I've listened to 1.5 episodes so far today and they are kind of reminiscent of the Prodigal Boys without the immature jokes (that I liked at times). They're more serious but still funny. I like 'em, my audio uncles.
Maybe I will reach out to them. That would be fun. I should actually be trying to get on other shows anyway as a strategy for my own podcasts, but I haven't yet.

i remember years ago , i enjoyed the television show hee haw on sunday evenings.
i naively thought it was wholesome family entertainment.

the witnesses idea of ever lasting life, that you will come back to your most youthful state is such a bs answer..
I'm not saying that I would necessarily want to live forever, as I cannot know that. I certainly wouldn't want to if I had to be surrounded by JW nutters the whole time.
With that said it seems like when most of us think about it we think in terms of running out of things to do. We're human beings though, not human doings. Life isn't all about mastery of one thing or what's up next, there's tremendous joy to be had in just "being". Talking to people, connecting, enjoying the everyday things like the warmth of the sun or sound of the rain or just taking a walk through the woods and smelling the fresh air, all can be endlessly enjoyable.
I think I'm down with the possibility of everlasting life. It sounds good to me.
this is my first post on here so i apologize that it is like an essay!.
my husband and i are currently 'fading out' of the truth.
we stopped preaching in may 2016 and limited meeting attendance in january 2017 and stopped completely in june 2017. my main reason for this was my whole life i have been doing things to please others, even getting baptized to please my mum.
If you want to fade, you have to keep playing their game. We chose to disassociate, game over. It's a matter of choosing the consequences you can live with. We could live with shunning more than having people watch our every move and hiding our lives. We wanted to be authentic and free. It came with a price though and isn't a decision to take lightly. There's no easy way to leave a cult. That's part of what makes it a cult.

There are podcasts about just about anything.
jw's will never knock on your door and say, "hi, we are here to convert you".
speaking to a reporter recently a jw media rep at hq said " our main purpose going door to door is not to convert but to share bible truths with people".

It's called more cheese, less whiskers. The cat that wants to attract a mouse has to put more cheese out there, to distract the mouse from seeing the whiskers of the cat lying in wait.
Ultimately though, that's how humans work. Humans have to typically be persuaded to do anything, including things that are good for us. The direct approach rarely works in any capacity.
2 pioneers of the opposite sex.
the brother is in his mid-20s, sister is in her late 20s.
both are alone in car as the only 2 out in field service.
Our congregation was absolutely scarred by something that happened before we became dubs. Married elder, a very charismatic guy, was also a pioneer and worked out in service with a certain pioneer sister too much, and bow chicka wow wow. Both are dfed and henceforth brothers and sisters pretty much never went out in car groups together. As young people we brothers never even talked to the young sisters. We were practically segregated along gender lines. Stuff still happened at times, but they had that congregation locked down and everyone was even more suspicious of each other than in regular JW paranoia.
we all know that this cult will drive those trying to leave to desperate measures, and today by brother was very nearly one of those statistics.
he slashed his thigh with a kitchen knife and was bleeding out until he called the police.. i got a call on my way home from work from a police officer, coincidentally it was one of my old friends from school who's now a cop.
he told me my brother is in hospital after an attempted suicide and has lost some blood but will be ok. but i should get to the hospital as he's asking for me.
I'm so sorry. My heart breaks reading this, and at the same time I want to throttle your family members and those HLC guys. Fuck Jehovah's Witnesses, bunch of cruel and heartless bastards. Your brother deserves better. So do you.
