my daughter asked if anyone has heard anything about a 'big announcement' being made sometime this week in congregations in canada and possibly beyond... in her words "it's like a biggggg long thing, they cut out part of the book study for it and people heard it was a historical thing"... any ideas?

Dear brother/ sister Intercore,

You are correct in that you created this version only, but when planting a garden, do you take credit or give it to Jehovah? You didn't create the seeds, just like you didn't create the figurative "seed" of this song that you put out.

Additionally, what if your "karaoke" version were to get in the hands of apostates and they gave you credit? They might make new lyrics or make fun of the fact that songs like "just around the corner" are things that have been said for many generations now without coming true. It could bring reproach on your name, and Jehovah's as well.

It sounds like Satan is playing the instrument of your heart, dear brother. You should do some deep study, meditate, and hope that you can root out any of Satan's seeds that are planted in the garden of your heart.

Poor people are sub-human?

has anyone noticed how many jw's really seem to be rollin in it?

escpecially the elders, and they treat their subordinates like filthy gum on the bottom of their shoe?

just wondering because i too am poorer than poor and have spent a fourth of my life homeless already and i am 22.. another thing to consider is why domost of the population on this planet seem to hate the poor, even though we outnumber the middle class and the rich greatly?

I'll admit that I haven't read all pages here, but I grew up poor. I also think that some of those sub-human feelings are projection of your own feelings of being sub-human because you see others living a different life. I felt like others looked down on me, and some certainly did, but I felt that way about myself too as I observed others. Poor people have issues or habits that keep them there. They also do a good job of pulling people down if they try to do better. I'm not rich now by any means. Poor is a state of mind and of poor decisions. I clean houses and have a good life. You don't even have to possess a college degree.

Why do you need credit for songs that you didn't write? Are you trying to usurp Jehovah's headship or run ahead of his chariot? Watch out, you may be run over by it. You should be making a name for Jehovah, not for yourself. Shame on you brother. ;)

this is an official "fuck my life" thread.. being chased by the elders makes one arrive at the conclusion that there is nothing better than not being chased by the elders.

I'm not sure I get all the hate for the guy. He's obviously young, hurt, and confused.

Nobody loves you that fast, so you need to work on your definitions there. And how much alcohol was fueling this? It doesn't sound like the foundation of a real loving relationship.

I think that we grow up in the cult with messed up ideas of how relationships work, what love is, heck we don't even get to know ourselves so how can we know others. The only good thing I got out of the cult is my wife, but only because we had the right attitude toward our relationship and worked really hard at it. It hasn't always been good or healthy but we got there over time.

Take time. You don't have to rush anything. Read books and expand your perspectives on life and relationships.

come on a believer, everyone knows it was you so own up to it and teacher will not be cross!.

this is exactly what seems to be happening, a believer runs in drops the stink bomb and runs out again...only to pear around the door when he/she deems it safe to do so.

"Intelligent" Witnesses

after reading some experiences, i have found that this organization has had quite a big change in its operations within the last decade.

back when i was talking to the ocassional witnesses at a local hotspot i remember some of them having respectable intelligence.

what i want to know though is those who have been aquainted with who they felt were more educated and independent in thinking, how they handled the rapid changes.

Falling for a cult's tactics has nothing to do with intelligence. Some of us here are thought to be quite intelligent as well. Many of those here were very much IN the cult, myself included. I was all in.

I don't think that the massive changes led me out so much as they coincided with the natural progression that I was making internally that did.

What's Expected in Field Service?

do all potential converts have to take part in field service before baptism?

and do new members generally try to bring in their friends and family or do they generally keep their religion to themselves?

what do pioneers do if they're going door to door and chance on someone they know or work with in their personal lives?

are JWs still pushing bible study?

Yes. Let's face it though, they were always supposed to, and some just never progress past leaving magazines because it's easy. Most don't truly want to study with people. It's a lot of work and commitment.

Who pays for the magazines they distribute?

The people that leave them often pay for them. They are supposed to ask for donations, but that's uncomfortable, so many don't.

i just don't think the god of the bible is our actual god.

and i think the god of the bible is not very bright.. i was thinking about the flood the other day.

Great points. Why didn't Jehovah just use Noah's flood as Armageddon? You just killed off everyone on earth but the righteous, why not just get rid of Satan and his followers and start over? Why allow so many centuries of suffering thereafter? Really, what is left to prove?
