Funny, as a JW I did all the "right" things and was never blessed. I started doing healthier things, got better results, and credited god. Now I no longer believe in god and life is still good, because it was doing healthier things that made life better, not a sky fairy.

Just need to vent a little
by Phoebe inin the last week i have had three visits from brothers.

Here's another quote for you Phoebe, not sure who it came from but "we teach people how to treat us". That quote woke me up to the realities of how I contributed to some of the mistreatment that I allowed socially. You seem like a super sweet person. I encourage you to love yourself enough to not be a doormat for what are essentially bullies. Believe me, they are getting built up by putting you down. It's time to instill boundaries for yourself. Touching you is a power move, doing it and then putting you down is doubly so. They shouldn't be allowed to do either, or even be in your home.

What would be so hard about saying that such is a crime and therefore out of their jurisdiction and that it should be taken to the police? Such a seemingly simple fix for the whole thing but they're busy trying to weasel their way into some wording that somehow makes the handling of such sensitive matters by untrained simpletons okay.

F@$! Watchtower and you know who that will show up to defend them. Their files should be turned over and they should have to face the error of their ways. THAT is the true religion? The GB are "faithful and discreet", yeah right? Evil men in an evil corporation defended by more evil people.
