Though I'm not a commie, but rather a social democrat, my good friends at the RCP just launched this campaign. I'll be there. Why? Because I've had enough theocracy in my past, I don't want it in my future. Imagine a world-wide WTBTS! Ahhhhh! Hehe.

Thoughts? I'm curious what sort of impact that members of this board feel it will have. Productive? Counterproductive? Impotent?

    The World Can't Wait!
    Drive Out the Bush Regime!

    Mobilize for November 2, 2005

Your government, on the basis of outrageous lies, is waging a murderous
and utterly illegitimate war in Iraq, with other countries in their sights.

Your government is openly torturing people, and justifying it.

Your government puts people in jail on the merest suspicion, refusing
them lawyers, and either holding them indefinitely or deporting them in the
    dead of night.

Your government is moving each day closer to a theocracy, where a
narrow and hateful brand of Christian fundamentalism will rule.

Your government suppresses the science that doesn’t fit its religious,
political and economic agenda, forcing present and future generations
    to pay a terrible price.

Your government is moving to deny women here, and all over the world,
the right to birth control and abortion.

Your government enforces a culture of greed, bigotry, intolerance and
    ignorance.

People look at all this and think of Hitler – and they are right to do
so. The Bush regime is setting out to radically remake society very
quickly, in a fascist way, and for generations to come. We must act now; the
    future is in the balance.

Millions and millions are deeply disturbed and outraged by this. They
recognize the need for a vehicle to express this outrage, yet they
cannot find it; politics as usual cannot meet the enormity of the challenge,
    and people sense this.

There is not going to be some magical “pendulum swing.” People who
steal elections and believe they’re on a “mission from God” will not go
    without a fight.

There is not going to be some savior from the Democratic Party. This
whole idea of putting our hopes and energies into “leaders” who tell us to
seek common ground with fascists and religious fanatics is proving every day
to be a disaster, and actually serves to demobilize people.

But silence and paralysis are NOT acceptable. That which you will not
resist and mobilize to stop, you will learn – or be forced – to accept.
There is no escaping it: the whole disastrous course of this Bush
regime must be STOPPED. And we must take the responsibility to do it.

And there is a way. We are talking about something on a scale that
can really make a huge change in this country and in the world. We need
more than fighting Bush’s outrages one at a time, constantly losing ground
to the whole onslaught. We must, and can, aim to create a political situation
where the Bush regime’s program is repudiated, where Bush himself is
driven from office, and where the whole direction he has been taking society
is reversed. We, in our millions, must and can take responsibility to
    change the course of history.

To that end, on November 2, the first anniversary of Bush’s
“re-election”, we will take the first major step in this by organizing a truly massive
day of resistance all over this country. People everywhere will walk out
of school, they will take off work, they will come to the downtowns and
town squares and set out from there, going through the streets and calling
on many more to JOIN US. They will repudiate this criminal regime, making
a powerful statement: “NO! THIS REGIME DOES NOT REPRESENT US! AND WE
    WILL DRIVE IT OUT!”

November 2 must be a massive and public proclamation that WE REFUSE TO
BE RULED IN THIS WAY. November 2 must call out to the tens of millions
more who are now agonizing and disgusted. November 2 will be the beginning
    – a giant first step in forcing Bush to step down, and a powerful
announcement that we will not stop until he does so – and it will join with and give
support and heart to people all over the globe who so urgently need and
want this regime to be stopped.

This will not be easy. If we speak the truth, they will try to silence
us. If we act, they will to try to stop us. But we speak for the
majority, here and around the world, and as we get this going we are going to
reach out to the people who have been so badly fooled by Bush and we are NOT
    going to stop.

The point is this: history is full of examples where people who had
right on their side fought against tremendous odds and were victorious. And it
is also full of examples of people passively hoping to wait it out, only
to get swallowed up by a horror beyond what they ever imagined. The future is
unwritten. WHICH ONE WE GET IS UP TO US.

These next two months are crucial. The call you are reading has to get
out to millions right away – on the internet, passed out as flyers in
communities, published as ads in newspapers. DO NOT WAIT!! GET
    ORGANIZED!!

If you agree with this statement, add your name to it!!! And do more
than that: send it to friends, get them to sign it, organize a meeting, take
it to your church, your school, your union, your health club, your barber
shop, to concerts and libraries and family gatherings, everywhere you go.
Raise money, lots of money. Get people together, make plans to be there on
November 2, and to build for it. GET IN TOUCH WITH US AT OUR WEBSITE,

The world can’t wait! Drive out the Bush Regime! Mobilize for

What your boys don't understand is that radical islam is a pain to all the large govt blocks; russia, china, usa, and also to an extent europe, as well as to multinational corps. Thus all the big govts approve of bush's actions. They can tut tut publicly as a show to the public, but it's in their interests for bush wars to continue. He is doing the dirty work.

Maybe you should put together a Coalition of the Willing and invade America.

Impotent. Nothing's different now than last November when Bush was reelected, so why will there be enough outrage to "drive out the regime." There will never be a radical change in government, just extremely slow pendulum swings. If Kerry was in office today, there would be no noticeable difference in anyone's life.

Except for the far left, the Democrats have supported the "murderous" and "illegitimate" war in Iraq.

No rational person believes that the government is "openly torturing people, and justifying it." Every mild allegation of misconduct is brought ot light, debated, and addressed.

The government is moving closer to a theocracy? Bush was democratically elected. Twice. The elections were close, but you would have had professed Christians as President either way.

The government is trying to deny women all over the world the right to birth control and abortion??? I missed that one. Just can't crush the skull and suck out the brains of an 8 month old fetus.

If you get Bush to step down, then you get Cheney. You're just going to have to wait until '08.

    Satanus,

    I am skeptical of

Thus all the big govts approve of bush's actions. They can tut tut publicly as a show to the public, but it's in their interests for bush wars to continue.

That is a pretty sweeping statement. Also, I think the RCP would probably agree that in reality wars generated by the ruling class benefit the ruling class, so if that were true I wouldn't say that they disagree with it. And, of course, that depends on what you mean by "interest."

    Elsewhere,

    LOL

    Georgefoster,

There will never be a radical change in government, just extremely slow pendulum swings. ; If Kerry was in office today, there would be no noticeable difference in anyone's life.

The latest polls show an all time low support for the administration and and all time high demand for a timetable of ending the war. I agree that the regime will not be driven out by this movement. I think it's the statement, to express the level to which this sentiment exists in a very public way that is noticed internationally. You said there will never be a radical change in goverment. I'd need a little more context to respond to that. If you mean that apparent changes seem to produce more of the same, then I'd agree. I also agree that if Kerry were in office things would be very close to how they are now.

    Sith,

Crazy I may be. Enough crazy people have been and are in power in the world that I prefer to deal with questions of impact and consequence rather than attaching to judgement. I fail to see how my questions about someone elses ideas would make me a kook.

well, i'm not sure how productive it would be, but i would like to see it productive. perhaps i could drive down to montana or washington for nov 2 to support the day's events? i'll check out the web site to see what i could do. as far as i am concerned, there's no harm in expressing displeasure with Bush et.al., and activism does work. it's just slow and painful is all.

    good job Spook,

True. No doubt there are exceptions. But, generally, i think it's true.

that depends on what you mean by "interest."

The interests of govt are mostly the same: stability of the populace, and power. Russia has had it's share of problems w radical muslims. China too on it's northern borders, and inside. Many european countries have large muslim populations. They could become threats to stability. If bush's war succeeds in gutting islamist culture, islam will be pretty well discredited. That will go a long way in tranquilising european muslims. Ergo, european govts will be happy/are happy now. It will also pave the way, 'morally', for china and russia to use whatever force they see fit against islamics. Then there are the corps. As far as islamic countries like iran are anti outside of the country capitalist, they represent an obstacle to multinational corps who would like to be the ones making the profits instead of homegrown corps.

I have actually seen some democrats wanting to see Bush impeached and have war crimes brought against him . I suggest you visit info wars to get an interesting look at the latest conspiracies involving George Bush and friends . The people in government are all nuts as far as I'm concerned , it's like having charles manson in charge of foreign policy that and or leather face from texas chainsaw masacre . You take your pick, but be prepared, as we used to say in the boy scouts, for all hell to break loose on earth at anytime . I predicted since the Clinton administration that things will continually get worse and government will continue to steal our rights and freedoms in the name of security . Can't say I've been disappointed .....
