Zagor, the comment earlier in this thread was dead-on accurate: the Dub leadership doesn't like college education because college students are encouraged to question and to think independently. And that was one of the things I was warned about 20+ years ago ... that college might 'turn me away from da troof'.

and i am attending college now at 40 yrs old working on my ba degree.
i was so happy a few years ago when my jw mom told me that the wt is slacking off on telling jw's teenagers that college is bad and it is ok to attend college and universities.

Kingdom Hall Spankings
by JH inmost meetings i went to, children were brought to the washrooms in the back to be disciplined.
often i could hear a child yell or cry due to the spanking given by the parent.
people in the hall would have that look on their face meaning that it was alright to discipline a child by spanking him.

I'd probably be re-instated (yeah, right!) after having been df'ed for some sort of moral issue (like banging an elder's wife).
Thank G Hoover I ain't playin' dat game anymore. It's tough to properly fold a WT & slip it in th screen door with one hand without losing your grip on brewski with the other hand. -

Ben didn't invent the lightbulb. He invented the lightning rod (and the bifocal lens and a lot of other stuff). The light bulb was developed by Thomas Edison (along with the phonograph).

Cat in Emergency Care - could use some support
by carefully faded ini'm really nervous and scared right now.
i just brought my boy kitty to the emergency care clinic with a blocked urinary tract.. i noticed something was wrong last night when i came home and his sister greeted me at the front door (he is always the first one to greet me).
i went into my bathroom and saw that one of them had pooped on the floor - something neither of them had ever done before.

Are you kidding? My "priviledges" were stripped away when I stopped shaving and had some fuzz on my chin in 1980 or 1981. And then when I moved away from home to go to college, most of the folks at the Kingdumb Hall stopped talking to me altogether. That was 1982. Within a few months, I said the hell with it all & quit going to meetings altogether. -

Hmmmm ... our daughter will be home tomorrow night. And after that? We have no real plans ... I do have a slab of ribs in the freezer and a bag of charcoal in the garage. I suppose that takes care of Saturday night. And then there's fireworks on Monday.
What to do on Sunday ... hmmmmmmmm ... could go to the meeting. Could play golf. Could stay home and drink.
I need to weigh my options.
