Around here, we ward off the effects of the dog days by consuming beer and playing golf. Thank goodness my brother is coming here tomorrow to help in this effort.

Did I miss the Screw your neighbor memo?
by Sparkplug inmaybe i am at the end of what seemed like the worlds longest day, but i swear it seemed like there was so much hocus pocus going on at work today that i thought i would go mad.
how is this for starters?.
the jw that sits near me just got back from her convention this weekend.

"Here we do it to each other's states."
Well, yeah ... but all myth has some root in fact. For example, we in Indiana know that the Maumee River flows east because Ohio sucks. -

WILL MY CHILDREN DIE ??
by dontnowat2believe ini was driving in my brothers car with him about 5 years ago (hes now an elder), we were in the middle of a row when he turned to me and told me that when i die at armageddon that i dont need to worry because he said he will look after my kids, this upset me to the point that i made him stop the car and i got out.
a friend of mine (who is a jw) i spoke to about it told me that he was just trying to be cruel and then went on to tell me that any children who are a part of a witness family would die at armageddon.
i would like to know if anyone knows if this true ?

"And how can they justify this, you cant make children responsible for thier perants actions."
Simple: it's a guilt tactic. I can't count the number of times my father or my uncle have said "When your children die at Armageddon, their blood will be on your hands. You should start coming to meetings again."
What a load of crap. -

Laser light show on Saturday night. Loaded up the smoker with spareribs yesterday. And went to watch the foreworks tonight. Other than than, I didn't accomplish much all weekend. It was time to cut loose & relax ... watched a little TV, tipped a few longnecks, and enjoyed life.

WHO WILL TAKE YOUR FUNERAL
by tijkmo indont mean to be morbid here.
but as a jw all of this was taken care of.
now i think if i were to die tomorrow i wouldnt want a jw funeral (although technically i could still qualify) and i wouldn't even want any of my former associates who abandoned me when i needed them most to be there... so what arrangements have you made.

Dan-O
I really don't freakin' CARE who takes my funeral. I will be dead at that point.

"I grew up in the generation wherein we read a verse from the Bible (King James), sang America The Beautiful (to the tune of God Save the Queen/King) and Saluted the Flag, every morning in school."
Our elementary school started each morning with revelry playing from a phonograph pointed out the library window as the flag was hoisted on the pole, followed by the pledge of allegiance and a rousing chorus of "Jesus Loves Me" sung by the student body.
Due to various legal arguments over the separation of church and state in the past 30 or so years, I doubt that the principal is still leading students in "Jesus Loves Me" at that school these days. -

"I am always impressed at Scotch"
I've never been impressed by Scotch. I'm a bourbon drinker.
