i completely lost it and could not keep the tears back and my throat choked with grattitude to these men and my country.
i had missed feeling patriotic soooo much!
pasted from another thread...but got me thinking, how much did you stop doing as a jw, not because you really believed it but because you could not do it and still be a jw?
I guess you could say I gave up my youth and my freedom. I was raised in the org so pretty much had everything taken away at a young age.
Definately. Why? I believed it a bit, but mostly because i was scared of what would happen if I did not conform.
I lost my soul mate and the love of my life.
Why? Because at 18, i did not have the strength to leave all my witness friends and family. And because of the immense pressure my family put on me.
....as in if you personally were df'd or someone close to you was??
?
They actually believe they are following Jehovah God's direction. They believe in their own mightiness.
I just wish that they would realise that they are messing with peoples actual lives and the power that they have over them.
My uncle who is an elder was actually shocked that I'd been disfellowshipped and wanted me to appeal the desicion. He said he'd sit in with me if i wanted. I just couldn't do it was to emotionally and physically drained.
i just learned through contacts with my family that they are trying to file a suit against me for reverse shunning!!!
what is reverse shunning?
or "shunning them"?
Totally rediculous.
Really confusing.
Suppose it's just another control thing.
....as in if you personally were df'd or someone close to you was??

Was disfellowshipped about 6 weeks ago.
Yelled and screamed at the Elders when they told me ther decission. Was totally repentant for what I'd done and they still disfellowshipped me. Don't believe i went through all that and they still Disfellowshipped me, should have just told them to do what they wanted and saved myself the pain and anguish of a committe. Will tell you reasons if you want to pm me.
For a Few weeks felt free and good.
Now just lonely and feel like my heart has been torn out.
Very few friends, and the only family that are talking to me like in another state or overseas.
i have looked for this topic today, and didn't find it.
so i was wondering if you fine folks could tell me and others what was it exactly that got you out?.
sarcasm is welcome provided you tell us the real reason under it .
What I got out of the Borg.
A lot of guilt, never felt i could measure up to htere made up standards.
A lot of loneliness, never was the good Christian i was supposed to be. Too much of a free thinker. (rebelious attitude is what they called it)
Sad Marriage, and now a broken heart. Family and friends pretty much Zero. Four family members talk to me, My Dad (disfellowshipped, lives overseas ), my mum (no longer an active witness, lives in another state), my sister (still a witness and very understanding, lives in another state) and My ex-husband ( we have kids together) and I have one really good friend. Guy I love now married with two kids.( had to break up with him 10 years ago because of the Borg)
i dont get it.
but... i am doing our budget (my s/o and i put our finances together) and well, we make about $3k a month.
which for just 2 people living in a cheap (but nice!
I've always been of the opinion, you spend what you earn. F you earn $50 a week you'll spend $50. If you earn $5000 a week you'll spend $5000.
I'm terrible with money so I don't have credit cards or a check book. If i want something i but it on Lay-By and pay it off.
I also have my bank account set up so I can directly debit money into my mum's account, so if i manage to save some money I put it in her bank account and she looks after it for me. It's amazing how fast $20 here and ther adds up. She has strict instructions only to give it to me if it's really neccesary, not just because i saw something really cool and really want it.
many hospitals have names after saints, can they in good conscience go there for medical treatment?
or is it like anything else,,,,,,, well it is just a name ,or it is not b-day cake it is just cake .
or it is just a turkey and all the trimmings we eat, but we don't celebrate thanksgivings
Question Box
?
Is it proper for one of Jehovah?s witnesses to receive treatment and care at a hospital operated by a religious organization?Various religious organizations operate hospitals, which provide medical treatment and care. Generally such hospitals are not established for the outright promotion of false religion. They may have been incorporated originally to serve a religious organization as a source of income. Today, however, some hospitals are religious in their name only, whereas others are still partially staffed by members of the clergy.
If one of Jehovah?s witnesses requires hospital care, he must make his own decision as to whether he will go to a hospital that may possibly be connected with a religious organization. The conscience of one might permit him to do so, but the conscience of another may prevent him from doing so. There are certain circumstances that may have a bearing on one?s decision and it is good to consider these.
For example, a hospital with a religious name may be the only one in the immediate area. Or, if there is another hospital nearby, the one with possible religious connections may have a reputation for superior service. Also, such a hospital with a religious name may be the only one equipped to provide the particular treatment needed, or it may be the only hospital where your doctor or surgeon is able to handle cases. Also, sometimes hospitals with religious connections may respect your viewpoint as a Christian on the use of blood, whereas some other private or municipal hospitals may not. So these are some factors that you may have to consider when deciding what hospital to use.
If you do decide to use a hospital with religious connections, you might view it merely as paying for services rendered. You might view it as if the religious organization were operating a certain business, and in purchasing a service from such business you would not be making a direct, voluntary contribution to the support of a false religion. You would merely be paying for a product or a service.
Of course, as a Christian, in such circumstances you must definitely see to it that you do not engage in any acts of false worship. Also, you could not ascribe the usual religious titles, like "Father" or "Sister," to individuals who may work at or visit the hospital. You would have to see to it that the matter is strictly a business arrangement in which you are receiving treatment and service, and nothing more.
So, each one will have to consider all the circumstances involved and then make his own decision as to which hospital he will use.?Gal. 6:5.

I'd like to stick the fireworks womewhere and light them.
Reckon fireworks should be banned all together. Ever been to your local dog shelter the morning after a fireworks show. Where i do voluntry work it usually takes them about 2 weeks to reaquainte owners with lost pets.
For all you animal owners out there, please get your dogs and cats microchipped, it costs very little and makes the jobs of the shelters a whole lot easier.
Would love to get my kids done.
evenin' all.
does anyone have a good feel for when was the last time the borg used "millions now living will never die" in a study article and quoted a date (if my memory serves me it was a talk from 1918, forever quoted as a "look!
we nearly got one right refereence").
I hope this is what you were after .

Complete and With Firm Conviction?Behold!
The Great Crowd!?
From the time of the apostle John until our day, Christians had been puzzled about the identity of the "great multitude." The Bible Students regarded the great crowd as a secondary heavenly class, a group that had knowledge of Bible truth but did little about spreading it.
There were, however, certain associates of the anointed Christians who became very zealous in the preaching work. They had no aspirations of going to heaven. Indeed, their hope was in line with the public talk "Millions Now Living Will Never Die," featured by Jehovah?s people from 1918 to 1922. Such individuals would be blessed with everlasting life on earth.
