Why don't you get so butthurt over factual lies that Jehovah's Witnesses tell in their propaganda, not just doctrine, but actual factual lies like omitting information through ellipses? Why only this? Do you hope that these victims of horrific things got less? At least the word "estimate" was used. Who cares if it's estimated high or low other than you?

JW's And Yoga
by pale.emperor inthis was partly discussed in this thread: https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/4853755331739648/these-common-jw-beliefs?page=2#!#5701815683252224 but i wanted to delve into the topic of yoga even further.. it seems watchtower have no clue what yoga actually is, or what it can achieve.
i myself dont practice yoga, but i do meditate and see the benefits of that.. here is an artical from watchtower 2002 with my commentary:.

I'm not going to read all of that idiocy, but they are so out of touch. JWs like to define things from yoga to evolution and paint it with their distorted brush. Then again, for the brain dead followers, the GB's definition of anything is truly all that matters.
My wife went to a yoga class on Suturdays for a while and loved it. It is a great workout, and there are so many varieties.

Disclaimer: I'm no expert in any of this, but I've listened to podcasts about such things by other people ;), and I don't care enough to battle with citations.
With that out of the way, from what I understand even genetic conditions like mental illness are often expressed due to environment.
I know that I'm likely on the ADHD spectrum and that I have a natural level of anxiety. I also know that as a JW those things were nearly crippling. I always had suicidal ideations as well. Since disassociating, no more ideations, not a one, my social anxiety is down to a dull roar and I've gone into lots of new situations, and I focus much better. I did things to work on all of that prior to disassociating, but it practically went away afterward.
BPD isn't actually something that is diagnosed in much of the population anyway, but I think that in general JWs do bring out mental illness in various ways.

The Ultimate Conversion
by Etude inone thing that surprised me shortly after joining this site was the number of individuals who, after experiencing the deception of being a jw and the hypocrisy of the “truth”, switched to being catholic or “born-again” evangelists.
it seemed to me like jumping from the hot pan into the fire.. i don’t want to piss anyone off for his or her choices.
i feel everyone is free to believe what they may.

Doubtfully Yours has to try to find justification for remaining in because she doesn't have what it takes to leave. She has to believe that it's for the best, the only problem is that it then makes her pick and choose examples to spin in the dubs favor by any means necessary, just like the cult that she's in does.

Wow, this got away from the original question. Yes, I do believe that the treatment of people under the spell of the JW society can absolutely influence one to develop something like a borderline personality disorder, or I believe today it is called something like "emotional dysregulation disorder". Let's face it, the cult both attracts people with various mental illnesses and creates it on the back end. BPD is just one of many.
I was listening to a podcast the other day and this guy that has struggled mightily in life was describing his horrible childhood and his mother who eventually "broke" and then, you guessed it, it came out that she was a JW. His dad would have the elders over to rip them about what they were putting in his wife's head. She was terrified of Armageddon and that her husband and son wouldn't be with her in paradise. She was eventually diagnosed as schizophrenic, and her life ended prematurely at her own hands as she couldn't bear the paranoia and delusions anymore, encouraged by JW teachings. So sad, and sadly not a one time occurrence.

Outraged After Watching The May 2017 Broadcast
by pale.emperor inok, so i've just put myself through another months broadcast so i can see what bull they're feeding my still in relatives.
all was going fine... well, i say fine, i mean the usual cheesy videos, rehearsed reactions from jeffrey jackson (you remember him, the one who told half truths and lies at the royal commission) and propaganda from jw land.. the last feature brings up 9/11 and the paris 2015 attack at the bataclan.
just as im thinking "how are they gonna spin this in their direction" i hear these words:.

I'm just thankful that the Borg are such awful people that they only care about their own. Imagine if they actually cared about people, if they used their resources to help people other than their own (if you love only those that are your brothers and sisters, of what advantage is it to you, to paraphrase), then they might convert more people. Thankfully they're such narcissists that they really only care about their own. That's it. So instead of doing good deeds and attracting people with love and empathy, they put off other people by being so absorbed in themselves.

Striking Out On My Own
by Saethydd inthose of you who know my story are aware that i'm currently disfellowshipped and living with my parents.
up until now, my plan has been to be reinstated and then fade, but recently my plans have changed.
in a conversation with my mother a few days ago and she made it clear that she would not be okay with me getting reinstated with the purpose of going inactive.

Classy letter man. Yoi and I know that most won't take it that way, but that's a reflection of their problems. Good for you for going out your way, on your terms, into the freedom that awaits. Welcome to freedom, there's no feeling like it!

Still has to get through the Senate, right? I'm no fan of it. It doubled my insurance rate and with a deductible that is really high for literally the worst policy offered.
