the details of who to send a gift to will be getting pm'd to you all either friday afternoon or saturday morning!
according to the information i've found online the last posting day for standard parcels is dec 11th for usa and december 15th for the uk/europe, so you should all have plenty of time to select and send a gift, although sending sooner rather than later is prefered.
can everyone taking part post on this thread what things they like, what their interests are etc so that the person who is buying a gift for you has some idea what to get you.
I have about two ornaments and if we are getting a tree this year one or two more would really be appreciated.
Candles (votives) (I already have a million tea light candles).
I also like lighthouses (a postcard of one near you would be great).
Bath oil/bubbles -- or anything along those lines.
I think I am pretty easy.

the reason i'm asking is after i had a loud discussion with my "elder" brother the other day, he said something to me i didn't expect.
I found it by chance. I had faded and moved away. I called up a therapist because I was having a difficult time with family issues and JW stuff. The person on the phone said there were support groups out there and I immediately said "I can't do that". When I thought about it more I decided to go online and that is when I found this site. Although I don't post that much I do read a lot and I can empathize with what other people are going through and realize that I am not alone in my feelings.

My dad had a public talk that was entitled "Deliver Us From The Wicked One". It must have been based on this article because some of the experiences sound the same. I heard this talk OVER and OVER again and I still think about demons when I hear odd noises in the house at night. I am still angry that this stuff is still in my head today.
Do demons really exist? I honestly do not know what to believe anymore.

i took my niece to see "the grudge" last night.
i was holding on to her almost the entire time.
i thought it was pretty creepy, but i haven't seen many scary movies to compare it to.
My 14 y/o daughter went to see it last night. She said it "sucked" and wasted $9.50. She also said she thought it was very close to "The Ring" (which she really liked).

this is the second time i've voted this year and i feel great!
what a wonderful thing it is to be able to freely express yourself, take some responsibility, and at least feel like you have some choice in who leads, who calls the shots in this world in which we all live.
and what a contrast with the local kingdom hall, where you don't get to choose the po, you don't get to pick the co, you have no say in who, what, when or where.
I voted today too. . . .for the first time ever. There was a TV camera there and they were interviewing people who were dropping off their absentee ballots -- my daughter seriously wanted to be on TV, but JW memories kicked in and I didn't want anyone who knows me to see me on TV (if I even made it that far).

It is considered a national holiday and so is considered a breach of neutrality.
This is the reason we never "officially" celebrated it. Every year though my parents would invite the people in the hall who did not have a family and my mother would serve turkey (dad was an elder too). Reason given: turkeys were cheap.
