I thought it was a bit strange at the time but dismissed it, could it be the black ones are different from the green ones or am I now being overly suspious..
By "black ones" I assume you're not referring to the 1970 edition that has the dinosaur on the inside cover? I still have one of those, along with a green one.
Ohio, I like the way you think. But if I was to put on my cynical hat, I'd say that the deal is probably more like the reason Freon was banned. I thought it was an amazing co-incidence that all of the "evidence" about how bad Freon was for the environment came out at about the same time that DuPont's patent was expiring. And now we have a brand new refrigerant and a whole set of new appliances to use it. Is it likewise possible that the gooberning booty pushed the updated NWT's on the rank & file to keep the printing presses rolling?

Still prejudiced towards Halloween
by Snapdragon ini was just reading the thread on how to pick the proper pumpkin.
(thanks xandria) it got me thinking how i still have this recoil factor when it comes to halloween.
it was always "satan's holiday" that i still tell my friends that i probably won't participate in the festivities when i decide to have children.. what do you guys do about this issue?

Dan-O
Of course it's Satan's Holiday. That's what makes it so much fun to eat candy until you hurl.

Does it seem odd to anyone else a dude would write a song about a sixteen year old AND it becomes a hit record?
it seems to work for R Kelly.

What does the Society have against jeans?
by truthseeker inrarely will you find a picture of someone in the awake or watchtower wearing jeans.
even in there so-called paradise on earth illustrations, men can be doing dirty work in the farm, and be wearing slacks.. for example, in the november 15th wt entitled, "do you want to live forever?
", page 7 has another paradise illustration, which has to be one of the most socially-engineered pictures i have ever seen.. the caption, "love for god and neighbor will make living forever worthwhile".

There was a picture in a WT book a few years ago that showed a woman in a dress climbing a ladder to pick apples.
The conductor asked what we could see in the picture.
What was obviously missing was the group of adolescent boys standing under the ladder & peeking up the woman's dress.

How much should home owner's insurance cost in a mortgage?
by Elsewhere in.
on my "good faith" estimate that the mortgage company gave me several months ago they put $100 per month.
i have been calling around and i'm hearing things like $3250 a year ($271 a month).. did the mortgage company twist the numbers to help reel me in?

Our homeowners policy is less than $700 per year, including the riders for business liability and increased coverage for our computers & software. If someone quoted a $3000 annual premium for me, I'd be shopping around.
