I have to ask, how did they know she didn't have one?
And yes, your policy idea sounds fair.
my wife was recently cornered by the elders about her blood card because she didn't have one.
so one elder witnessed her sign it and he signed it and one elder made himself her health care agent.. with the memorial coming up i am thinking of maybe having a life insurance policy drawn up, maybe in the amount of 300 or 400 dollars a month and i will ask these two dipshits if they would like to sign it.
it only seems fair they should be finicially responsible for my son since they made my wife sign a document endangering her safety.. what do you think?.
I have to ask, how did they know she didn't have one?
And yes, your policy idea sounds fair.
i've been thinking about this the past few days and curious what the honest consensus is here just for fun.. show of hands,.
is the governing body.... a: completely sincere.
they really do believe what they teach.. b: somewhat sincere.
I have always held that they're sincere, and probably super zealous, as it is those types that would devote their lives and rise up the ranks. To me they were probably more indoctrinated than anyone.
Then I see things like that last quote that was taken out of context and deliberately used a certain way in a WT, and it really makes me wonder if those that write or the gb themselves aren't playing some sort of messed up power game.
So I don't know. I guess I'd go with D. other, as my answer. My heart says totally sincere and delusional, but mu head says what about this or that where it seems like they are leading in a way that almost mocks their followers.
we were all told when we were in the watchtower that we should be grateful to be part of such a loving family.
we were told that just beyond the superficial glamour of the world was a quagmire of despair, emptiness and pain waiting to suck us in.
obviously, we took that part with a mountain of salt or we wouldn't be here today.
Yes, I've found my place. We have great friends that are caring, educated, and have similar interests. Honestly most were our cleaning clients, families that we worked with for years. They were in a higher class than we were. We were raised poor. But these people aren't rich either, just nice middle or maybe upper middle class people living lives bigger than themselves. They're thoughtful and philosophical, and they took interest in us.
Life has the meaning you give it.
hi everyone, i came on here a few weeks ago and told my story and you were so kind, caring and welcoming.
your messages of support moved me to tears.
i was so grateful.
I'm so sorry for your past and what you experienced. Just know that it wasn't your fault.
I know you feel like the elders just think you're crazy because of their cold reaction, and maybe it's the case with some, but there really isn't much they can do now, or really ever. Looking to them is wrong in the first place. Of course an abuser will deny, and what really are they to do at this point. They should be a comfort, but that's usually way out of their league.
You need professional counseling. You need to stop going to meetings just to avoid hassle. In fact, you may be able to spin this your way. You were abused and need to spend time getting real help. You are probably among the depressed, and they usually get a pass on meeting attendance. Maybe it's a way out.
As you can see, those people aren't real friends. You can find genuine people in the world that will be compassionate friends. Maybe a support group for victims of abuse would be a good place to heal and connect.
In the end, you can't heal while serving an abusive organization. You have to do something different if you want different results. Please get help if you aren't already. Take care of you. Leave those monsters behind.
please excuse me for long-winded ranting.
i know, as do most of us here that "love" is not something that the jdub's are known for except in their deluded, feeble minds.. i can handle their hypocrisy when it is directed at me, but when it is aimed at family who for decades have genuinely been the type of jw that the watchtower presents to the public, and when it is motivated by pure hate, then i get pissed!.
my mother was dunked in the 1940's and my father in the 1950's.
FedUp, my heart hurts just reading that. The lack of real love is what first woke me up. Of course, I had to start reading books on emotional abuse and narcissism to learn that what I knew my whole life was NOT real love. The "love" that JWs show is so abusive and just disgusting to me now.
Your parents didn't deserve any of that. They showed real love, or at least in instances they seemed to, by reaching out and doing things for others, helping them with real help, not a damn propaganda filled book. There are sincere people that know love that are stuck in that pathetic cult. It only makes it harder to watch. I'm so sorry.
... but, they fail to take note of one important detail.. i believe that if we are going to have any chance of reasoning with a jw about blood, this is the place we need to begin.. don't try to convince them that it was only a dietary law.
it wasn't, and they will never go along with it.. don't tell them that saving a life is more important than obeying a law, even a seemingly trivial one.
they take pride in obedience.
Like you said, this isn't a court of law, I can ask, but you don't have to answer. It sure says a lot though.
Good day Mr. Fishy. Enjoy your meeting Sunday.

Oh good grief, the deflecting and diving again. So you ascribe to the JW beliefs. You CHOOSE to give weight to their commentary despite other commentary to the contrary. You have every right to CHOOSE to ascribe to theirs, just own it like man instead of cowering like a little baby. You hold to the Jehovah's Witnesses beliefs. There you go, not too hard there was it?
Once we know that, we know that there is no since in addressing you. You are choosing to ignore commentary that casts aspersions on the one that you hold so dear..................for 13 long years.
Do you hold fast to the WT view of apostates and avoiding them at all costs, or just pick and choose their views based on importance to you personally, like choosing to defend their stance on blood or to defend their stance on protecting children from pedophiles while ignoring that one?

Everyone else shows their cards here fishy. You are the only one that keeps everything hidden. You've done it on other topics regarding blood where I asked you directly if you would take a transfusion and you refused to answer. You did it on another thread about relationships when asked about your relationship status. Now you do so here as well. You demand answers of everyone else but never put your own views out there. Are you hiding something?
So again I ask you, is the JW commentary the one that you choose to rest on?
Your question about why I agree with the views here is stupid. I agree because of the reasoning and scriptures presented and because I can think for myself and see the connections.
So again I ask you (two times in one post this time), is the JW commentary the one that you choose to rest on?

Fishy - You single out wt because you are sore...
This is your commentary? Source? Oh, that's right, I'm the source of my own post. I single out WT because:
1. You are defending a stance on blood that is directly reflective of the WT view.
2. You have defended WT in many other views on here.
3. Oh, I don't know, maybe look at the title of this site.
Sherlock would be proud of your skills of deduction.
As I stated previously, I agree with the views expressed in this thread by Cofty and others. Those views have been rehashed enough on here as you can't seem to grasp them. You are the lone dissenter.
So again I ask you, is the JW commentary the one that you choose to rest upon?

Fishy - You commentary is trash - but it is your opinion and you are entitled to it; you are no authority here.
How can you say this? Are you an authority?
Fishy - wt is an authority to jw and their commentary matters?
So then, is that the commentary that you choose to rest upon?
