  Our dear Jackson is sick again . . . . interesting parenting question

  this is starting to remind me of my childhood.

  of course, the plus side is that i grew out of most of it, but it was hell while it lasted.. jackson (our 8-year-old) had his tonsils and adenoids out the beginning of june, in an effort to help reduce the number of infections and viruses he's been getting.

  he's allergic to a lot of stuff, most of which grows in texas (where we live), and we've tried allergy shots on two separate occasions which reacted badly on him.

  Dear Nina I hope Jackson is alright, I know how horrible it is when our babies are sick.

  Question about Older versus younger mothers. I know both, my best friend in the borg and I were the perfect example. I'm a younger mum, One at 24 the other at 28. She was about 8 years older than me and we reised our kids together. She was a great mum, had heaps of energy and did heaps of cool stuff with her kids. I was younger but did not have quite as much energy but was better in othe ways, I'm pretty nuts and used to do haeps of crazy things with the kids. I also had a lot more experience with kids so was good at comong up with ideas and help when they were sick. ( worked in a creche for 7 years before I had kids of my own)

  I think it depends on the individual parent. I've seen some older and younger mum's totally botch up parenting. Then I've see both age groups be fantastic parents. The big difference see with older and younger parents is the help they get from relatives. My girlfriends mother did not have the energy to look after the kids a lot, wheras my mum being younger did.

  My thoughts on the subject anyway.

  Letter from my Dad

  my dad is not a jw and now thinks they are kooks for df'ing me and has thrown all their teachings out the window.. here is his letter:.

  i answered the doorbell and a jehovah?s witness said, "can i talk to you about god?".

  Contact with long lost relative.

  i'm so exited, i just got an email from a cousin i have not had contact with for 15 years.. he was disfellowshipped 15 years ago, and being a good jdub i ceaced all contact with him.

  anyway i wrote him letter last week letting him know i'm now disfellowshipped and just seeing how he is going, and he just sent me an email.. he's going to sent me a longer one soon and send a heap of photos.

  he also gave me am open invitation to come visit him anytime.

  Sorry to ramble on just more hopeful now that my son will someday soon also see the light of day and come out of the Borg. I miss him so much!!!!!!!

  I hope you ge your son back again, I don't know how I'd cope without my kids.

  Tipping the Gal who cuts hair

  okay... i may act like a hick from a small-town... but... i'm curious about something.. what is the 'proper' amount that one is supposed to 'tip' the gal at the salon.

  the one whut cuts the hair.. i've never really had a good idea... and i know that i look like a dufus... fumbling and mumbling... as i hand a dollar or two to the gal.. now... if i'm supposed to be giving something like $5.00... forget it!

  i usually hand over 1 or 2 dollars - depending on how well i feel that they did.

  My cousin and his father reckon that the one diference between a good and a bad hairdresser is wether she puts her boob in your ear or not. So I suppose the amount of her tip depends on the amount of times she puts her boob in your ear.

  Unbelievable abuse case in Canada!

  What the F***!

  Those poor kids, going through all that, then put in separate foster homes. Having to verbalise what they went through, probably over and over. Then waiting three years for the court case, probably having to testify in court, be cross examined. Going through all that and their parents only getting nine months. That's just horroble.

  If the parents had stolen something or been convicted of fraud they would have gotten a lot more than that. Again just another example of how the justice system does not work. Why would anyone else come forward and charge their parents with abuse, why go through all that just to have the judge slap you in the face and tell you your life was worth nothing.

  No wonder people take matters into their own hands.

  Those people should have been given at least 15 years, time equivalent to the time they abused their kids.

  None of my JW family would invite me to their wedding, so that is out of the question. (my kids are little so that won't be an issue for a while)

  Funeral, only if it was a family member.

  He was really supportive and encouraging, told me just to hang it there and it will get easier.

  Just had to share. Happy day for me.

  Oh, also my sister went into labor last night, anytime now and I'll be an auntie.

  My Mum and her Auntie married brothers. So her Auntie is also her sister in law. That makes my cousins also my second cousins.

  A MS in a congregation i was once in is married to his first cousin.

  WATCHTOWER ADVERTISEMENT ON TV!!

  i just saw an advertisement for the borg on tv!!

  i was quite stunned.

  it showed a father working with his son on a project, it showed a mother doing something with her daughter and it showed some younguns paying money for drugs.
